Sitting in the Rain for ASMR, Relaxation & Sleep

It was raining one morning (September 6, 2022 to be exact), so I rushed to put on my thrift store best, then grabbed an umbrella along with my recording gear and a lawn chair. I then proceeded post-haste into the back yard to capture the authentic sound of the rain falling onto the aforementioned device of protection from inclement weather elements. I used a pair of in-ear binaural microphones, so it will sound like you're right there with me. Unfortunately, this ended up being the last 40 minutes of the rain, so I looped the steadiest/best 15 minutes in order to make this long enough for relaxation and sleeping purposes.

When I was in first grade or so my dad used to pick me up from school in his old blue truck. One day on the way home it rained briefly, and the sound of the raindrops on the roof was the first time I’d ever felt ASMR. It’s one of my earliest memories, and oh my god this recreates it perfectly.. This is, like, peak Ephemeral Rift for me

I actually love rain sounds when it’s against an umbrella, I was convinced there were no videos with the specific sound so I recorded my own low quality 1 minute video when it was raining at my house, and then I came across this video, and I get to enjoy the sound in a much better quality, for a longer period of time!

When I saw this video I thought na most ASMR people would have pre recorded sound over the inserted background but with this guy I know that's NOT the case lol lol. He rocks big time love his videos. I think an ASMR of 2 people talking while it is raining would be a nice one. Some people just find the sound of rain and the rain itself a thing of relaxation. Having tea or coffee and just catching up with the sounds of rain fall in the background is fairly nice. A gazebo would be great too as the clear sound of rain along with the subtle cold breeze that comes with it.

this makes me think of the weather CDs and tapes (recordings of rain, thunder, etc) I would check out from the library as a wee kid in the early 90s. I remember one had a little story in one of the cassette booklets of the guy hiding out under some leaves in a jungle then turning on his recorder to catch the sounds of the jungle rain. thanks for the nice video and nostalgia trip 🙂.
