Mary Travers was always my favorite singing "The First Time", until I heard my lovely Sissel sing it for, "The First Time"! She just does every song better than anyone else! Tom, her most ardent fan
I guess the 90 people who gave this a thumbs down never had this experience, and loved someone this deeply. How sad for them. I still miss my love---- and this song brings tears to my eyes.
Sissel makes everyone else so insignificant. Everyone else is just human and Sissel is an angel, a true gift of God. Her voice is pure perfection and her beauty is beyond words. When Sissel sings it comes out how sharing herself with us is just something she has to do. You can tell how much she loves life and bringing joy to people.
Sissel, you have been a fountain of joy and beauty always. Music and life have burnished your heart - and your face - so beautifully - your music and your smile are a treasure and blessing. Joy, peace, safety and all good to you, and to everyone in your heart-circle. I thank God for you.
Sissel is a voice with natural beauty to match. When she sings i believe her. Now like others at 83 yrs old i discover her. All the wonderful accolades she gets are not close . Her inner beauty shines . Just too marvellous.
Guess I'm glad that I'm "only" 77" since I discovered Sissel about 3 hours ago. Just checked and she's on Spotify. CAN NOT understand why I'd never heard of her here in the US, especially since I lived in both NY and LA for many decades. Better late than never, as the saying goes...
It is hard to express perfection, but Sissel has shown this in her outstanding rendition of this great song. Her wonderful voice pared with her natural beauty makes beautiful music with her presence.
Remarkable quality of Sissel is the high note which everyone struggle to reach, Sissel is able to sing comfortably. God has placed few Angles amoung us. She is one.
When young & many years ago, I fell in love with a beautiful girl. This song was popular then and always reminds me of her. The majesty of your interpretation is that it brings back old memories and tears to my eyes. One cannot have been deeply in love and not cry at this song. Bless you Sissel!
I recommend Sissel to every audiophile's collection. At night alone, you will be in HEAVEN when you listen to every detail of her voice from the above using the best speaker/headphone!
Unutterable beauty! If you never did anything else, this would be more than enough. The most beautiful love song ever written sung by the most beautiful woman who ever lived.
Exquisite and ever so beautiful, Sissel! I can imagine you being that "perfect" woman, in every man's eyes! You have the "World" with you! Judging by the many comments I have just read, they all adore you! You are a DREAM!
Such a beautiful voice, with meaning in the words. The first time l saw her face was in a village hall, she stood there with others and l just asked "what you doing saturady evening?" well nothingmuch was her reply, so l said, "you are now" Why she asked me , "because were going out" ok she answered. l will never forget that moment in my life, as she was the best thing that ever happend to me. Yet another song with meaning. But The first time l ever saw her face was my moment in time. Never fogotten and never will.
I just watched Peggy's 2023 version of her song, and it is quite majestic. It linked me to here. Sissel's version is quite beautiful and very moving. I know her best from having the mickey taken by Viktor Borge, so it's great to see her showing off her skills in a serious format. Wonderful.
Essa voz toca no fundo da nossa alma...fechar os olhos e ouvir e como se um anjo estivesse cantando para nos embalar! Magnífica voz e uma pessoa encantadora. Parabéns!!!
Dear Lady Sissel; I recall vividly the first time ever I saw your face. You were singing "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" with Russell Watson in 2002. (Video published 2009.) I don't know what day, month, or year I first saw that, but it does not really matter. What matters is that it was love for you at first sight (and hearing) for me. Since then, my respect and regard for you has done nothing but grow every time I see and listen to you. I also recall the first time I ever saw my beloved wife's face on September 30, 1980. I said to myself, "she is going to be my bride someday." That took place just a little over 13 months later on November 8, 1981, also my 31st birthday. In less than 3 months we will celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary. I know that you are now re-married and I wish you all the joy and happiness that this life, and the next, has to offer, my friend. You spread love and joy every time you sing. Thank you so much Mr.@@rodneyjones1541! That is very kind of you to say so, sir! Beautiful ladies inspire beautiful words, eh? Lady Sissel is somewhere in my Top 25 Artists of All-Time! 😍🎵 But I doubt she will ever see my comment. Since you are here, you also love beautiful music. Some others for you to watch are my #3 Enya 🍀💚 (International Super-Star from Ireland); and three bands/artists that are lesser known: My #1 Affiniti Music 🍀💚 (from Ireland); my #2 Julia Westlin 💖 (from Sweden and now in Canada); and my #5 Amadeus Electric Quartet 💖 (from Romania). My #4 (and my #1 from 1966 to 2021) are The Moody Blues! 💙 As you can see, my belief is that the BEST MUSIC is from EUROPE, especially Ireland and the UK. Are you from England, my friend? Cheers!!! 😁😁
@@michaeltriba1307 Hi Michael, I am from beautiful North Wales in the United Kingdom. I am a sem-professional musician, and I am the Director of Music (conductor) of two successful Male Voice Choir's. We haven't been rehearsin since our lockdowd (15 months now) but hopefully we will be bak by mid July. As you can probably tell, I adore Sissel and her music. I have been listening to her fabulous rendition of 'Slow Down' with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Her vocal control is sensational and the sound she produces is truly beautiful, it moved me to actual tears. My musical tastes are quite eclectic - the following a favourites of mine. Queen & Freddy Mercury, T-Rex, Lindisfarne, Bouble, Joan Sutherland, Juan Diego Flores to name but a few of many. I have a real soft-spot for the cunter-tenor voice so I listen (a lot) to Jakub Jozef Orlinski, Franco Fagioli and the French counter-tenor Orlinsky - they have truly magical musicc n You Tube. Thank you for your kind reply. Cheers to you to.
"First time....ever I kissed your mouth... I felt the earth move in my hand, like a trembling heart of a captive bird...that was there at my command.... my love", I have never had this with any of the women I have loved. I look forward to this sensation one day. What lyrics!
Met a girl , kissed her and my world changed for ever . Oh yeah I tried to fight it because I knew NO GOOD would come of it . You see I knew enough of myself to know that too , the problem was that it wasn't only my world that had changed , hers had too . So we got married Bought a house , sold the house bought a ship , sold the ship , bought a house again and got 3 kids , well I was right and so wrong , Yes we divorced but we have 3 children so we are bound to each other trough our children . Yes they are grown up and have their own life but they are still our children and we love them and they love us both . I have had relations before her and had after but it's never been the same , that's gone for ever and what saddens me most is the fact that it's the samme for my girl and that's my fault and I have to carry that load the rest of my days . I hope that you too one day will have that feeling that turns your world upside down and I hope that you handle it better than I did .
@@perrodehont5109 Thanks for sharing your story....Love is the most wonderful emotion and when it ends the most painful.....However we all will never give up searching for the true love of our lives.....
I've heard of Hayley Westenra, and Charlotte Church and Kiri Te Kanawa, but today I write in my diary the first time ever I heard your voice Sissel Kyrkjebo.
50 years ago as an errant teen I ran away to sea as crew on a merchant ship tramping the islands of the Pacific. One amazing night of stars, days from anywhere, several of us drunken bums were up on the bridge deck shouting and laughing round a radio receiver with somebody tuning and retuning it to contact civilization. Then this song with Roberta Flack's voice rose out of the dark. For those minutes no one spoke until it finished and a big engineer sobbed that he needed to get home, another saying, F**K me, that was beautiful. This song is thus imprinted with me. So Sissel chooses well and does it justice.
