The amount of power the F4 had, especially for a 1960s fighter, is insane. The fact that it kept its maneuverability even more so. The Tiger might be light but I doubt it could out climb even a fully loaded Phantom.
@@benhardsatrio8222 On my.... I don't know how many times I've watched this now.... viewing.... I noticed that both pilots were pushing their planes to the absolute limit. The Tiger may not have been able to climb with the Phantom, but had M1 not gotten the kill there, he'd have been a sitting duck since such a stall would've basically caused his J79s to choke. He still had enough power to spin the gun for a burst, and he got the kill... but notice he had to remain perfectly level for a moment after that... those engines needed a re-light so he could get home.
@@Tank50usAround 2:35-2:37 you can actually see the nozzle move as Mobius 1 finished pivoting his nose down, so I don’t think those J79s flamed out back then. I think the pilot doing the sequence actually cut throttle to idle coming down from the climb to prevent any asymmetric thrust from spinning the aircraft or throwing off his aim, and only applied minimal thrust afterwards as he’s in nose down attitude and is already gaining speed just from gravity + minimal thrust, at least enough to point the nose where it needs to be to take the kill shot.
@@Tank50usAlso, notice that Mobius 1 stalled out at almost the same time as the F-5. Goes to show how air combat is also a duel of luck and calculated risks.
Thanks Andrew! This mission was the beginning for me. I traded the cool pens with fake fish swimming in some blue oil and water inside of it for my friends copy of AC04 at a bus stop on a rainy dark morning sometime around 2002 or 2003. I remember sneaking a view of the box art from my backpack whenever I got the chance. If only I knew how it would change my life !
Thank you sir! Glad you enjoyed it, and more so that it brings you and others back to such a top-tier game and time of our lives, when the tube TV hummed and tommorow seemed like ages away. Have a nice week!
Far better/more realistic air combat choreography than almost any big budget movie, and with better cinematography to boot. Excellent all around a normal.
Ace Combat 4 was my first ever Ace Combat game, I still remember to this day the first mission and how it captured my attention. This video really hit the nostalgia memories and all the fun I had playing the game. Thank you for making videos like these and for the hard work you put into them!
Another great video. Much higher details than before Especially showing more nature shots, the inside of the enemy craft and how they break up. Nice use of the background dialogue for the RIO in the F4 and also the F4's strength in vertical climbs. Though the worker in front of the explosion did seem a little off like it was green screened. Though that could just be me.
Thanks Gavin! I appreciate the feedback on both ends. I had trouble tracking the motion during the explosion shake, so the worker is indeed slightly off-pace. You've got a good eye! With each one I get better, so hopefully in the future I will spend a bit more time tightning up stuff like that. Cheers!
@@Nassault You definitely deserve the praise for the aforementioned details, like the sound of the hydraulics moving to open the spoilers/ailerons at 1:17 and them struggling to stay open is beautiful! Also have to congratulate you on the storyboarding. I wrote a comment on that already so I'll spare you that verbosity a second time lol. For the worker at 1:06, maybe, in a separate project, greenscreen him separately, render that clip, stick it back into the main project's timeline, and then shake the clip itself with him in it? My editing software has horrible motion tracking algorithms so I have to come up with workarounds like this constantly.
This mission is hard-coded into my memory so hard - AC04 was my very first PS2 game (and that Duck Hunt in the intro is probably the first video game I've ever played!). It really brings back the memories, very very fond and precious ones at that. I've been watching your videos for a long time but this one is special - thank you for this.
absolutely incredible work. You really showed off the details on heatblur's F-4 module. It looks so damn good. I really digged that maneuver the F-5 did.
Every video You do has this feeling... It's that feeling when the story really takes ahold of You,when each launch of a Fox-2 is felt on Your bones. I thank You again for giving me a shiver Nassault, and of course,Ace Combat or not.. I'm happy to fly under Your wings.
4 was the first game i ever picked out for myself as a kid. This mission is practically seared into my memory. Incredible job. Also you gotta post that Mobius 1 skin on the user files man, I have a mighty need
WOW! Nassault you didn't need to go this hard on this video. Super damn impressive work! What a fantastic debut for the HB F-4E in your content too! It's an honour to help in a small way towards this and I had a smile seeing the credits.
You can tell Nassault have been really improving far forward by seeing the dogfight between Mobius 1 and Wang. That was superb. Keep it up man, and thank you!
Your best work yet! This may be short, but it leaned in heavily to a legitimate dogfight, both pilots using their aircrafts' advantage. Genuine suspense after the missile at 2:05 doesn't land, since everything was on that missile connecting and an extended dogfight would put the Phantom at a disadvantage. You've genuinely positioned the two planes with the fight beginning to go the other way and asked the audience "what now?" and that's brilliant. The F-5 stalling out and its compressors letting out a big puff of smoke, both its missiles spent, is just icing on the cake - it's the calculated answer, "go up", in the most dramatic way possible. Great sound design this time around, killer attention to detail on the specialties of both aircraft. The evolution to here (Sitting Ducks, Diapason, Package Q) from earlier, missile-heavy works is insane. I'm invested in the protagonist, rocks are flying, and the tree has never seemed taller.
The attention to detail is mindblowing! Cant even imagine how many man hours go into each video. Your videos are awesome especially the AC04 ones, may that game live forever!
holy crap i saw your comment and your name/pfp seemed familiar as hell, turns out we have a mutual friend on steam lmfaoooo but that aside, I agree! Nassault uploads are always an escape haha
I’m honestly filled with nostalgia right now, this was the first game, the first mission, that made me passionate about aviation and the military as a whole. The art you make really hits home for me. Thanks for the video and may we see you in the skies again!!
This is awesome! Great job as always! I wasn’t able to go the military pilot route but recently got my private pilots certificate. Ace Combat played the biggest role in this passion. Thanks Nassault!
I grew up playing this game on the PS2. And in my imagination as a child, this is how I always imagine came looked to me at the time 20 years later hearing the sounds the music. The voices really brings me back and highlights how awesome of an experience I had going up with this. Your edits are amazing man. Don’t let a soul tell you otherwise.
Nassault, im out of words. I see all you videos and this one is one more of your magestic tallent, seriously. How in the hell you do such bodies animations like 0:45 , and the music, sound effects, camera angles. Youre such talented man, and with this videos you made my best 12 minutes of the day (ive seen in 3 times) . I just want to thank you and please continue doing this artworks. You make all ace combat fans such a nostalgic combined with masterpiece video...Thank you for continiusly rip off the boundaries of DCS cinematics ❤❤❤👏🏼💪🏼🤟🏼
This is incredibly good. The shots with the birds, especially the transition and the one with the bomber crashing into the ocean, were incredible! And the soundtrack going in the background too, just perfect! Ace Combat 4 content is my favorite and this is another absolute banger. That F-4 Mobius 1 skin is one of my favorite aircraft liveries ever as well. Love seeing it featured here!
There’s no words that describe how good this is. This genuinely makes Ace Combat realistic instead of the arcade like tone and appearance we’re used to and I fucking love it so much.
Amazing! I always love seeing you add an ace to challenge Mobius and put him on the ropes, it definitely adds to the skills of Mobius and the persistence of the Eruseans!
I never was able to get into ac4 like the other games but I can recognize how good the game must have been to play back when it came out and this video captures that really well. Keep making these videos dude, they’re the best.
This brought back that cherished Saturday evening back in 2003 my dad bought me a ps2, he bought ace combat 4 because we both loved aviation and this mission was it.
thought it was so awesome that you also included the work that goes into editing these scenes together. You are killer at editing! Thanks for bringing my Acecombat childhood to life.
When the world needed him most.... He returned for more Ace Combat videos! Thanks for your content, literally it's the closest we have to an Ace Combat movie.
Another legendary cinematic! It's been awesome to see you improving bit by bit as well (though I love all your cinematics regardless) -- your style captures this intimate visceral feel in the details and I can't get enough of it 😍This is what I show to my friends when they ask what Ace Combat is like!
Phantastic Video all around. I love the F-4 Phantom II, and I love Ace Combat. What's better than that? A DCS CINEMATIC MADE BY NASSAULT TO COMBINE ALL OPH THEM! Keep up the good work, because this content is just simply amazing!
Fucking Cinematic masterpeice as always! Flawless animation, cinematography and editing. Project Aces should remake these games and hire you to make the trailers :D
That was awesome. I love this mission. Always felt like it starts with ISAF on their knees and Mobius One and the rest of the squadron come to save the island and the people on it. That Dark Blue Phantom is one of my favourite colour schemes
Lo and behold, as I am thinking about Nassault's wonderful cinematography, I am blessed with another of his creations. The world truly is a large coincidence
Incredibly well done as always!! I love the little popups, just like old times. This mission was an excellent choice too. It's got one of my favorite tracks in the game. I got a job working with drones in September, it's my first career job. I had the "Sitting Duck" track playing in my car on the way over for my first day.
3:14 even though you got my name wrong, I'm surprised to see myself in the credits! Thank you for using my mod even if I think it's a bit iffy. If I had known you would've used it; I would've put more work onto it haha... Great video as always by the way, love the choreography!
Oh no! Sorry bud. My clinical dyslexia has been a part of my videos since the very beginning 😢 I always put a lot of work into the videos but every now and then I spell stuff wrong, despite staring at the text for weeks and improving in skill. It's basically a trademark at this point that I spell stuff wrong ahah. I appreciate your work Sanikku! Could not have done it without it C:
