Let's put up this way. Eldritch is certainly a musical genius but here his attitude simply sucks. Patricia Morrison is perfect, distinguished and decent apart from being stunningly beautiful. From their attitude, one can understand that the pair does not go along very well. Something seems broken. They don't communicate. As if the interview was a torture. No enthusiasm. Now we know that Eldritch recruited Morrison only for the look and nothing else. It was for pure marketing. Actually it worked quite well. The combination was top-notch visually. But it was a one-off attempt. Eldritch had already something else in mind with a new line-up for ''Vision Thing'' in 1990. After this fiasco Morrison will marry Dave Vanian and become mother. Good for her but sad conclusion. However, with Eldritch what could she wait for? The strangest man of the Rock and Roll circus. Refusing honors and pulling away systematically from the musical industry with nothing released since the fantastic ''Under the Gun'' in 1992 produced by ex-Tears for Fears Ian Stanley. A pure enigma. This being said ''Floodland'' is a awesome album and among the first 100 albums of the entire rock history.
I cant believe i didnt know "Morrison will marry Dave Vanian and become a mother." Thats awesome! Dave Vanian was cool as f*ck. I loved The Damned. The Damned, The Clash and the Sex Pistols toured together in '76 for the Anarchy tour... damn i would have loved to see THAT show! But I was 7.
@@danielgriff2659 As far as I can tell, hardly anyone got to see that show because most of the gigs were cancelled due to the interventions of concerned local council members and the like.
Why is it a “sad conclusion” that she married one of the coolest old punks in existence and became a mother? I mean, if her reasons for being recruited to the Sisters were purely superficial and image-oriented, then I’d say she moved on to MUCH greener pastures. She’s much happier now. How do I know this? Because I’ve spoken with both her and Dave several times since they “paired up”, and it’s as plain as night and day.
Andrew was a frightening prospect for a lot of interviewers due to the fact that he wasn’t interested in playing the game, is very intelligent and is a master of wit and irony (lost on most of his interviewers)
He's pretentious as hell and this interview is cringeworthy stuff ... I feel embarrassed for his band mate having to sit next to him with this act he's pulling. 😂
Wtf does the Cure have to do with tSoM? The Cure just created the music they wanted to. Disintegration was expected to be complete commercial suicide to the extent that they forced the band to include Fascination Street as the only potential single- yet that album went on to completely explode. Also, you can’t listen to garbage tracks like You Could Be The One and pretend that Andrew is some bastion of anti-commercialism.
andrew's a very smart guy,but god the interviewer is terrible..why cant she ask him some serious questions on his music, what inspired?what music he liked growing up?who were his idiols?did he ever meet them to help develop his love and passion of music?ask him something that we may not know about him?what does he do when not on the road.how often does he perform?
She's just THE Face Of The 80s for me... So many girls tried to copy her look, and a (very...) few managed to get close (I dated a couple of them), but Patricia was always The One for me...
My wife looks look a like like of Patricia Morrison in every way now and at university where i married her.She teaches at university being a professor of physics and mathematics now and her students think the same.Update she now retired now this year 2023.
I saw the Damned. Captain Sensible got in trouble so I could go talk to Dave Vanian. One of the very first goths, and the singer of my favourate Punk band. The only thing I could think of saying to him was "I like your wife". I regret nothing...
I'm sure he appreciated it, he deals with some many dumbass, ignorant, jealous twats who hate on Patricia because her "crime" is to be his wife... when it's not delusional hags who think he loves them better than his wives.
When it's not morons who discovered the Damned and the Goth thing yesterday morning yet blurt disrespectful, ignorant shit on her. Little surprise, most of these same women have the glamour of a dishwasher..I'm like, what are YOUR credentials?
This highlights Eldtritch's pet peeve. That is, "wri ting albums is fun, making albums can be fun, mixing albums has its moments but still can be fun, BUT . . . . promoting albums is a slog and mind numbingly boring. " Point definitely made !
Except Bowie was intelligent and always respectful .... This guy is the very definition of a pretentiously cringeworthy rock star. It feels like a joke.
All of the early goths worshipped Bowie. Peter Murphy based his whole schpiel on Bowie. 80’s goth was basically just an updated version of early 70’s glam, with some horror trappings. It stands to reason that Bowie would loom large amongst it’s pioneers.
Andrew.....STOP TALKING! Eldrisch is the most annoying brat you can imagine. ....but he created one of the biggest art of work of all times - Floodland and there around. After -93, he turned into a Trent Reznor "I have feelings" crap.
@@seagrey75 NIN was always pop to my ears ... a bit more aggressive , industrial influences, .. but at their core , they always seemed to value hooks and catchy melodies first and foremost. There's a reason they got as big as they did. Not knocking them at all because I love that band .. but claiming it happened in 2000 is pretty funny to me.
All the boys (including me) wanted Patricia Morrison as girlfriend and all the girls wanted to look like her. Then I moved to Berlin and tekkno happened.
Ich liebe "Mother Russian". Höre ich seit 1988 die Band, einfach nur magisch dieser Sound mit der Stimme von Andrew ;). Das Interview und die Moderatorin aber ziemlich crazy :-/.
that stick he carries just doesn't look like it's heavy enough to kill a person. i feel like it would just bend on your skull. it would hurt but you wouldn't be knocked out.
I gladly sat through this very 80's cheapo music TV interview just for the tingle of my teenage years and the music. I really ought to dig out my Sisters vinyl; I've got some rare stuff.
Andrew rocking the look in the 80's that everybody wants since 10 years now! Talking about trend setter 😁 He's so good looking though and Patricia oh my god.... L.O.V.E. 😍
Yeah he (and Patricia) pretty much pioneered this look, along with a few other early bold souls. Too bad Andrew at least not only abandoned it, but has done pretty much everything in his power to go against it ever since. I mean, I KIND OF ‘get it’. Once something that you used to get violently harassed for becomes just another safe fad for the Hot Topic crowd, it can be infuriating. I’m an old punk, I understand. However…. devoting your life to burying your past beneath layer upon layer of denial and making a fool of yourself while trying to distance yourself as far from your past as you can because you’re stuck in a shame spiral? Nah, that’s no solution. Be f’n PROUD of your past. Own that shit. Who cares what happened from the 90’s onward?
Such a brilliant song! I saw them in London in the 80s, not long after ‘Floodland’ was released. This year, in October the band played in New Zealand and Australia- they are still brilliant and great to hear them live again in Auckland. I was surprised that the venue - the Power Station wasn’t packed! It should have been!
I discover Sister of Mercy in a Rock magazine in Argentina and i went straight to find their music, plus some charts choose this Corrosion and i was hooked . Andrew is one of the sexiest and intelligent men in Music. I allways love to hear his interviews.
The gorgeous gorgeous Patricia Morrison - last I saw of her she was on bass for the Damned at Dingwalls. But as for that Taylor feller - I imagine he's still a big a berk as he was then.
The Mister is sooo selve-lovin, that he aint no good. I loved this song, when I was a teenager. If all humans would be so arrogant and big headded and so narzistie... there will be no more rain to love human . All 2 crazy 2 stopp? good greatings from Hamburg, dearest.!
@@uberalles2 Miss Morrisson must have a preference or high tolerance for dorks. She's described her former bandmate Jeffrey Lee Pierce as a goofy (but loveable) dork with a huge ego.
Are you from Belgium as me? I have an interview from Bingo TV show I guess with the Cult at Vooruit 1985 + some short live video but it is in bad shape. Do you have that one? thnx Joeri
Hi I'm from the UK and sorry but i've not seen the cult Bingo I think i've posted all the cult stuff I have now I collected all these tapes in the Eighties and they've just sat in a garage ever since thought it would be nice to share, i've redone the Mission without the promo videos
God i loved this band. Always thought Eldritch was the godfather of goth, and The Reptile House EP was perfect and uncompromising (Siouxsie, despite her not liking the idea, is the godmother), with Pete Murphy a close second to AE (as an aside, the beginning of the hunger is beyond cool). Not forgetting the other members of the bands, who had massive inputs, including the original Sisters (Some Kind of Stranger is one of my favourite songs ever, but I dont reckon it's goth). Choosing one song from each for pure gothness I'd go Marian, Red Light and Bela Lugosi's Dead. But Id never seen Eldritch in an interview before I saw this. Judging by the comments, it seems to have divided some opinions as to whether he's being ironic and witty, or just a knob. I cant decide. I agree that hes a bit snotty and the foot on the table was naff, but I do like that he wears two pairs of pants. 😂
Being a Steinman fan it was nice to see/hear Eldritch sing Jim's praises. I think there was a mutual respect based on intelligence and sticking to their guns
I used to think this, but if you dig deeper you might find you enjoy the old stuff just as much. Watch 'Wake', the last live concert from the pre-Patricia line-up. It's perfection.
As an image for the band, yes. The 2 of them looked good together but Patricia didn't play any bass on the second album even though she was hired to do so. Andrew wrote and played all of the music. The only time Patricia played bass and contributed musically on any project with Andrew was on the Sisterhood album (not Sisters of Mercy), "Gift" The bass on that album was all her. The "Lucretia" bassline was all Andrew.
@@MetzGaming I watched a bootleg DVD of WAKE recently which was good,i must admit however I do prefer the later music ,I love FLOODLAND & GIFT albums.....
@@johnhall9825 that’s cool. I’ve kinda gone the other way, I started with Floodland and slowly worked into the early works. Dominion/Lucretia still my favourites though.
People say that These two never once had a relationship. Yes I know she is married to the Damned singer. But nothing between them the entire time? I wouldn't be able to keep my hands off her! I would ask permission of course first!
Did... did she said “The Mission” in front of Uncle Andrew? No wonder why he said “The good guys”, but dunno what he was thinking of that same moment; maybe his head was about to start boiling hard... 😰😰😰
