Deep in the heart of Jakarta's slums lies an impenetrable safe house for the world's most dangerous killers and gangsters. Until now, the rundown apartment block has been considered untouchable. Cloaked under the cover of pre-dawn darkness and silence, an elite swat team is tasked with raiding the safe house in order to take down the notorious drug lord that runs it. I initially didn't like how the tagline said that the team consisted of 20 elite cops but immediately majority of them were killed so easily, but in this scene it just shows they were just caught off-guard, and they really are all badass

@@SawBlood45 they are rookies in the elite corps, but in the police force they are the chosen ones. it can be seen from their uniforms where the elite corps wear black uniforms and in (raid 2 deleted scene) a war between gangs there is an ordinary policeman wearing a brown uniform.

This movie is just on another level, the combat!!!! It feels so authentic. Like how they are working together, using sound for the combat, everything that is around, or how Iko changed to side arm cause it is faster than reload his weapon. SO MANY DETAILS. :C How fast is Iko with his weapons, how he is sweating, everyone wants to survive there. I can't get enough of this shit! The sound architecture of this movie is also insanity and pure madness. Audio porn. Those weapons have different sounds, even the silencer sounds loud and all those cracks from bullets and etc.... just wow.

Yeah, basically kinda like John Wick before John Wick - sometimes people just want a relaxing unpretentious action with basic plot and this movie delivers superb action. Sicario, Hell or High Water, Wind River, John Wick and Raid are pretty much the best there is in regards to action, each in their own way - First three movies are long buildup and short brutal violence acting like a dessert instead of main dish, John Wick is pretty much a violent dance and Raid is outright an orgy.

My favourite action sequence of all time. All of them are competent. So I was genuinely sad when even lesser known squad members got killed. The fighting also gets more and more brutal as the film goes on transitioning from guns to basically anything people can find to kill each other. Best action movie ever made.

The soundtrack was composed by both Joseph Trapanese and Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park fame; so you can definitely hear the electronic dance influence throughout in the score. The sequel has that effect quite subsided since Mike didn't return for it, but it still has some similarities sprinkled throughout.
