No wonder why I went to the movies a lot in college! Here's another week of solid fall offerings: the Disney Olympic bobsled comedy COOL RUNNINGS, the stylish Harold Becker thriller MALICE, Robert Altman's SHORT CUTS, the film version of M BUTTERFLY, and the mediocre Michael J. Fox rom-com FOR LOVE OR MONEY. With ads from WBNG Binghamton NY.

I like the nostalgic commercials. Plus knowing when this aired, 10/1/93, I was a few weeks into 2nd grade. Good times! Would wake up ready to face the day! Now the weight of the world has destroyed my spirit and all I do is look forward to hitting that pillow at night dreading the morning to come. As for the movies, there are many I remember, and many I never heard of. Adulthood. Overrated--- I didnt want to grow-up, hell I was a Toys 'R' Us kid!

Tom Waites is such a surprisingly good actor. I loved him in Down By Law.

Some Musicians tend to make an easy transition into acting. Performing a song is basically a form of acting.

im surprised they didnt like cool runings. everything they said was kinda valid but the movie is still fun.

Yeah it was absolutely a kid's movie. But it would have been fun to see a true to life version.

The Player & Short Cuts were legit comebacks for Altman.Harold Becker did better pictures like Taps & Sea Of Love.

It's so funny cause I turned off sea of love after an hour but was deeply engaged in malice

Disagree. Nicole Kidman looks hot in it but that’s about it. I just watched it again and it’s still a confusing mess to me.

A little bit of nostalgia for me as I saw this in theaters as a 17-year old. My friend and I enjoyed it as pure schlock.

Malice is entertaining but you've to watch it in an over-the-top B thriller kind of way.

They clearly didn't think much of Malice. There is a point to the subplot. I love that movie.

I was surprised as well when Ebert said the serial rapist/killer plot didn't go anywhere. The subplot exists to expose the main plot. I saw that William Goldman was listed in the end credits as something like a story consultant. Goldman's novels use this kind of device, either to take a sudden sharp turn into another kind of story, or to reframe the same story in a very significant way.

I dont understand why in a show where they were reccomended whether you watch a movie or not they still foreshadow and spoil stuff. Also its so funny that ebert literally complains malice doesnt tie everything up with a neat bow.
