You're right. It's haunting because it doesn't have the typical Hollywood happy ending.

It is a very strong movie.

Yeah, great film and a terrible remake. Even Jeff Bridges was horrible. Really horrible.

No. They just analyzed why it was such a hit.

People have trouble with movie critics being "out of touch" with what the public likes. I think they gave two thumbs down to _Crocodile Dundee,_ but then had to revisit it (like _Home Alone_ here) to explain why everyone liked it and kept going to see it. However, if a critic likes something that doesn't do well, I don't see people piling on to shame them. You just got to find one that shares your tastes, and with Siskel and Ebert you have two to choose from, (later Ebert and Roeper) who debate as opposed to Leonard Maltin, Arch Campbell, Gene Shalit, Grace Randolph and so on who do solo acts.

I've seen a lot worse.
