Love the E. murinus! I raised a beautiful female many years back before joining the service where I unfortunately had to sell her. Definitely considering getting back into the hobby!
That first one was so amazing. Green shiny butt and yellow banding and neon blue fangs. I think God got his colors mixed on this one. They all are great but that one was a beauty. Hi Billie! We hear you and see the product of your camera work. Have a great week. Next Monday we are going north to Flagstaff to get out of the heat for a bit. See the painted desert and buy things. And explore the lakes and canyons up north. Have a wonderful weekend.
Hello, Joyce! I was so enamored with that yellow! He sure did. haha Hello from Billie! I hope that you had fun at Flagstaff and that you got some milder temperatures! :)
@@TomsBigSpiders I did not want to come back. But NAU weekend was there when we were. Traffic was crazy. But we did get the nicest vacay we have had in years. The parks the national monuments. We went to three. School starts early in AZ. They try to get them out in May before the really hot weather starts. Wish I had the $$ to rent a house for the summer. Its only a 5 hour drive. If you and your tribe ever want to go, let me know. I will give you tips. Have a great week! JJ
Thanks for all the info. Started in the hobby last month and have been taking it "slow" I'm only up to 4 new worlds so far. Hamorii, pulchra, juruensis, and a GBB are what I have the latter 3 are slings and I'm loving the journey. The GBB seems to be a good "stepping" stone species my sling is agile and active. It struck at the mist I applied last night! It's helped me gain more respect for the animals and is hopefully preparing me for more challenging species down the road, along with all the great info online.
Welcome to the hobby, Jacob, and you're most welcome. You started with some awesome species there. And I think that the GBB is an excellent stepping stone to keeping faster, more skittish spiders (like old worlds). Best of luck to you!
It is 100% about time you did Ephebopus! Hands down my favorite genus. We have all but the Cyanognathus... which we're working on. Plan to breed all 4 species in the future. Hopefully we can get the Foliatus into the hobby in the near future
Thank you so much! I rarely put the enclosures together on camera, so I figured that I'd do it this time. I just like to get right to the spiders! haha
Aaaah. The Barbarous Growth water dish! I have a couple of those! They also came with another enclosure - looked familiar so I checked the bottom and it was BG (bombproof!) I have looked at those Authentic Joy enclosures a few times. May have to pick up a couple. Great stuff as always Tom!
Hey, Joshua! I found another one to complete the set! haha And always bombproof. haha I'm really liking them for medium fossorial species and my OBTs. Let me know if you pick one up!
I was so looking forward to this video .. i listen to podcasts all the time.. i couldn’t stay awake long enough after work to watch it tho …. You need to put a post on community tab on RU-vid for podcast commentary.. I sometimes want to make comments but can only the podcast platform I listen on unfortunately 😢
@@TomsBigSpiders glad I could help .:.don’t know if it’s just me but I have apple phone and Spotify don’t have the comment option on the app … my wife has android and she can comment.
AWESOME video Tom the Ephobopus species are STUNNING the colours are eye catching I had an Ephobopus Rufescens {Red Skeleton }couple years ago need to get some more might even get some at the end of the month lol
This genus has been one of my top favorites since before I got into the hobby. I used to have 2 of all 4 species but some slings randomly didnt make it so I only have 1 E. Murinus, 1 E. Uatuman and 1 E. Cyanognathus 😕 just more that I’ve added to my ‘buy’ list lol
Have all of these except the E. murinus, been trying to get my hands on one for a while now. They don't seem to be easy to find in my area. As always, beautiful spiders ❤
I Love love love you videos, I am sad during the school year when you are not able to do as many videos. However yours are worth watching multiple times as you are very informative and I believe that some of the slings I have purchased have made it to large slings/small juvies due to your quality information. I will say that it was my bad as one of the enclosures you had talked about and the fact that there was a port in it for if you are using it for reptiles. You did say to cover it to keep from loosing your smaller tarantulas. Well I put my Brachypelma Baumgartinei (i cant spell) in one of those enclosures and I forgot to cover that port. I lost her and now I cannot find any on line for sale. I saw one of my dogs playing around with a bug and found my Baumgartinei curled up and all slobbered on, so sad as she was just starting to get good size and her colors were starting to come out. Well today I received 3 of the 8 x 8 x 8 and they had put a grommet in there to cover that port. Nice. Looking forward to more content. I finally took the plunge into Old world. A Darlingi and a Cobalt Blue. Thank you so very much for all you do for the hobby!!
Hello, Keisha...and thank you so much! Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about your B. baumgarteni (I don't even know if that's the correct spelling. haha). That's absolutely terrible. I do hope that you manage to find another. And someone was telling me that the ones sold overseas have that plug for the port. Are you in the states? Thanks!
The Murinus is absolutely stunning and definitely on the list at my next expo. Are your kids at school ever inspired to get into the hobby because of your channel? Those enclosures are awesome but unfortunately not availiable here so I’m still favouring the 30cm reptile growth enclosures with the free accessories. Great video as always sir.
Isn't she a looker? I'm so glad that I have a female now. And it's funny that you ask. Last year, I had three kids pick up tarantulas, which I thought was awesome. Before that, no one seemed interested! haha And I LOVE Reptile Growth enclosures and plan to pick up more. I think that I have close to 20 now. I hope all is well!
Awesome bunch of T's that first one was stunning i've never heard of that one before and the murinus is by far one of the coolest looking T's shame they are fossurial i find most of the best looking T's are mining spiders
No !! Take the water dish out of the roaches & put a different one in there That would make me crazy & we don’t want that 😂 Awesome Vid !!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 So this is separate for your viewers !! Wal-Mart has been carrying for a few months now in the fish, birdseed area a black water or food dish that looks very much like the ones you’re using (not as good quality, but great) for $1.25 What a deal !! I’ve been buying & just keeping them.
Hey, Candy! hahaha I actually found another brand new one a couple days ago, so I replaced it. haha It was driving me nuts. :) And really? Thanks for the tip! I'm going to have to check that out!
@@TomsBigSpiders I have 4 of them and 3 of them are sassy little brats trying to rehouse them into their enclosures was adventure alone . The one sling I have is shy and just loves to burrow
Beautiful T's! Yellow is my favorite color so I'm a bit biased to the blue fang's banding. Once again, great vid and all of them are on my wish list!! I do have an OBT that I'm raising and s/he has chicken DNA, lol. Btw, how much weight have you lost?
Hi, Lynette! Yeah, that yellow as POPPING. What an awesome surprise! haha My OBTs have all been pretty laid back. Ha! I've lost 35 pound since last August. I let myself get porky again, so it was time to get back into shape. haha Thank you so much!
I wonder if those feathered front 2 segments of the front legs is to help them with digging? I received a Pamphobeteus cf insignis ecuador sling yesterday that seems to have those feathered front feet that almost look like arboreal feet and until this video I was kind of wondering if it was an arboreal not a burrowing terrestrial lol 😆
Usually, the digging spiders will have thicker back legs for digging, but who knows! Usually those feathered feet are found on arboreal spiders, and these guys are closely related to several aboreal genera.
Make a furrow with a pencil or back of a paint brush in a couple of the corners, and carefully pour water down (very slowly) until it moistens the bottom layer. If she has a burrow, do this in a corner that she hasn't dug out yet. Hope that helps!
Hey Tom! What the best to go about donating a mature male to a breeder? Is there a good forum? Maybe reddit? Its a T. Vagans. Really would like to see him fulfill his purpose. Any advice is appreciated. Love the videos!
Hello! Reddit may be a good place to start. Facebook groups can be good places to hook up with people (as long as your not selling it). Arachnoboards is also another great place to go. I hope that helps! Thank you!
My Emerald skeleton molted recently and I think it’s a male, from what I can tell it’s got rather lanky legs and I think I saw emboli, not sure, so I think it’s either a subadult or a mature male, it has yet to come out of its burrow
Three of them used the leaf little to build webbed turrets extending out of their burrows. I supplied the leaf litter specifically for this purpose. It worked out fine. Thanks!
@@OakenTome L take. it is most certainly greedy, since they should be preserved through breeding programs. mexico had a great program like that before it was recently struck down. please don't hit me with L takes i have a lot of stuff on the go.
