42 fucking years later...and their music STILL holds up. In-fucking-credible. Sister Sledge was basically a group of lead singers...all of them could sing. But when it came down to just putting out a dance hit with a nasty beat and chorus...nobody did it better, in my opinion.
Sister Sledge will forever be my big sisters in my head since I was a little girl loving the album cover when all of them had braids as their hairstyle. Nile Rogers will always be the King of Disco. RIP Joni Slege! You are truly missed. 🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️❤️
The guitar on this song is something out of this world. I just can't find the proper words to describe what this masterpiece makes me feel. Thank you Nile Rodgers. Greetings from Portugal.
Disco, should never have been called 'Disco' because the younger generation see it has something that it was not. All of this eras tunes were made on 'real instruments, written by world renowned writers and sungwith 'real' vocals by extremely talented 'artist'. It was an era of Puuuuuure Magic which unfortunately was missed by many generations.
'Dubstep' is notorious for auto-tune melodies, mumble-lyrics and an unconsciously general disgust for common sense and unconsciously champions doing NOTHING with your life and dumping on "White People" for their own f-ing problems.
Nile Rodgers what a genius he was......Nile wrote alot of songs for the group sister sledge including we are family such a talented song writer Nile Rodgers is and his group chic superb music....to those who haven't heard his music go buy a CD n sister sledge CD both are cool to listen to 👍🤗😍😘
I love this song and I’m impressed by the words that she is singing because she is so right about I can’t give up my music by being lost in there music and ain’t no turning back now and I agree
Have you heard the newest song by Diana Ross? 'I Still Believe' recaptures some of that lush, feel-good 70s spirit with a bit of a 'I Will Survive-ish' vibe.
Perdues dans la musique,un nouveau Paradis qui nous fait rever toujours EN laissant passer le temps EN serenite' et jouissance.... Merci beaucoup Sister Sledge....
What a wonderful rhythm guitar and production skills he brings to almost every song he touches: Chic, Sister Sledge, Duran Duran, Daft Punk, Diana Ross and many others.
We're lost in music Caught in a trap No turnin' back We're lost in music We're lost in music Feel so alive I quit my nine to five We're lost in music Have you ever seen Some people lose everything? First to go is their mind Responsibility To me is a tragedy I'll get a job some other time, uh-huh I want to join a band And play in front of crazy fans Yes, I call that temptation Give me the melody That's all that I ever need The music is my salvation We're lost in music Caught in a trap No turnin' back We're lost in music We're lost in music Feel so alive I quit my nine to five We're lost in music Mmm, hmm, in the spotlight The band plays so very tight Each and every night, uh-huh It's not vanity To me, it's my sanity I could never survive Some people ask me What are you gonna be? Why don't you go get a job? uh-uh All that I could say I won't give up my music Not me, not now, no way, no how, oh, oh We're lost in music Caught in a trap (Caught up in our music) No turnin' back (Ooh, ooh, ooh) We're lost in music We're lost in music (Don't take our away our music) Feel so alive (Feel) I quit (I quit) my nine to five (Yeah) We're lost in music We're lost in music (Melody is good to me) Caught in a trap (I'm caught up in it) No turnin' back (No, no, no) We're lost in music (Ooh doo doo doo doo doo doo) We're lost in music (La da da da da da da da, mmm... hmm...) Feel so alive I quit (I quit) my nine to five We're lost in music (Lost in music) We're lost in music Caught in a trap No turnin' back We're lost in music We're lost in music Feel so alive I quit my nine to five We're lost in music We're lost in music Caught in a trap No turnin' back We're lost in music
BEAUTIFUL, GORGEOUS, LOVELY AND TALENTED SISTER(S) SLEDGE!! They were the PRECIOUS GEMS of the Classic Disco era who will NEVERRRRRRRR LOSE THEIR LUSTER AND SPARKLE!!! R.I.P. to the wonderful Joni....gone WAAAAAY TOO SOON!! And this INCREDIBLE remix is a MASTERPIECE!
This is when music was music! I remember when these songs came out and I was absolutely hypnotize with how wonderful they sounded, and when I saw how beautiful these ladies were, I was even more amazed!
In those days music was real music. Not the rubbish they put out today. Either you can't understand what they are saying or the music is rubbish. George Harrison once said we could not play properly on stage because in the studio we had all the proper gadgets to produce the proper sound which we could not re produce on stage. PC. 26. 09. 2021.
There are so many versions of this song, but in my opinion none of them beats the original. That bass break and Nile's guitar kicking in at 00:32 is pure art, and unfortunatly, Dimitri misses that part.
I think both Nile Rodgers and Georgio Moroder we’re total pioneers and ahead of their time -music producers today attempt to imitate them but it’s impossible they are world treasures and getting older now so appreciate them with all your hearts
This video, made me break out into a disco 80s fusion dance.. My foot work as never been better . l was actually impressed what this song brought out in me. Sister Sledge and 79 Pirates, Love ya.
excellent remix of an already excellent song. loved this song from the first moment i heard it on their album, and at the time thought it worthy of a release as a single. was happy when they did. and it certainly encouraged a lot of remix versions, which i was so into at the time, and indeed since. the unmistakable sound of edwards and rodgers is fabbaulous to hear to this day. and i've just very recently found out that it was sister joni singing the lead vocals, gob smacked as i always thought it was sister kathy that did them all. now i'm wondering how many more i missed ... it's always a joy listening to this group, for me especially having the family bond making it extra special. thanks for posting. love and peace to you and all, xxxxxxx
"Responsibility to me is a tragedy, I'll get a job some other time..." I first heard the 1984 12" version (with Simon Le Bon on it) and was entirely captivated by the string, beat and bass guitar!! One of my all-time dance record favourites!!!
What a track produced by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards. Edwards seems to be often underrated although he was the powerhouse and workaholic in the early years of chic. RIP Bernard Edwards and Joni Sledge. Will never forget your influence and talent.
Every time when i see and hear sister sledge and chic with this amazing song i know this is the best combination in the 70's after Giorgio Moroder and Donna Summer...High quality
