Dr. JoAnne Cornwell, Celeste Geary, and Carol Jenkins are the original sisters of Sisterlocks®. As of 2023, the Sisterlocks® company celebrates its 30th anniversary, marking three decades of promoting natural hair care and cultural pride. Over the years, the company has grown and changed the lives of many individuals by providing them with a unique hair care system that fosters self-confidence and appreciation for their natural beauty and heritage. The three founding sisters, along with the team of Home Office staff, the Sisterlocks® Training Team, consultants, clients, and supporters, have played a crucial role in making Sisterlocks® a leading and transformative natural hair care system.

I can tell you this: I sure wasn't thinking about doing anyone's hair before I took the Sisterlocks™️ course in 2017. Thank you to the founders, the sisters of Sisterlocks™️ 🤓, for this unique opportunity to own a small business and help Black women exist in authenticity while they learn to love themselves even more. 🥰✨🙏🏽 So grateful. Loved this discussion.

I absolutely love my sister locks & for me it has been a journey.(after losing my parents & sister & being a little lost) This is a new purpose for me❣️A very beautiful journey & I thank you for the gift, the movement, the love, the respect & the community! This is such a great thing for women of color, it is very much a global movement! I just celebrated my 1st anniversary. Unfortunately I never received my certificate, (probably lost in mail). Sisterlocks has brought us all together, we speak more to each other, kinder, more encouraging even more patient & loving. Definitely reminds us of dignity & self reflection. This is a continuing education. Thank you & God bless us all Sisters❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Thank you for paving the way! My daughter has been sisterlocked for 7 years. Her journey convinced me to loc my hair as well. I chose to establish microlocs and this has been the best hair decision I’ve ever made. Thank you for leading the way and making locs more socially acceptable. It’s been easier for me because of you. 💕

Thank you for making Sister Locs socially excellent globally. I'm sister locked for 16 months; and I have never felt so good about my hair. I have 4C hair and could never get my hair to grow grow up, however; I now appreciate my hair growing even more beautiful . I appreciate my natural hair more than ever because of its unique and elegant natural beauty. God blessings 🙌🏽

I absolutely love how invested each of the sisters is in growing the brand. I agree with Celeste that it’s not talked about enough and it’s probably because we in the Sisterlock community (if you will) don’t educate as much as we should or help others know the importance of what sisterlocks are and stand for. I also loved how they all have a different function in the company. The epitome of knowing your role and playing it well. I love a good origin story and this video was my first time hearing how it all started.

After doing the musical Hairspray in 2019 as Seaweed, I had to do the big chop to my hair (ironic because Hairspray has to do with the big hair). I wanted locks but i didn’t want traditional locks. I happened to find this style and connected with a guy who was Puerto Rican and Black that has brotherlocs ™️ . I reached out to him and asked him to call and me after 5 minutes. I was hooked. I grew my hair out for 4 and a half years to get the minimum length of 2 and a half to 3 inches. I finally got it January 2nd and January 3rd. I’m so glad. I love love love my hair

I am 14 months sister loc'd. I am cool with them. I considered sister loc training however I am doing micro loc classes instead. More women can afford the installation and retires. I will not promote retie as frequently as sister locs does.

Im currently in the class 🙌🏾🙌🏾 It has been a journey to get here but im thankful that I took that leap of faith. I admire each and every of these women for what they have created together as Sisters and for women of color, it’s not something that I see often. It’s funny because I always thought that sisterlocks was the style of locks but really it’s named after the sisters. I think that cool that they together created this style. Im looking forward to when Sister locks reach Africa, that would be a game charger for many I’m sure if it. Thank you for all that you do beautiful souls ✨

Miss Jo Anne and Miss Carol.......your hair is beautiful. Would you be willing to show us / do a video talking about your hair? Would love to get a more up-close look and tips and what not about what you do as far as care and style. There is so much controversy regarding sisterlocks and would love to get some tips from you. I am not saying divulge trade secrets but what you do on a daily basis. Do you wrap your hair at night? Do you use a bonnet? Can you show us your go to style? Would you recommend or not recommend sisterlocks for those whose hair is not thick? Basic general things. I hope that you would consider.

My sisterlocs are 15 years old and my fullness isn't there anymore. What can I do to get the fullness again? I definitely retighten them on every 6 weeks.

you might try pushing your reties out to 8 to 10 weeks to allow your new growth to thicken as it grows. My hair is thin in the crown as well and I’m using that now to see if it helps.

Do you have to have a cosmetology license to become certified?
@SisterlocksMedia
@SisterlocksMedia 3 месяца назад
Sisterlocks training is available without the need for a cosmetology license, allowing you to become certified directly through our program. However, it's important to check the specific licensing requirements in your state, as some states may require a natural hair care or braiding license to practice professionally.
