The funny thing is people saying they hate this was “wasted” on thongs. For those of you born after the early 90s, y’all didn’t get to experience that artists never “saved” good beats for songs. They put their all in every song, even if it was a throw away song. That’s exactly why people still love this song almost 20 years later. Even the most throw away song from the 90s-2000s sounds better than most stuff being played now

yet most of even those songs were inspired by music from earlier decades. 50s 60s 70s also had some "bangers". I'm a 90's baby and looking at old art (music movies) you can really see where a lot of current artists/filmmakers took their inspiration.

The violin part is actually sampled and slightly modified from the Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby." Sisqo wanted to sample the classic and use it for this song, but he didn't want to pay Michael Jackson, who owned the rights to the Beatles songs at the time, so he slightly modified the violin part.
