Super great video! Hope you found Stan's in Hanksville for cheeseburgers and junk food peripherals such as overfilled milk shakes that mimic the structure of Wingate rimrock!

Wow I remember hiking down there in the 80s and 90s and not having the urge to spew my ego all over the place.

Bronco Stomps, barking spiders! Believe it or not, I understand that code phrase. Ha ha! The soil is cryptogamic soil. I've been to Canyonlands several times through the years, seeing the other 2 districts rather extensively. But, the only thing I've done in the Maze is 1) just past the confluence (Green/Colorado), we stopped on a 3-day rafting trip, where the others rested, but I climbed a short, STEEP trail directly into the Doll House. 2) Went past Hans Flat to the first parking lot, then headed down the trail to a place where I could look down several hundred feet to a vast plain, and a very narrow trail down to it, at which point I chickened out, spent the night at the top, and hiked out the next morning. Still was beautiful, as was this video.

Good video. How confident were you that you would find water, and did you have specific places to look for water?

Flyingsel, thanks! Water isn’t an issue in the maze however Ernie’s country was a bit dry. Stop at the ranger station in Hans Flat and the Rangers have an up to date list of the water sources and will circle them on your map.

Thanks! I spent 4 days in the Maze district in May, 2018. I called Hans Flat a few days before, and the ranger would not give me any helpful information on water sources (i.e. he said 'there may be water in the springs.' Where are the springs? Answer, 'in the canyons.'). So, we came in by jet boat to Spanish Bottom and carried 4+ gallons. Next time, I would like to stay longer, and I'd prefer to carry less water. I'll definitely check back in with the rangers next time.

@@TurboBroncoThndrbolt Hats off to you guys backpacking that. You are obviously comfortable with class 4 climbing without rope except maybe to raise and lower packs. The National Geographic map lists reliable springs, but not so reliable in summer. Unreliable slickrock water collections. Saw two total in one very steep side canyon that received alot of shade even along it's river wash. Your experience way different than mine because I went this past late July. Monsoon season did not happen. Used 4 WD Jeep for access to campgrounds and limited myself to long dayhikes because of water issue.

Good morning, I’m a producer for a fun news show called "The List" - www.thelisttv.com - which airs on 43 stations in the US. I’ve been assigned an segment about some of the most adventurous locations across America. I would love to use a small portion of the video you made about The Maze in Canyonlands and give you a graphical courtesy. Please let me know if you would be ok with this. Thanks and have a great day! Mike Dunn Producer - The List
