One thing about rebounding that I don't think gets enough attention. If you look at the Knicks rebounding edge it was mostly Hart, DiVencenzo & OG that got alot of them, not the centers. And they were not hanging around under the boards. Because of the amount of 3's in the modern game rebounds tend to bounce further away from the boards. You need those guys who can box out and get after if outside of the basket. That's where they have improved with Martin, Oubre and George. Too many folks just think about those dominant bigs rebounding under the basket and while you still need that too they got that with Embiid and Drummond. But you gotta have the other guys committed to it too.
Rebounding will still be an issue but having martin in at the end of a game instead of some old guy like batum (as much as i liked him) will help. HOnestly i think tobias to paul george in terms of rebounding is a near lateral move, they rebound pretty similarly in the playoffs. We had oubre last year starting so there's no difference there. I think they're slightly better but it'll still be an issue in end of game situations vs teams that are good at rebounding
Also hurt the team when Embiid came out of games Drummond is gonna help the bench with rebounding significantly. Mo was not good enough to get the backup center minutes. Reed to small
Drummond will be fantastic, he's big , smart, and experienced and physical and he's ready to get a Chip....... he'll be ready to back up ...... Embid and give him valid breaks
Should be the best sixers team of the embiid era. Having 5 guys on the court who can dribble and attack the basket will be huge. Martin/oubre not being great shooters will hurt a tad but this is offset by trading tobias' 3.5 attempts a game at 36% out for Paul george launching 8 a game at 41%. You now have two players in the lineup with embiid whose defenders are going to stick on them on the perimeter, and the poorer shooters wont hesitate to put it up if they get space or attack the basket. Even if maxey doesn't improve *at all* which of course he probably will, it's just a great fitting lineup. On the other side of the court this should be the sixers' best perimeter defense since ben left. The past few years there have been a lot of either bad-pretty damn flawed defenders that embiid has had to clean up after. As a result embiid should have less to do on both ends of the court than he has in years. He seems to see it that way too - he told reporters at the olympics his focus this year is to "help my teammates as much as possible, make things easy for them, so i dont have to do a lot, like in past years." That'll help a lot if he's not anchoring a defense cleaning up all game from a few 80 year olds or sieves on the perimeter while also scoring 33 points a game, both will prevent injury and also keep him fresher for the end of a game.
I feel like even if he do it's not gonna be worse the Tobias ... PG can't still shoot dribble to create space that's all we need Maxey and Embiid can carry the rest he's never gonna go 10 games avg 7.2 and 3 that's the shit Tobias did
@@jacquesmassard9226he doesn’t need to play 80 games. Thats irrelevant. No player today is playing 80 games. Being hurt isn’t chumping out. If ppl are worried about him having bad playoff games, so what. All players have them. He’s proven to have a bad game then go for 20-40 in the next game. He’s a great 3rd option for the skill set of the others AND he’s in great physical shape with again top level offensive ability. He can do every on offense you want for a forward
Thank You Tobias Harris for being useful for two things.. Leaving the sixers and signing with Detroit, its the reason we got Caleb Martin instead of them going after Caleb Martin LOL, they went after you, what a massive mistake LOL, they will see when you disappear in game after game even on a bad team like the Pistons LOL. Caleb Martin is ten time better than Tobias Harris at way less the money.. He actually shows' up in important games, instead of disappearing like you did for 5 years, except for to collect your overpaid salary money.. Good Riddance Tobias Harris and your agent father..
I think the sixers still need a point guard and a power forward to start to help Joel on the boards. I would think out of the box and start Adem Bona at power forward and ask him to just play D crash the glass and protect the rim, run the floor. Devonta Graham is a free agent, hmm.
I think Spencer Dinwiddie is the perfect fix at point guard. He’s 6’7 so he can guard 1-3. Now Maxey and Mcain can play SG while guarding opposing point guard.
This has been the best breakdown of their starting lineup I have seen. Good work. Seems like the bones of the team with the backup C are in place. Gordon off the bench is a nice piece, and we will see what McCain can be off the bench. Seems like his skill set fits nicely to get at least 10-20 minutes if he can fill the role they drafted him for. Council IV could be a good energy guard/wing as well. Still feels like they're missing a rebounding 4 off the bench, but not sure who fits that role that isn't lacking in a lot of other areas.
Getting Caleb Martin is even better because he is that dog that will get after you. Now they got to fill that 4 spot with a guy who can bang and get boards
@@raygu1818 yes but at the same time this lineup isn't bad PG played PF a lot on the Clippers and caleb could play it as wellbeing as tho he did on the heat and did well, what we need is the team to rebound together
I like this move. But we need more depth at The 4 and 1 if we are going to compete with the top 3 teams in the east. I wish we could have picked up a d. Maury or m.brogdon so Maxey can play the 2. That would maximize the potential of this Roster. Embiid needs to bring his scoring down to mid to lower 20’s and rebounding up. PG in the mid 20’s with Maxey continuing to move to upper 20’s. A big point guard who can set the table, switch on to bigger guys is the type of versatility this team needs.
to compete with the top three teams in the east? who are? the celtics? okay. the other two? LOL this roster is far superior to any other team outside of boston in the entire league. they will still add some pices and go toe to toe with boston.
@@HumanOptimization far superior on Paper maybe, nba 2k I can see your point but in real life we are Top heavy with no Real Power forward, no pure Point Guard…. The Knicks can go 10-12 deep in rotation without missing a beat. The Pacers matched them and beat them. We have like 7 or 8 players on the roster and you ready to Go world beater mode. There are still moves to be made. Or we’ll be bounced out early again.
@@DahlinSilesile-rc4lk don’t call it dumb because you can’t comprehend how basketball works. When we had less Embiid had to produce more Maxey as well. Now that we are add another player. The shot that Maxey and Embiid took regularly have to go to PG in order for him to play up to the contract he signed. Kind what happened with the Heat when lebron came there, Celtics before that with their big 3, warriors etc…. Starting click a little?
Great video and it could've been even longer. You should make a part two when we finish FA and the vet minimum pick-ups and go over everything because the concern with the fit 2-4 with like you said "PF by committee" is one of the most over blown topics I've seen in a long time. Then Drummond on the bench who played 79 games avg 9 rebounds off the bench, Jared Mccain who is also a great connective piece (not so much individually) Eric Gordon is a good shooter and okay defender nothing that you want to rely on. I think people should understand that on the heat especially with the fit next to and inplace of Jimmy Butler and like 5 other forwards Caleb Martin wasn't allowed to catch and shoot as much and his stats and efficiency took a sacrifice on the heat. Thats why his best moments came in the playoffs. He shoots 43% on uncontested 3's in the regular season. Shot 40+ % from 3 in the playoffs last two season and was arguably the best player in the ECF last year. Caleb Martin will only be listed at PF bc It looks ugly on Paul George and K.O, In reality they will all take turns matched up 2-4. It was the same way when PG was on the clippers with and without Batum/Roco starting. It's less positions more position groups, like Guard, Wings/Forwards, Center
We need some scrappers (P-bev, Marcus smart) add a sharp shooter (Luke kennard, Seth curry , Davis bertans) and bring in a tough guy who can hit a shot and intimidate ( morris twins or Jae crowder) ✌🏾💯✌🏾💯✌🏾💯✌🏾💯✌🏾💯✌🏾
@@chuckbrownrealestate I could’ve wrote Niang or Robinson from the heat. My point is I named several players so you nimwits can get an idea. Plus we got Eric Gordon so it don’t matter. These are bench players. Lastly, WHO THE F ARE YOU ? Whether you take a RU-vid comment / opinion serious or not is weak. You out here acting like you own the 76ers. Mannnnn gtfoh
Thank you my guy.I tried to tell people that before injuries our SIXERS were cooking! I had us winning the chip.Thats why I say its a lot closer than people think.Internally JOEL knows we do not fear Celtics at all OR the Knicks. We have a DOMINANT big and they are too small. Now with George and Caleb an E.Gordon teams are in trouble if we stay healthy! I have no doubt at all.
Yes yes now that’s a championship caliber team right there seriously !they might or mostly might not win next year but they can make a deep run in playoffs this upcoming season if healthy they’ll be big problem
DFS would have been a better option at PF than Martin but I get that involved a trade and a greater contract. I thought Martin would be the SG. No doubt the Sixers got four wings they can rotate. Plus PG show make all the wings play better.
If you look at the plays, Harris roughly 90% of last season blew every transition opportunity to score he got it got so bad after I noticed it I would crash out at the tv
I think this lineup matches up better with Boston. I don't think it matches up with New York. I think a Randle type player would give us problems. I'm not sure we would've remedied that issue at all. This lineup (team) is gonna have to make a blood oath commitment on the defensive glass.
I think we need to add a true point guard to compliment maxey, dorian finney smith trade would be great and i think we need to look to add a guy off the bench who can go get a bucket becuase im tired of seeing stat lines where we got 0 points off the bench lmaoooo
Sorry you all. Another 2nd round exit. PG is like Embiid injured all the time. Injuries will keep this team right where they always are 2nd round exit period....
@@michaelroelant7134 yo id love Marcus smart on this squad that would be a perfect piece how could we get him would it have to be a trade? He'd fits perfectly
@@michaelroelant7134 Marcus smart is an ideal fit but also like the Celtics won a championship instantly after trading him. Maybe he was the problem there.
They're almost there. Realistically though, Oubre should be your 7th option at best on a championship team. If Drummond and Gordon have a resurgence they're in good shape.
@@firstnamelastname-li1cc nah, there's no way. I don;t think you quite realize what you have in Caleb Martin. He's already the toughest player on the team. He's more intellectual and has a better feel for the game than Oubre. Just a better play on both ends. Also this fan base seriously overrates Oubre. He's good in chaotic situations but not a system player.
Paul George will be 35 soon and he's not getting any younger. Averages 22 points but that is on the downward decline. Embiid is a hard to handle even blind in one eye with bad knees, so he will be ready to win. Maxey is ready to win. But there's no backup to Embiid and we know he is going to get hurt.
Ah yes. kelly oubre, and caleb martin. The whole eastern conference is shaking in their boots that kelly oubre with a whopping -0.1 VORP and caleb martin with 0.0 VORP are going to terrorize the conference. Let’s also count on Embiid who is never healthy in the playoffs and PG who is almost always never healthy in the playoffs.
Embiid is going to be injured again going into the playoffs (and probably George also),rinse lather and repeat ignoring Einstein's definition of insanity.
Updated Starting Lineup Maxey Martin Oubre George Embiid - Oubre is the 6th Man if they get a Starting PF - 2ND TEAM is good so far w/Gordon & Drummond -Needs 1. Starting PF 2. Backup PG 3. Backup SF 4. Backup PF
Caleb Martin is the starting 4. He’s undersized but Sixers got him to play the 4. I agree Sixers need a backup 4. I’m hoping Marcus Morris comes back on a vet minimum to bring shooting and toughness.
@@allanaclo9692 In my opinion I think Oubre & George will guard the PF spot more than Martin but all 3 can switch 2-4 but Martin & Oubre can also guard Point Guards so this is just the way I see it but I could be wrong
No they didn't win. They overpaid Paul George. They could've got DeRozan & Caruso in a trade for Paul Reed , #16, #41 and still signed Martin , then sign Jalen Smith while Tyrus Jones & Gordon Heyward is still available .
their decision making seem too shaky. Buddy was rippin, until they plugged in Kyle Lawry Buddy stepped up big time in last game. 17? in 1st half. Like 20 points in 21 minutes....then they 'unplug' him. Again Can anyone win with that mindset, regardless of players ?
Need a PG. PG market is super thin. Who you all want ? I do think McCain will be our long term PG development guy. Buts that’s a year or 2 away. Kyle Lowry Cam Payne Patty Mills Pat Bev Spencer Dinwiddie Jordan Goodwin
Lowry and Fultz. You can have Fultz as a non-shooting playmaker and defender (can guard wings) whenever the rest of the lineup can shoot. Which is any time Drummond or Bona aren't on the floor.
