Usually I dismiss smartwatches, but damn, this looks very good with the minimalist design and the disconnected band connection points. Very good review by the way.
Got the Falster 2 via a Brad's Deal deal for $69 last year. Great watch though it was a little slow and there was no speaker. The back of the watch came off and not it no longer works. I like the way this watch looked and worked and I'm willing to give the Falster 3 a try. Found a great deal on Watch Station ($125) for a new black Falster 3. Hope this one holds up better.
Interesting video. I've given up on smartwatches, except the very basic Xiaomi Mijia Watch, which measures steps, does notifications all on a regular watch battery which lasts for 4 months without changing and just looks BEAUTIFUL, or my latest Huawei Honor Band for more casual circumstances. I just can't see myself using the watch for any indepth activity other than the basics like time, steps, heart-rate, sleep analysis, maybe oxygen level, and basic notifications. I go to a larger, better suited device for the intense tasks. I also hate charging my wear OS twice a day when my two current devices last from 5 days to 4 months at a fraction of the cost. I don't find myself missing the fancier smart watches at all. Maybe it's because I'm just an old man, but I don't think so. I'm fairly adventurous when it comes to adopting new tech. Anyway, that's my take. It does look like a beautiful machine nonetheless.
I still have the original apple watch. I think I've had it now for 4 years. I do charge once a day but it charges fast. There are many functions I use on it everyday. I'm now looking into these crazy big watches that have cameras and stuff. Would be nice to get rid of the bulky phones that exist today.
Same. Instead of having an honor band & a mijia watch, I would recommend you the Huawei GT2 42mm. It looks great & capable of doing what the honor band & mijia watch do and the battery lasts for up to 7 days.
Nice: Great vid. I knew nothing about this watch till this video. I like the look of it. I would love to get your thoughts on how it compares to the Samsung Active II?
Yeah I like the design, but I've yet to see a smart watch that makes me want to replace my almost 4 year old Gear S3 Frontier. Maybe Samsung will update the Galaxy Watch with something interesting.
Beautiful chassis. But yeah, it is just a Gen 5 hardware with a different body. Nevertheless, excellent device for day to day use (except health tracking, Wear OS is just poor in that regard). I must admit I do miss Wear OS mostly for Google Assistant and Google Pay. But my active 2 has all around been much more efficient.
@@jordanluers1680 hmm the active 2 has Bluetooth 5.0 and so does my phone the connection is very stable for say to say close use between the devices, as for distance i cant really comment for a direct line of sight however im sure it can do much more than 8 meters. I live in a small but thick walled house. Surprisingly i can get a Bluetooth connection when my phone is upstairs and im beneath it downstairs but going into another room downstairs it will loose the conection
I was considering the Skagen Falster 3 vs the GWA2 sense I always have Samsung phones and I had the GS3 frontier still I decided to go with GWA2. Especially after reading about many complaints of wear OS. Glad with my purchase. Still the Falster 3 looks amazing imo just wear OS.. Also I need and love the health tracking gs3 and GWA2 have Great review though great 👍
Could you possibly do a complete walk through of the new Google Pixel Buds? I really enjoy how thoroughly you go through all the features of an item. Thanks in advance.
One of the lessons of survival in the modern world is learning to recognize trends and evolve. He's doing it nicely while keeping elements of his signature style.
Yet another watch I love the looks of, and hate the battery life on. When I can travel with one of these Wear OS watches for a week (plus) without having to worry about recharging, then I'll consider owning one. I'm starting to believe the Chinese have it right by scaling back on functionality and providing two plus weeks (or more) of battery life.
Great video! Just got this watch yesterday and I'm loving it! The only problem I'm experiencing is that Goole maps doesn't work :(. It shows the map, but when I want to navigate I get a can't navigate error.
I've had multiple Google Wear watches, each and every time I've came back to my Samsung Galaxy Watch, Tizen and where the OS is is gonna take a LOT to beat!
Excellent review though you didn't mention whether it has wireless charging or not. It doesn't. That's a very nice looking watch and the ability to take and make calls is a winner. The only problem is that that Wear OS is awful. You never know when you should swipe or rotate and the user experience is counterintuitive. The 3 battery saving options are pretty good but that extended setting doesn't allow flipping the wrist to see the time is very inconvenient. I prefer the tailored battery savings options available on my Active Watch 2. I wish Samsung would allow other makers to use Tizen. There is a reason that Tizen is the No. 2 watch OS used globally after Apples Watch OS. Wear is an afterthought for Google. It's a lazy design with very little thought put into the user experience. Fossil, has to its credit tried to improve it where it could.
How is the wristband? I had the Carlyle a few month ago and it also featured a leather-silicone design...which seems perfect, but in reality it was a bit stiff and unflexible. The milanese/metal one is the same price so I'm hesitating on which version I should go...
Would you recommend buying this while you have an iphone? i really do not like the design of the apple watch but do want the functions of a smartwatch.
Why do so few smartwatches have a transreflective display? I find it much better (clear look also in bright sun and less battery usage). I use my Amazfit Stratos for over a year, sadly it can't do as much like WearOS smartwatches but it has a transreflective display and around 5days battery life.
@TheUnlockr can you please help me out. M still confused to buy this one or not over foaail gen5 Due to the reason: 1. Its looks like the quality of the material connecting the strap is cheap, Will it broke after few months usage? 2. Does it lags? 3. What about the calling quality?
Pretty disappointing the display is only 1.3" when the Moto 360 had a 1.56" display. I would think they'd find a better way of eliminating the flat tire issue than making a a full tire around entire face.
@@MrRobi10 nope it isn't. Got mine 2 days ago, and I am not really impressed. I will send it back because the battery is way too bad and the performance is meh..
I have been SPOILED by SKAGEN 3 . I can NOT find a better looking watch AND somehow FOSSIL and SOMEHOW Fossil gen 6 seems to have a REALLY BIG vessel.. WHY FOSSIL??? WHY???
Hate that all Fossil brand watches have big ass screen bezel. I have a Wear24 and it has no screen bezel compared to this. Basically all fossil brand and sub brands have watch faces that doesn't touch the edge of the screen because there's a big round black bezel separating it. My fossil sport is the same big-ass black screen bezel that you can't miss you if you have a light colour screen.
I have the carlyle gen 5 and this design is nowhere near fossil's slick watch. This watch is really bulky but I guess for the price is fine... Similar to the ticwatch E2
Why did sapphire screens go away altogether, and why do all the new models have an empty black ring in between the screen and the bezel? The original Huawei Watch looked better and I haven't found anything to match it yet, years later. A speaker and waterproofing are also not new features. I really wish someone made an original Huawei Watch, just with new internals. Even the Milanese band on it still looks new, plus the screen is flawless, even though it endured some drops and hits; it just needs better performing hardware.
Considering is has the newest chip and 1GB of ram, it shouldn't be limited hardware wise. However, Wear OS is a little laggy at times but that is unavoidable until Google fixes it. For the most part I would say it's pretty snappy.
@@LegatoStudios After owning five wear os watches I have almost given up on ever finding one that actually responds in a timely manner to the simplest of commands. 🤔
.....The fact that they're still using a shitty chipset still makes me lose all hope for Wear OS. Battery Life is still atrocious and its so damn Power hungry its insane. I love the way this watch looks but i hate how ass the OS is.
All latest Wear OS watches have an always on display option. You can install 3rd party watchface apps like Facer which have an always on option for each watchface. The only thing to keep in mind is whether the display is OLED or not. OLED will save battery life.
@@119Agent It's true that Fossil bought Skagen, so technically it's American now. But it's founded as Skagen Ure (Watches in Danish) back in 1989 by the Danish couple, Henrik and Charlotte Jorst. Fun fact: Skagen is the the most northern city of Denmark, and Falster is an area in the eastern part of the country.
@@119Agent Stfu..It was founded by two Danes that moved to the United States..That doesn't make them less Danish. They still use Danish location names in their productline, so they are clearly still proud of the Danish heritage
But can it run Spotify without sophisticated workarounds? Answer: no. Ow thank you Wear OS, or should I call you Weary OS? Why would anyone bother to buy something that does nothing else that a smartphone already could? I mean, it's fun to track your activities and see your heart rate (you could do that with an index finger and a normal watch as well), but without a standalone music player, who cares? Smartwatches are a waste of energy and time, not to forget to mention the money. Just spend your money on something that is able to generate energy in stead of wasting it people.
I have no use for LTE on a smartwatch considering you always have your phone within arms reach and it's connected to that. You're just paying extra for unnecessary connectivity on the watch if you have LTE
