Chuck Berry said his main influence was Rosetta Tharpe. She invented rock n roll and I also believe electric blues, because artists like Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy took influence from her too.
Of course. Black people invented everything, white people are masters of stealing, killing, and lynching. History shows this . Columbus discovered America, so the natives and black indigenous who were already there just watched? 🤣🤦🏿♀️
@@duanesealy3592 Chuck Berry said she was the first person he ever heard play rock'n'roll. Elvis used to run home from school to listen to her on the radio... Little Richard said she inspired him to perform... Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash spoke of her influence on them - as did Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and quite a few more. You can be a rock legend without being a rock singer....
Sad thing is she wasn't given much publicity. I think we all know why. Yet she rocked that guitar and was a servant of the Lord. Thank God literally the hall of shame finally inducted her. Only 58 when she passed. She would have been 98 when finally inducted. Wikipedia has her born in 1915 with other sources stating 1920. really makes no difference other than she left us all too soon.
Thank you for putting Rosetta music back for us to hear. She belongs in the hall of fame. Especially since she was the influence to all who are in the hall of fame. The was the originator of this style Rockabilly,
I love everything I've seen about this lady. She is not only superbly talented, overflowing with music, but she is just so pretty. She has the prettiest profile. She moves my soul. Every time I hear her she moves my soul. I thank you Sister for moving my soul in just the right way when it is calling to be moved.
I'm 49 yrs old and i am now just finding out who she is,she belongs in the Rock n Roll. Hall Of Fame, and is very underrated, had alot of soul whene she sang
Honestly one of the best and purest voices in music...and she could play guitar as well as any of her contemporaries....maybe better! If only she upped her amp volume! Lol!
Wow this is a master at work. So effortless. Absolutely amazing performance. My new favourite singer ever. If you've not heard Sister Rosetta you haven't lived!
Such beauty, grace, the love of God and extreme talent! She amazes me with her guitar, soulful songs and the love of the Lord! Too awesome for words! Without out a doubt a legend! My sister and I love her like crazy!
you see only one Rosetta Tharpe once in life ,her singing ,the melody that comes out from the her was the new rock and blues from the 50 and with the "unseen hero guitar" the Gibson SG
Yea sister! I love it: I love it because I have a soul, and I love real soul: And sister you have that soul!! You’re a true troubadour, I wish I knew you in this life. Your music makes me jump for joy, and love the Lord more than I thought I ever could.:
I've been tempted to go to a black baptist church for the music. I am an atheist, but that shit looks awesome. I was too much of a pussy to go, but I even had a pamphlet listing location, dates and times. Guess it's not too late.
Chris Johnson whaaa you can just go? dooo it. i just went back to my old church a couple days ago actually, after 10 years.. nothin like that holy spirit vibe dude.
I'd feel weird being the only white person and I would be woefully under dressed. Shouldn't feel weird, obviously the congregation would like to see more people show up. I am anti-religion(not the people themselves, but it leads to a lot of trouble and it has way too much influence in our government), but the music and the feeling of being a part of a happy, ecstatic, energetic crowd. Not saying I won't ever go, I'd still like to, and I am not worried about looking out of place anymore, those days are over with.
@@ChrisJohnson-xm4bu many people go without the traditional "look". You'd definitely be welcomed. It's more about your soul than the way you look. Heck, I'm a black woman and have been living in a predominately white neighborhood all my life. I got used to being the odd looking one when I go out to various places a long time ago. Eventually, you don't care. Gotta live your life. They'll adjust.
Sublime - I think we need to change Bob Seger's infamous lyric - "Well all Chuck's children are out there playing his licks" Clearly Chuck was playing hers and T-bones
Watching her very moves and presence I'd swear she could have tamed a Hurricane with her right pinky. Rendering it a sweet kitten running after a spool of thread. And, boy, with her blaze of solos it was a good thing her guitar was cast of steel. Thankyou for that fine moment in time. 🌻
@@duanesealy3592 she was a gospel singer but generally considered to be the founder/creator of rock and roll cause a lot of her techniques really inspired famous tock musicans also the fact she very rock like riffs as seen in this she was doing years before anyone else
This is DEFINITELY the inspiration for King X's song of the same name. I hope Dug Pinnick gave his respects to her when he wrote and recorded his song. WHY have people grown away from this music? Don't just listen to the devil, listen to the other side!!!
