Skating With Brian Anderson: Epicly Later'd

Since 1996 Brian has constantly evolved as a pro skater. When his first video part came out in Toy Machine's Welcome to Hell, he came out of nowhere and held his own along side some of the heaviest names in skateboarding at the time. By the time his part in Jump off a Building came out, he was pro. To continue his ascension to legend status, the following year he was awarded Thrasher's S.O.T.Y. He moved on to Girl Skateboards, and his skating got even better. Patrick says it best in the intro when he talks about Brian being a regular dude who happened to get the opportunity to become pro, and didn't kook it.

Hey kids, at 3:23 pay attention to the way Donny Barley ordered that western omelette at sal's diner. He's a very considerate young man and an excellent example to all of us... Spread the word...

fuck yeah I first saw this years ago and even though BA is one of my all time favourite skaters, the thing that stuck with me most is Donny Barley ordering breakfast. I don't know how everyone isn't this polite. BARRRRRLEY.

Yeah, finding out that he's actually gay, I had to rewatch this and it's so crazy. Now when they talk about him making excuses for not hanging out, you know why. You know why he was so close with Elissa. You wonder who all knew at the time of this when it was made. His sexual preference has no effect on his skateboarding. In fact, like a lot of them have said. Finding out he's gay makes him more rad. I'm just glad to see that BA can live his life without that weight on his shoulders of having to hide it from everyone and I love the support and feedback he has received throughout the community. Shows just another reason why skateboarding is such an amazing thing.

I remember that tour. I skated with you guys at More Skates in Lancaster PA. You guys were totally cool with me joining in the demo. I remember all the locals yelling get off the floor! Ed and Mike were atop a quarterpipe, they were both trying like "nose wheely" (Maldanados Words) tech trick on this flattop long pyramid, and I said to Ed do you care if I skate with you guys, he looked dead at me and said go for it. I was trying a benihana over this hip, at the time the trick wasn't well known, I remember Steamer asking what it was and me not knowing what it was called. It was a blast skating alongside these legends at the time. Thanks for having me, and thanks for making it memorable. Landing that trick and hearing the Toy Machine team going wild cheering was a great moment in an otherwise boring life. Thanks Ed!
