A nice special rule for Skaven...erm...volunteers....other than a Levy style mechanic, is also a "We'll hit theirs as well" mechanic, where Skaven can just fire into the them, even in combat.
tbh most core units and infanty in old world could come down like 20% (so 45-50% for core infantry) in points. Obviously tailored +/-10% for most, a few infantry are fine as is tho.
Skaven vs dwarfs is a classic match up. Love this format and I think I'll suggest it to a couple of my gaming buddies. We already play much more casually with armies that look a lot more like proper Warhammer armies.
A couple of minor points. The cannon shot is only blocked by Impassable and High Linear Obstacles, so you could have fired through the trees. I don't believe Earthen Ramparts can be cast into combat, which substantially reduces its utility. I thought you only take panic tests for failed break tests - i.e. give ground does not lead to a panic test. Failed panic does not cause any panic tests, so you can't chain panic from the Warp Engineer to the Gutter Runners for example.
Definitely underpowered for their cost, I'd like them to stay the roughly the same cost but get a buff. And I'd like the clan rats to be cheaper or... Bring back slaves. I want to field 200 rat men in a normal size game and I want to outnumber the empire significantly, while being balanced.
Rule to note - the unit you are within 3 of needs to be the nearest not just any unit for the sake of shooting and spells (ruby ring). This was clarified in the FAQ
I didn't know that, good catch. Obviously the Man-things needed to resort to such treachery for a chance of standing against the might of Clan Ratchit!
Just FYI, you can only cast Hex/Enchantment on units in combat if it explicitly says so on the spell e.g. you can't cast Earthen Ramparts on units that are in combat.
I think you either need better steel or more gunpowder in your list maybe! Would be cool to see a 3k points game and add some other cool bits like handgunner/cav/greatswords as well as the huge units! great watch and great looking armies! The empire looks how it should be !!:)
The ants go marching one by one hura hura, The ants go marching one by one hura hura, The ants go marching one by one hura hura, The ants go marching one by one hura hura.
Skaven are a legacy factions (for now) I dream of a future where fet get a Limited release of the cool older models. But so far the new AoS stuff seems to rank up acceptably so that's something.
@@That_Rat_Bastrdlikewise they might just use extra clan rats and ratling guns etc and just port them over given that TOW has been much more successful than they first thought.
Rules query: at about 35 mins you used general’s leadership who was in a different unit then added warband from militia to give ld10. I don’t think you can do that…you either use the general’s leadership or you use the rules that apply to the unit doing the testing. Or am I wrong?
If it misfired with the reroll for three games in a row, that's 1/46,656. If It actually exploded itself each game as well, that's 1/10,077,696 Either way I think you need to stay away from ladders and broken mirrors.
i dont play this game but im curious to try it, i have a quick question about terrain, is there always a hill in the deployment zone? it seems to give a big advantage to shooty armies, and i think i have seen one in every one of your empire battle reports. cheers
There has been a set of game maps made by the popular Square Based show guys. It's great for balanced games and often contains one deployment hill each. But it's not a necessity to use those maps, especially in non-competitive settings!
@@That_Rat_Bastrd hey pal. Good shout. But The variant maps for each mission often don’t contain hills even though map 1 normally does. At the event I ran and used the pack, I made sure half the scenarios didn’t have hills in the deployment zone for this very reason
@@Become_The_Hero I must confess I'm only familiar with the map layouts in passing from having played on a few of them. Ive never bothered to look them up myself, tournament organisers or in this case Mordian normally set the table up around me 😅 or just I just "yea that looks fine" when playing with mates/stranger no matter what they've put out. It's a testament to the scene that iv never knowingly had anyone try to get an advantage from terrain yet!
Really love your content! But i would love if your old world content would continue with the more competitive focus. Like you have been doing. But give me more!❤
Someone get Mordian's Empire General a Demigryph mount please! So much better value than the Duellists Blades! Also every time Mordian fired the mortar he never seemed to gt the benefit of hitting some poor rat man under the hole in the template?
