Footage from the November 16 2021 floods of the Skagit River. One of the most devastating floods in recent years to hit the area after a strong atmospheric river and sudden snowmelt combined to make a perfect storm for high waters. Many homes, buildings and cars were submerged, roads were totally covered and fields became large lagoons. The videos are from some of the towns along highway 20 including Sedro-Woolley, Lyman and Hamilton. From where the road was covered I could see into Hamilton where people in canoes were going around the neighborhood. Mount Vernon was also at a very high risk, if the water went much higher it could have been very destructive to the community. The temporary walls put into place seemed to have helped hold the water and debris out.
Morning/afternoon of November 16 2021. Levels were around 37 feet.
