You mentioned one reason you purchased this unit was the looks. I purchased a 2018 TERYX 4 because I really liked the looks. I thought it was beautiful! But man was that a mistake! I had a radio installed and could not even hear it when we were riding, with a full windshield in hot weather you will roast! The engine heat is awful! And it only went 49 mph! I purchased it brand new had $3000 worth of accessories added before I brought it home, and traded it in the next year on a Ranger XP 1000 EPS Ride Command Polaris Pursuit and LOVE it! It's top speed if 66 mph, it's quiet, no heat issues even with a front and back glass windshield, the stereo system is fantastic! There really is no comparison in quality, engineering or fun factor. It was a very expensive lesson, research, test drive and research.
Totally agree. You definitely want to do your homework on each unit before you make your decision. I am very happy I picked the Polaris Ranger xp 1000. Thanks for watching!
The perfect SxS does not exist. Keep that in mind when shopping for ANYTHING - SxS, ATV, UTV, motorcycles, cars, trucks, a wife or husband ... Work around the negatives and relish the positives.
Dan Burch the honda pioneer with stage 5 elka shocks and a boss v plow full hydraulic is perfect machine. I can jump it. I can plow snow with it. I can haul ass down the trail. Or put mud tires on a mud with a full locker.
If you lift the ranger and put 30's on it buy upgraded axles. You will break axles left and right with that lift and tire combo. I went through 6 OEM axles with a 2 inch lift and 29.5 tires. Finally bought rhino axles and never broke again. Only use turf mode when you need it and it will hold up. I agree oem accessories are very expensive, but they are better quality 9 out of 10 times. Nice looking ranger I hope you enjoy it!
Wow 6 axles that sucks. Thanks for the info. I already lifted it and put 30s on it but now I have to buy forward a arms because of rubbing issues in the front tire.
Great machine and great video i bought a 2018 general yes the accessories are expensive but they fit and work properly i have spent close to 5000 accessorizing my machine and i put 1400 miles on it the first year and am very happy with the machine and the ad ons i still plan to put in a furnace and upper doors because it gets a little cold here in Mn have a great day be safe.
Thank you! They are great machines and i almost bought a General but went with the Ranger. I just wish the factory accessories were more affordable for us normal guys. Thanks for watching.
The doors are an option so you can pick what you want. If you want doors, get an SUV. Working on ranches down here in Texas we appreciate how easy it is to hop in and out with no doors.
That makes sense for you guys down south and living in a different weather climate. I use mine on a farm and use it for recreational purposes so I like having doors to keep the elements out. Plus it gets cold up here in the winter. Also, you cant use a SUV on a farm FYI. Thanks for watching!
Great video. I have had a couple rangers and the painting they do on the frame has always been a weakness, they really need to do a better job on that. Also I agree they should have half doors as standard equipment on it.
It's a balancing act making a machine for everybody. Some don't want a jacked up Ranger with big tires. I would imagine most Rangers are left stock. Polaris accessories are expensive but they seem to be good quality. I wish they would give discounts to people that buy new machines from the dealer. As an appreciation for buying from them. I have had a few Rangers and the frames are all like this. They need more quality control with them. I do disagree with the most hp. I wish Polaris would get out of the hp war and refine their machine more. I would take an overall better machine over the most hp. Maybe make a performance model for those that want the most power. I don't really like the 1000 front end. Has to much grille. I really like the 900 and wish they would have updated that look more. I won't buy anything but Polaris. They make a good machine. Nobody makes a perfect anything.
@UTV DIRT very nice, informative video as usual, I agree with everything you, and the other people’s comments. Thank God , so far all my paint still looks good on my North Star, but it’s also new with only three pressure washes. I paid my 2019 North Star $31,000 with tax title, license, Heavy duty rapid recovery 6000 pound winch with the wireless remote. Also I purchased a 6 year warranty, and VIP full service maintenance 3 year warranty, it also has the ride command,,which is the screen, radio, Bluetooth, and front and rear cameras, gps etc. I love my unit, it’s very expensive I know, but I have to say I don’t regret it. If someone is willing to shell out that kind money, I can tell everyone it’s an amazing unit, and I’m about to put the doors with the power windows and prewiring for door speakers. I have the roll up window doors from the factory. I love your unit, it’s very nice 👍🏻 only reason I bought the North Star was for my 76 year old Momma to use when she does yard work, that AC and Heater comes in very handy lol, I’m not bragging, just letting folks know about the North Star edition. Thanks again for your awesome videos. Please keep them coming.
Wow it sounds like you have a very nice unit. I would of loved to have a Northstar but it was just not in my budget to afford. I really like my unit and enjoy doing videos and showing all of you guys my installs and stuff. I guess you could say it's my hobby lol. Thanks for watching!
UTV DIRT thanks so much, it’s very nice, and it’s the rare color of Steel Blue I think it’s called. And I can totally understand a budget, but I love your Polaris, and I understand, I love all the upgrades you show us , especially how you install things. I really appreciate you and your channel, you have really helped me decide on the upgrades you have done to your Polaris, I will be doing most of the same mods, unfortunately I can’t lift mine or program it, the dealer said Polaris would void my warranty, and I really don’t want that. But ima feel them out, I may do just the plug and play programmer from Super ATV if it don’t leave a footprint in the computer. Thanks again, and I don’t miss a single video of yours, I watch them all. Best on RU-vid!!!
Maybe they addressed some of your thoughts on things in the 2019s? Or maybe luckier in the upcoming 2020s? As far as accessories cost, it’s almost like you need to get an agreement from your salesman on a future accessories discount before he gets your order for the machine? The % of people that add accessories has to be huge. The profit margin had to be off the charts!
Hey guys I really love your videos I've been watching him here for quite a while I'm getting ready to purchase a brand new ranger XP 1000 probly the fall of 2021 and I'm just curious do you think there's a way to put a mounting bracket on the back of it to put one of those backup lights you put on your ranger so I can avoid the the muffler because I was going to hook up some tubs behind it for ice fission and that light down below would work really well just let me know if you think that's a possibility are a few could do that on a video I'd really appreciate it thanks!! Jason South Dakota.
Nice! You will definitely like your Ranger when you get it. I was surprised when I seen that they moved the muffler to the back of the new Rangers. I liked it better on the side out of the way. To answer your question you could probably make a bracket and install the light under the bed and make it work. Shouldn't be to hard of project. Good luck! Thanks for watching!
I have a 2019 Ranger Xp 1000 EPS and I'm making some upgrades. What headlights did you install and from where? Like you said.... accessories for the Polaris are way to high.
The great thing for us buyers is RU-vid, the great equalizer a few bad reviews on a machine will go a long ways to lost profits for Polaris the Japanese are always pushing the limits and making improvements. Polaris is already one step behind in some regards paint being number one the Japanese models don’t rust , and they tend to pay attention to the small details which are the ones that piss you off when you just spent 15 to 20 grand they all add up, this is where the Japanese excel be careful Polaris. Or you’ll get kicked in the teeth by 80-year-old billion dollar corporation‘s , Or Can-Am who are perfectionists and want to own the market( do) because you had a meeting and decided “good enough“ was good enough and it’s not.
People should talk with their wallets but you know the wont they'll keep buying rzrs cause they look cool when in fact polaris makes the biggest piles of junk.
I have the exact same machine, and you are spot on with the goods and the bads! Although I do love it! What was the name of the blinker kit you put on I did like that!
I just bought a pioneer 700, in your opinion what windshield should I get? I know the glass ones are better do not scratch. Is there a certain brand that you used?
Crying about the tires and stuff....you knew what you were buying when you bought it! I have the motoart lift kit and 2 inch spacers all the way around. I have the polaris winch. I have no complaints!
It's a overall great unit and these are minor issues that would not deter me from buying this unit if I had to do it all over again. Thanks for watching.
Half the stuff you don't like... well it's standard equipment and you bought the rig that way? I mean you saw it had no doors and 27 inch tires, and the headlights weren't hidden from you.... but you bought it anyway. And it's easy enough to google what a winch costs...
It's a overall great unit and these are minor issues that would not deter me from buying this unit if I had to do it all over again. I am giving my opinion on how Polaris could improve their products. Thanks for watching!
@@UTVDIRT I get it, and thanks for the review... I guess what I am saying is yeah, but that's the deal with everything right? They could improve the product by doubling the horsepower and putting in a winch, 30" tires, a lift kit, a windshield... But they need to meet a price point for that particular trim level. I'm trying to choose between this and the Can Am, hard to compare apples and apples!
The Polaris Ranger and Can am Defender were my top two choices too. I ended up with the Polaris because that unit had more horsepower but now the 2020 Defender has the same 82 hp. Not sure what I would of chose if they had both matched up with hp. I guess it would be on how I liked the look of the machine after that aspect. I would wait and see what Polaris's 2020 units look like when they announce it at the end of this month and see if they made any improvements like Can am did and make your decision. Thanks
I like the Honda machine but it wasn't in my price range at the time of my purchase. I really like the Honda Talon it's a good looking unit and might be something I look at if I purchase a sport unit in the future. Thanks for watching!
You have no idea all the problems you will have with just 26 in tires the rangers are junk . I have a 2015 xp900 North Star. Junk . in one year.the voltage regulator stator goes out check the play on the axles going into the differential front and rear .with only 2450 miles . an broke down on trial twice. My honda never left me walking
I did a lot of research on all three units you have mentioned. I went to a couple of dealers and looked at each unit and i sat in them asked questions but I did not test ride any of them. I went with the Ranger because of the looks of the unit and its overall class leading horsepower. I also liked the comfort of the seats. They had a lot of cushion. I also liked the ease of adding electrical accessories with the plug n play buss bar they have. Lastly, I had a budget in mind and the Ranger had the best value for its price. Hope this helps you.
Have you ever heard of CFMoto’s UForce 1000? It comes stock with a roof, LED head and tail lights, a 3500 lbs winch, and that plug and play accessory bar! All these things while being a couple thousand dollars cheaper than the Ranger, Defender, or anything else. I’ve had a CFMoto machine for a while now and I can honestly say it is an amazingly reliable machine!
I did not know about CFMOTO until I had already purchased my Ranger. I believe I was watching a TV show about the dealers in Canada and they seemed like good units. It would of been interesting to go and look at one and compare specs with each of the units.
Another thing I meant to ask you was have you ever heard of the Intimidator GC1K series? They have 83 horsepower, come with all around LED lights, and they are manufactured 100% in America. They are also a really nice unit.
@@wildthoughtlessfilms6810 No I have not heard of that one. I am glad more company's are making these you units it gives the consumers more choices, Thanks
I suspect these are mostly made and assembled in the US? Thus, higher cost of manufacturing. Good for local jobs though. I'm finding the cost of these things are becoming difficult to justify even if I could afford it. The upper trim models cost more than my car. All of this money spent and crappy warranty. Yet, I still want to trade my XP900 for it.
I have been doing some research on pre load adjustments. I have also been looking at the stage 2 elka shocks. I will probably do some type of video on either pre load or shock upgrade in the future once I finish researching.
Would it look/be stupid to put bed liner on some parts of it?? I was thinking about doing that when I get mine, but wasn't sure if that's a good idea or not.
What parts would you be putting bed liner on? They sale mud guards, fender flares, skid plates, a arm guards for the Rangers. Not sure what part you mean.
@@UTVDIRT Like everywhere that could rust, places that are gonna get beat up the most, the bottom, the roll bars/cage where paint will chip and fade, etc. Basically anywhere that might need extra protection or ruggedness/durability.
Not sure it would look right. Let me tell what I'm going to do to help with those issues. I plan on getting my cage/roll bar powder coated satin black to give it more durability. Also, for the frame and maybe some suspension parts i might use a rust preventative paint called Por-15 it works really well. I think by doing that it will prolong the looks and longevity of the unit. Hope this helps you.
Por 15 works great. Used it on snowmobiles as well always did it to the a arms to protect them. Stands up to the abuse of hitting brush and things like that.
Sure. The turf mode in your transmission is the weak link. Some people say if you put a lift kit and big aggressive tires on it will put to much stress and there is a bolt that will back out and will bust out the back of your differential. Then there are some people who have stock tires and say they still broke. There are also some people who say they have never had a issue and have 3000 miles on their unit. It's almost a craps shoot with so many people's opinions. The owners manual says to only operate turf mode as needed to protect smooth level surfaces from tire damage. I don't use it and there are kits you can buy to delete turf mode. They aren't cheap though 750-1000 depending on what you want. Hope this helps you.
Should have got a Yamaha Wolverine X4 the Yamaha out classes the Reparis in every way in quality dependability Yamaha has a 10 year belt warranty unheard of oh and in every competetion with dirt track or atv utv magazine etc the Wolverine always gets ranked higher than any polaris
Yamaha is always playing catch up in the sxs world. I can give a warranty on any 1 part up to a lifetime and at the end of the day not many ppl keep one long enough to reach that point. 1 belt their cost is probably vlose to nothing
I bought 30s and the front tires rub when the steering wheel is turned all the way to one side so I had to buy forward a arms. My 30s measure a true 30 inch though. Not sure if a half an inch is enough to not rub. Thanks for watching!
