Another engaging “half hour” with you two. I can’t decide which of the stories was funnier - Arne buying enough fish for six months or the neighbour stuck in the trash palace!!! It is so good to have a laugh these days. The houndstooth pattern on the vintage cushion project is amazing. I would never have thought of that!!! ❤️ from 🇨🇦

OMG I'm laughing so hard at the garbage story because this also happened to me! I live in a condo (in So. Burlington, Vermont) and one day I was putting the garbage and recycling in the shed provided when a big gust of wind came and the door slammed shut and there was no way to open it from the inside. Luckily there are windows with screens on the shed so I started screaming bloody murder and very quickly a nice man came by and let me out. So embarrassing -- but funny!

I love the houndstooth on your needlework project. I would never have thought to add a pattern like that to a floral needlework picture. I guess that's why you're the designers! :) The result is stunning. Your poor neighbor, what a thing to have happen! When you mentioned that it could never happen to you because of the dog's leash I thought you could get a strip of leather and hang one end on a hook outside the door on the doorframe. When you open the door and go in, take the strip and hook it on the inside of the doorframe so it acts as a wedge between the frame and the door if the door were to blow closed again. A thought?? Take care guys.

You will make me into a knitter yet - the poodle is ADORABLE and I love the Easter items you are making. Instead of knitting I will use your designs in my quilting. Arne, Nancy Drew was a huge favorite of mine growing up. I often think about those books and now you have me thinking about reading one again. So cool that you are going through the whole series. Love to you both. I'm going to rewatch this one for sure. Thanks for the dose of happiness.

We got a new dog. Because our old one died two weeks ago. And when your Knit for a bit is on its time for walking with her. She reminds us of Freja. She is very energetic and she is called Jilly. So we have to watch you later. I adore your poodles. Especially the pink one. I am sure the other two will be as cute when they are finished. What a story about your neighbour lady! And the fish Arne bought. Laughing. I know a person who would do similar things like Arne did, I imagine he would exactly the same in that situation. Thanks for making the start of my day so bright with your wonderful stories. Looking forward to watch the eggs knitting stories.

These sit and knit videos are hilarious. I can’t even knit but I have decided that I must learn so I can take part. The story about the neighbour brought tears to my eyes. I can’t decide if it’s better for strangers to use your bins for rubbish or the back of your palace for a toilet! Have you thought about using a hook for the palace door so it can’t blow shut? That’s what we use on our allotment shed.

I love the houndstooth pattern. I remember the first sewing pattern I made was for a dress for my little sister. It was black and white houndstooth, and we both loved the way it turned out. I totally sympathize with the trash problem. Around here, there are some people who just throw their trash out of the car windows as they ride by, and it ends up at the edge of our yard. Our garbage men wouldn't pick it up either, so many times I - or my husband - will have to walk out and pick it up and discard or recycle. Argghhhh! Our young grandchildren get upset and want us to do SOMETHING, but what is there to do . . . just clean it up. That's better than screaming in the garage palace, ha ha! And, the fish story had me howling!

Such a fabulous tribute to honour and complete someone elses work. I think it's lovely to learn the history and perhaps pay homage to the original crafter. Perhaps her family will see it? It may interest you to know there's a local man here in Alberta Canada who makes a living clearing hoarder houses - he always uncovers a life story, and we learn wonderful insights to the original artisan. One was a musician, the other a potter, and both ladies' legacies are beyond their hoarding, as we know about their lifes passions and intent. So you never know, while finishes those stitch work patterns you may learn an interesting history and be able to share another story. Thanks again for your ease and sharing.

When I was a little girl, I remember my mother doing needlepoint (what you are calling embroidery). She would purchase "commenced needlepoint". That means someone has already done the picture in the middle, such as the flowers on the project you just showed us, and you would purchase yarn to do the background. It was easy to needlepoint: no pattern or color changes, just a simple stitch in one color. Very calming.

Arne the hound tooth background is just gorgeous! I have finished two of those flower needlepoint from my box full of UFO's I bought and have two more to to. i watched your decision making for the background of Arne's UFO petit point thrift find and was appalled. Today when I saw the ongoing project I was amazed. Thank you so much for opening my eyes. I love you two. From 🇨🇦

Oh I need to do the poodle pattern. Love it. You met my poodle at the Armstrong yarn store when you were here. So enjoyed your time with us. Carlos I still have the photos of you holding Sophie. Take care you two.

Arne, your black and white background design on the floral needlepoint canvas looks great! A modern contrast to complement the Victorian feel of the floral center. I even like the look.of the black and brown areas you haven't yet filled in with white stitching. That kind of effect is popular with needlepointing in the USA - letting some of the unstitched background canvas show as part of the overall design. I did that on my last needlepoint project and am pleased with the result.

Hi Arne and Carlos, I found discussion of completing someone else's UFO's most engaging and charming. Then on to the garden mouse, and finally the poodles swimming. So charming and so many images.

For the garbage palace, hang a bull horn on the inside in case of getting locked in again OR, install a panic button. Good idea felting the balls and the fiberfill stuffing. Can't wait for the knit-a-long and learning more about Norway. It just dawned on me... I used to work for someone from Norway, president of an environmental company--that's why a lot of the Christmas traditions you talked about were so familiar! Wonderful. --KateColors

I really like the idea of finishing UFOs of others with complete contrast style/colors. It could be super fun and trendy. I may have to copy you!

This brought back a memory of getting locked in a public pay toilet in a basement of a small dept. store in the old town in Berne, Switzerland. I knew that the store would be closed for the weekend in about 45 minutes. Had no idea if anyone in the store would come down EVER AGAIN! So, I yelled for help and someone heard me after several minutes. Miracle. So a fellow showed up with a tool belt, beat around on the door, and guess what he said when he opened the door (finally)? "You broke the lock!" I let fly in English because I didn't know how to swear in Bernese. And swanned off. Really! But I will not go into a pay toilet EVER AGAIN!

Great episode today! :) I was the person who also collects unfinished objects. I saw that you mentioned maybe me?? I pick up the unfinished objects just like Arne does. During the last few years we have found that when we can go out at all antique stores, and charity shops are open and with only a few customers so my husband and I go and fine inexpensive things (way cheaper than online shopping) that are fun, inspirational and keep us sane! I have found mostly embroidery projects that are unfinished from the 50's-70's. I have never found any needlepoint projects but would love it if I could. I also pick up old knit/crochet and lacemaking books and pamphlets. I talk about them sometimes on a youtube channel I share with my partner Kelli Slack (BlackSheep Fiber Emporium).

Yes, many times the flowers (the difficult part) were already done and the purchaser could finish the background which would be simple needlepoint in one color. Love the houndstooth background to give it an updated edgy look!

First of all, let me thank you for your having participated in the Tohoku Reborn Project in Japan. The tragedy was so heartbreaking but people out there are so strong, especially I admire those women's efforts to re- construct their everyday life. There are many beautiful handcrafts here in Japan. I hope you would come back to our country to share your wonderful handcrafts with us someday very soon. I am a big fan of both of you and enjoying your podcasts.

The fish truck story was wild but at least it has a delicious outcome. I’m currently reading a book about wool fibers and the different qualities each breed of sheep has. It’s been very inspiring in my decision making for yarn purchases . I’ve taken extra care to look for heritage breeds to help preserve traditional sheep species. I’m now looking around for some pretty spring colors for my eggs patterns.
