Siskel & Ebert - This Boy’s Life, The Sandlot, Indecent Proposal, Bodies Rest and Motion, The Abyss 

😍 I love Leo he is my favorite actor i have this movie on dvd its a great movie this boys life.

Siskel always feels reluctant to like fun movies like The Sandlot.

This Boy's Life is one of my Favorites--great Cast (Young Carla Gugino😍), and great music score.

I remember seeing This Boy's Life in the movie theater. I think it was the spring of 1993 during my freshman year of college. I loved it, especially, Robert DeNiro' s performance. At that time, he had never played an asshole and he does it so well. In fact, all the performances are first class. As for the rest, none of them, with the exception of The Abyss SE, was any good. The special edition really makes a good film into a great film.

"This Boys Life" made me really like Dicaprio, i related very well to that character and performance. it is a panful but very good film. unfortunately not long after 'Titanic" made me really dislike Dicaprio, i didnt like his character in that film but more so i his launch to super stardom because of that role exposed a lot of things about his personal life that i couldnt avoid hearing about at the time and i really started disliking him. before all of that i had liked him in the few other things i had seen him in including small tv roles. "The Sandlot" is a bona fide classic that i have never been able to get really into. i was 21 in 93 and i think it was just slightly past my time. i have a group of friends i work with now that are about 10 years younger than me and those guys all LOVE The Sandlot, it seems to be for them what "The Ouitsiders" and "Stand By Me" were for me at a certain age. my only problem with The Sandlot is frankly i am quite uptight and i am also a Cat person, when i was a kid i found dogs sort of annoying and gross, that is when i didnt find them absolutely terrifying because like the kids in this film there were always houses in the neighborhoods i lived in that infamously had very mean and scary dogs and they werent. and it wasnt overly uncommon for them to get out and come very close to genuinely hurting someone. anyway i always was sort of grossed out by dogs and the way they chew on everything and drool everywhere and how their mouths are constantly on you, and the exaggerated dog drool scenes in the film where they try to recover the ball just legitimately repulses me and stops me from being able to actually sit through and like what would otherwise be a nice nostalgic coming of age type kids movie. "Indecent Proposal" i saw but was never really interested in and was hampered by my dislike of Woody Harrelson as a person, have never liked that guy from interviews i would see with him back then and through the years. wasnt too big on /demi at the time either though she is another one i was a big fan of earlier on in her career. "Bodies Rest And Motion" i have absolutely zero memory of, which is a little weird because it seems like i remember Fonda as being pretty huge at that time and liked her. and ive always liked Cates and Roth. "The Abyss" i remember watching way back then but i really dont remember it at all, that is to say i dont remember it being memorable enough to remember. though just recently i saw the review of it and how well they both spoke of it and then this review of it again here for the special edition, guess i will have to dig it up sometime and give it another shot.

Their thoughts on Bodies... mostly echo mine. Siskel in particular nailed it when he said the Roth character was the weakest and only seemed to exist to move the plot forward. When he's onscreen I find myself mostly wondering how the heck Fonda's character found him interesting or attractive. It's not a good movie, but... I can't help but watch it whenever it's on TV because Fonda and Cates are so f#%&ing beautiful in this. Both of them were near the end of their full-time careers and this movie really makes me sad that they didn't work longer than they did.

This Boy’s Life - not exactly an original work but it’s well-acted enough and a showcase for Leonardo DiCaprio early in his career. I mean he faces off with De Niro and we totally buy it. Ellen Barkin is only fair as the wife and I questioned why she stayed in the marriage as long as she did. But bottom line, it’s still a good film, warts and all. 👍🏾 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Sandlot - a zippy and breezy piece of escapism that speaks to kids and to the kids in all adults about the fun that summertime truly is, be it baseball, swimming pools or carnivals. 👍🏾 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Indecent Proposal - the first hour is provocative but the second hour is treacly and sappy. Redford is dashing and cunning, Demi is consistently well photographed and Woody Harrelson gets kind of whiny in the back half of the movie. 👎🏾 ⭐️⭐️ 1/2.

I was not happy when they phased the Stinker of the Week out (along with Aroma) and replaced it with the boring Video Pick of the Week. I LOVED the Dog of the Week segment when they were on Sneak Previews. I thought it was the highlight of the show.

Kind of funny from the Bodies at Rest review. Gen X now says the the same thing about Gen Z and Millennials

Siskel asking why D and D have to be “so serious” with everything in Indecent Proposal. WTF. I mean, it’s their MARRIAGE and a relationship they have been in since they were teenagers. Why would they not take it serious? It sounded like he simply wished it was a different movie and gave it a thumbs down just for that.

Sorry Ebert, but every married couple my parents knew were talking about whether they would accept the $1 million for a night with Robert Redford. When my mum asked my dad if he would accept it, he answered with: “I won’t say unless there’s a real million on offer from Robert Redford.”

I thought "Indecent proposal" was absolutely idiotic and laughable...

-This Boy’s Life: Terrific acting, but way too depressing to watch. -The Sandlot: All round excellent. -Never saw The Abyss or Indecent Proposal. -Never every heard of Bodies Rest! Was it super low budget/barely in theaters?
