Hey, the lid has a grid for aligning the paper and the stamp for your design. the grid is etched on for longevity which gives it that slight textured feel 😊

Hello! We recommend keeping the protective film that comes with the gridded stamp plate when you first purchase it. This will protect the surface from dust or craft debris when it's not in use. If you're working with paints or inks, we would also recommend using paper that's cut slightly larger than your working area to avoid bleeding onto the plate. With these two recommendations, your grid should continue to stay nicely tacky for quite some time even though there's no direct way to clean it. However, should your pad become unusable, you can purchase new sheets in a pack of 5 (Product #664927). Hope that helps!
@@sizzix thank you so much for replying to my question. I made a mistake with my question. I watched an earlier RU-vid with Pete, and what it was, he said you can die cut one you favourite dies with the die cut stencil sheets. I have already got the stencil and stamp tool, which I love, and have now purchased the die cut stencil sheets. Sorry if i confused you. I also have 2 Sizzix die cutting machines. Love them.
I wonder if you could put a piece of 12 X 12 paper in there and stamp on the corners. other stamp positioners have a indent which would prevent us from doing this
