Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey, together at last ❤ These two guys are like the Odd Couple with guns. Their two characters go at each other like enemies. Their chemistry is brilliant.
This is one my favorite action films of all time, and it's definitely the best of the Die Hard-inspired films as well (I wouldn't say it's better than the 1st two Die Hard movies, but after that, it's without peer). 10/10.
I am pleased that these guys both loved the movie. I really still enjoy it to this day. I watch it about once a year. Great movie. Under Siege 2, while not nearly as good, is underrated, by the way.
Just like True Lies, Under Siege is a fun action movie to watch anytime of the year, I enjoy it a lot. It's predictable, it has humor, good performance, full of energy & great villains - Tommy Lee Jones & Gary busey. Segal is funny hero here, plays a former Navy-turned-chief & Erika as the sidekick take out the mercenaries on the Navy ship. I Strongly recommended because it's lot fun. Thumbs up 👍👍👍👍
I agree Andrew Davis is a great action director. I have been looking for Code of Silence for awhile but can't find. Siskel rarely likes the action films but when he does he really raves about em when it is well done.
I think you emphasised the wrong part of your comment, buddy. Of course it was on his top ten list for THAT YEAR, what other year's top ten would it be on? I think the emphasis needed to be on the fact that is was on his TOP TEN LIST for that year. Hence, why YOU would be a very poor filmmaker and I'd be a Kubrickian genius! Bahahaha.
@@ryans756 well...you gave no indication on any film on his list They loved the movie, it's commercial popcorn lite, like Speed but very enjoyable Wats ur issue
@@kdohertygizbur If you're unable to comprehend the meaning of my previous comment, there's no chance at all of you comprehending a more convoluted explanation of that comment. I'll bid you good day.
Underrated?! Even 3 years ago, when you wrote this comment, my friend, it became a highlight of Seagal's career comparing to all trash that he played in and tbh, was the reason it was so bad
The only problem with this movie is that Seagal bought into his own hype, followed it by directing and starring in On Deadly Ground, and the rest is history. It's the opposite of why Schwarzenegger had such a long and successful career in comparison - he stayed in his lane and always worked with good directors.
This was a really great movie. This is a movie you show a generation that only knows Steven Seagal as a parody. His earlier movies showed that he wasn't bad at all as an action star, and was a fairly solid actor. People also don't remember how good Gary Busey was before his accident. Tommy Lee Jones, though. You can't go wrong when he's your villain, LOL!
Under Siege turns 30! Made $157 million worldwide and got nominated for two Academy Awards: Best Sound (it lost to The Last of the Mohicans) and Best Sound Editing (which it lost to Bram Stoker's Dracula) Sold lots of VHS copies too Stinks it's not on Amazon prime video even though it says it's for free on that streaming platform From the same writer who did 'Pretty Woman' Steven Seagal, Erika Elianik, Tommy Lee Jones, and Gary Busey Basically 'Die Hard' on a ship but it became the first film of the 90s to financially utilize the formula successfully Seagal isn't a very good actor but he has his expert fight choreography to make up for it and the villains are entertaining Plus Elianik gets to show she's intelligent than rather be dumb eye candy (she actually was a real playmate in real life) The climax feels a bit rushed and some depth is missing from the script along with subplots that make no sense However it has fun action, good atmosphere making the viewer feel just as trapped, terrific cinematography, good sense of scale, and a decent time killer despite its formulaic structure Good for macho man streamers looking for testosterone fueled thrills
Roger is probably my favorite movie critic (doesn't mean that I always agreed with him (mostly I did)) but I just can't understand how he could like this so much and not Die Hard. Well, not that important but it can elave you wondering.
I have never understood the appeal of Seagal. You have transmit something beyond the screen in order to be appealing on camera and Steven never had anything.
Good looking, cool, and could kick a certain amount of ass. I didn't share the appreciation of that appeal as much as many, but I did understand it. What I don't understand is how Siskel and Ebert loved this film so damn much. It's a decent action movie. That is all. Must have been a bad year, too, for it to get on Siskel's annual top ten list.
Seagal gets a lot of shit these days but there was a time in my youth when he was up there with Van Damme, Arnie and Stallone as must-watch action film star when it seemed like these guys had action flicks coming out every year during the late 80s and into the 90s. Good times.
@@meltz87 you're the one who said "This is when movies started the downward slide into mediocrity." in your unimportant opinion, not me. try to keep up, bro!
