Jesse, it’s been a blessing to find your channel! I dove into UX within the past few years and seeing all these easy to follow tutorials and commentary are some of the best I’ve seen! Thanks again for helping out us newbies (even though I’m an aged rookie haha)
Jesse you just keep getting better at your delivery, every time i watch your videos i just wish to know you personally. For me sketch has been my design tool of choice and thus far with Figma, XD and framer X am still a big user of sketchapp and sketch52 just gave me more wings to fly. Thanks Jesse
Love your videos, you're genuinely wanting to teach us, AND you make it fun! Wishing more UX design RU-vidrs would be as dynamic and engaging... you ROCK, Jesse, thank you for all the effort you put into your vids!
Awesome video! Beyond excited that Sketch is still stepping up its game. Especially with layer styles updates, that'll save me hours personally setting up design systems
I like the changes. I like that we can finally see the difference between a group and a layer. The layer style is great and useful and I'm sure Inserting Data > Roles > CFO is quicker than simply typing it! :D Good video, thanks. Easier to follow than reading it on the website.
Your video quality is getting so much better and better. Just DOPE! I wonder if Sketch 52 improved the performance efficiency? 51 was still pretty bad...I almost thought of switching to Figma.
Excellent video, thanks for the highlights, most of these features have been on my wish list for the last year so I'm excited to dive in and see the improvements for myself :)
I think everyone uses what fits best for each workflow. I used to love Sketch until I moved to Figma and that's maybe because I use an older version of Mac (Late 2012) but Sketch feels kinda slow for me. I haven't tried the 52 yet but that's my $0.2. We have many good options to choose right now, Invision Studio, Framer X, Figma, Adobe XD and Sketch.
Really like the new look and data feature. But what happened to the text transformation button? The gear icon doesn't give me the option to do uppercase, lowercase, etc.
I see it but when I click on the gear icon, it turns into a blue fill but nothing happens. I don't get a dropdown list of options i.e.-uppercase, lowercase, etc.
The weirdest thing happened today. Sketch crashed on me. When I re-opened, my plugins were disabled so I started re-enabling them. And when I tried using the text transformation icon, it finally worked! A drop down list menu appeared below. Did anyone else experienced this?
Hey there Jesse nice video once again. Given the new Sketch version, how would you now compare it to comptetiors like XD and Figma? I've been reluctant whether I should stick with Sketch or migrate onto XD/Figma because the ability to work crossplatform for me is a huge deal.
If cross platform is a big deal for you I’d say switch to Figma. This release has revitalized my love for Sketch. I like XD but it’s just not ready yet in my opinion.
I have jumped into sketch head first this week and it is a great tool thus far. However, I cannot figure out how to scale the actual font sizes responsively. None of the resizing tools work to increase the font size as you go from mobile to desktop. I can get the bounding boxes to pin and scale but not the actual font size, line spacing, etc. Thoughts?
Am I the only one wondering why they removed the "send back" button in 52? Does anybody have a workaround or way to get the send back/forward button into the top toolbar? Cheers
Hair is looking 🔥🔥🔥 With this new update, do you think Sketch has reclaimed its place as the go-to screen design tool? How do you think Framer X stacks up to Sketch, Figma, and XD? I picked it up on sale a few days after the release but having a hard time getting over how different it is from other tools.
This is a good question but one people will get very opinionated about. In the end, I think all boats are rising on this new "design tool tide" and I stoked about that. I personally think Sketch is still top of its game but I also love Figma. I have only just started playing with Framer X but it's not taking over my workflow yet
Does anyone know if there's a way to change mouse scroll direction to the correct direction in the app? I'm sick of having the mouse properties open and switching it every time i use sketch. kinda gheto
Crashing: Has anyone been experiencing Sketch v52.1 crashing during use? Since I updated to this version it keeps crashing with basic use. One trigger is the Show/Hide Interface (Command-Period) and Show/Hide Toolbar (Option-Command-T) keyboard shortcuts. This happens whether you're starting a new document (completely blank) or a work-in-progress file. (My system stats: End 2013 MacBook Pro; OS X 10.13.6.) Thanks!
Jesse Showalter Thanks for the reply Jesse. I did and actually got reply today; they identified the issue and they’re working to include a fix in an upcoming update.
I've never seen a single real life use case for randomly generated data like pictures or city names in any client project so far since the day craft made it possible. Why? Because every client project is unique and especially when it comes to images, the language they transport is specific and important in every way they're used. One just can't load up a random people picture from Unsplash when the product they're designing is for a special country or age group and that applies to EVERY product that's designed. Therefore i don't get the point for all of this…
Sketch 52.2 is really unstable for me as well and I have made to many changes to go back and open in an older version as I would have to redo all the newer changes. 52.2 is crushing my productivity. The addition of Voice UI/UX, micro-interactions and auto-animate to XD has me completely rebuilding a project because it will no longer even open in Sketch 52.2 (not even in safe mode... it renders Sketch unresponsive) but it opened in XD! Voice commands/ui are actually part of the experience of this project though so the new XD will render some excellent upgrades to my prototype. So far so good.
Those top 5 features are not really features, they were there before give or take. At least the creator could add some content to his channel. lul youtubers nowadays.
I'm getting really tired of all these Figma fanboys I see in literally every Sketch video or even Facebook post related to Sketch, even in the Sketch group. Is Figma paying trolls do keep spamming anything Sketch related. Please *** off
