Most stock liners are pretty descent these days. No need to change them if you are not looking for any specific type of fit. Changing your liner however can greatly change the way a skate feels, fits and performs.
There are a few different types of aftermarket liners, ranging from thin ones to thick ones.
Skaters downsize by taking a shell that is usually to small for them but make it skateable with a very thin, or a worn down old liner.
