I think Galatta Plus and BR must consider taking more interviews like this, not just focusing on actors, directors, and musicians. Thoroughly enjoyed the entire interview.
Mr. Baradwaj Rangan do you understand what you're doing here? You have genuinely revolutionised the concept of cinema interviews. These are not just interviews, they are genuine study material for anyone who wants to learn cinema and be in them. For the next few generations to come, we will have filmmakers who can look back and learn from these interviews and the fact that this is accessible to basically anyone, more and more people will appreciate the art and the work that goes behind cinema. For the longest time, I had been extremely jealous of all the criterion collection extras and DVD commentaries, that come for western cinema. With the past few years, you have contributed to a huge library of video interviews that go hand in hand with understanding our cinema. Thank you for sticking to what you want to do and being you! And yes, this is one of the best breakdowns of a movie as important as Ponniyin Selvan. Thank you.
Very rightly said!!! Most of the interviews these days focus on asking people how did u feel working with X, what did they say about Y, and so on. This is a pure cinephile helping other cinephiles. BRs interviews can be collated as film making courses.
So true man, I also appriciate a lot from the side of audience, lot of his interviews are real nerd stuff and people are finding it interesting and tuning to it , great.
Dear Siva, this is your mom . Feeling proud to watch the wonderful interview. Hats off to you & Bharathwaj. Beautiful questions / lovely answers. Shall I take it as your gift to me for Mother’s Day ? 🎉
Awesome chat , mam.. You are blessed with a great son.. could understand the amount of working that has been done at the back stage in the making of PS.. ManiRathnam sir is so lucky to have him beside.. The lyrics for the song Alaikadal was extraordinary by Siva Ananth & AR Rahman has added more spice to uplift the song.. A favourite song of mine. If I am not mistaken, Siva plays a role as mama in Chekka sivantha vanum.. am I right ?
The point where Siva Ananth mentions his team as future (film) writers/producers/directors, really hit me deep. Newbies!! They take you SERIOUSLY !! WOW. Deconstructing a mammoth project like Ponniyin Selvan, which is like a cookbook for future filmmakers is something big ! The point where Siva thinks a lot about the 26k INR in a production running for 500 Crore INR. Money is money. Thanks a ton, BR and Galatta Plus !
This interview is one of the best entrepreneurial class for an example of an Operations and Logistics. These two guys breezed out use-cases around Demand, Supply, Planning, Distribution and Response. Brilliant Q&A between BR and Siva Ananth. I personally, thoroughly loved it. One sample MASTER CLASS. Nice to see Chezhiyan (Siva Ananth) in full swing after Chekka Chivantha Vaanam. Great going BR.
That Call Sheet is such a piece of information for the public out there to just understand the amount of setup that goes into a film shoot day. (A fellow AD from the industry.)
Such a fascinating interview. What a wonderful team behind this magnificent movie and I feel so blessed that PS was made into a movie in my life time. I read PS 58 yrs ago and reread it for the second time last year before watching PS1. I simply loved the movie and enjoyed both parts with much appreciation. Now, I will read PS again and keep watching PS again and again. Thanks, Mani Sir and stay blessed always with such an efficient team. BR cannot thank you enough for such great interviews.
Take a bow to the entire team of PS to have pulled this huge feat off ! Was always wondering how this was made possible and to listen to it in its details is really satisfying. Thanks to BR for this and petition to bring more such actual film making discussions to light ! :)
wow.. baradwaj's interview with this guy in FC was a really informative one. helped in understanding role of EP in film production. Another one about P.S .. excited !! (thoughts on seeing the notification.havent watched the interview yet.)
Great interview. But I must point out that this was not the first movie to be split into two parts. Vishwaroopam was the also similarly broken up, for one. I'm sure there are more examples.
People who talked negatively should watch this interview. Great effort by the team. Through this, let me congratulate each one of the team - very good job
This interview...conversation...is a masterclass on production, management and cinema as a whole.... Ufffff! Thank you, BR sir for choosing to have this conversation...
Awesome work by production team.. So systematic & methodical.. Wonderful Siva Ananth sir.. We can see the amount of planning in PS film making.. Shows communication and coordination is so important for success.
This is one of the best interviews! Thanks BR for asking amazing questions and Siva for sharing valuable knowledge!! The sharing not necessarily benefits budding artist and technicians, bt it also helped me who is from the IT industry as a project manager! Thanks once again 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Interesting interview!!! It's always interesting to know abt the making of a cinema!! I just wanted to mention here that BR being a experienced guy in his field, why does he always have problem to put his questions CLEAR without searching for words? It takes forever for him to complete a question straight. It sure is frustrating as a viewer. At the end yes, his questions are very relevant and tries to get max info from the guest. Not just for this interview, in all his interviews he has this problem . He definitely have to work on this!
@padmaiyer3ps yes , His questions flows from the answers ,that I can understand and that's what makes his interviews more natural! But he is not new to this work right , why can't he work on that stumbling ?!... I don't know ,I felt this from very long time.. I wish he works on that !
@@preeths05 It doesnt get easy... ever... I have done this, so I can relate... and when you are thinking as you are talking... it is all the more difficult.
@padmaiyer3ps I have seen many other good interviewers work who has this same natural way of having a conversation with the guest. I haven't seen such a problem with them. Thier questions comes with a good flow! I don't want to mention names here though. And BR being an experienced person and a national award winning journalist cannot say such excuses! He definitely have to work on that!
@@preeths05 He is a journalist... not a professional interviewer. A good interviewer/anchor may not be a good journalist and vice versa. And he has made no excuses. There are interviews of his which are not like this. See the Kamal Interview or the one VS.
One suggestion. Kindly put English translation of South Indian languages ,in a running scroll at the bottom. Will help everyone to enjoy the fruits of your labor of love and paticipatively educative
Hi sir, its pleasure to show us the schedule sheet of PS movie, could you please upload in pdf format, so that it may useful reference for technicians.
This was an absolutely amazing and insightful conversation!!! I am a big big fan of anything to do with cinema and I really thank you for doing what you are doing just engaging and educating the audience on this artform!!
At 3.15. Truly wish that all other seasoned people will be inspired to follow the suit and adopt such kinds of audience education, which will go a long way. Komal/ Anu ru hearing
Oru Nalla padatha kudutha mariye pesranga paarunga saar. Production efforts however tough it is goes unnoticed when the underlying story and the movie as a whole is not good. PS movies are not MR's best, and production sucked in those war scenes too. Someone will laugh at PS like they laughed for Parthiban kanavu I guess 😂
It’s a good movie according to critics and the box office. If you don’t like it, you’re in the minority. Seri according to you, yethu nalla padam, sollunga.
Completion and release of this movie is an achievement in itself. I don't think anyone is laughing at MR rather surprised about his will power to complete this.
