We have gone through the initial phase of sea trials and now it's time to haul out, make the changes and do the remedial work that was decided on during the last two weeks. Follow along to see the haul out process, some work on the keels, interior finishing and a special addition that we requested to the exterior.

Sadly I am late to the game with this channel. Having said that I am having fun starting at the very beginning of the channel and watching this whole process. This has been an incredible find, I have always wondered about the custom build process. Many channels mention to the steps but this is the most detailed one I have ever seen- kudos to you both. I think the boat is incredible. I love the cabinet for all the dive gear as well as the davit for the dinghy and jet ski.

Wow the schedule for the marina must be fairly full. They really are doing a lot in fairly short order. I love that you are putting the lights on and to see that they sealed the holes to prevent delam is awesome. Small detail but super important. Getting all that interior work done on the hard is great because doing all that at anchor would be more inconvenient. What you are showing really shows how good HH is at building boats. I really like how you are filming and showing what is going on.

Nice to see Crazy Love on the Wynn's sailing channel today as they did a walk-through on HH44 hull #2, one before their boat which is hull #3. The wood grain on the cabinets on the HH88 appears to be much nicer than the HH44 #2. Thanks for showing us how HH does things in terms of finishing the boat as it appears to be very organized.

Thank you for the comment. The yard is capable of doing almost anything. The 44's are a semi production boat where as the 88 is a full custom boat.

A diamond undergoing it's final polish! Crazy Love is absolutely stunning! You should be incredibly proud of the stunning yacht that you took from a vision in your mind and dragged through into physical existence. Yes the team at M & M / H/H have done incredible work but this has all been at your instigation. I sincerely hope we get to follow some of your adventures once she is re-splashed and you take possession. It blows my mind that you have found time to document this whole process! I'm sure it must be a little disheartening to see the slow uptick in views and subscribers... I cant wait to see your channel explode which i have a feeling is coming up pretty quick with a little nudge from the Wynns! Have you thought about inviting @SailingLaVagabonde Elayna, Riley, Lennie and Darwin aboard? It would fit in nicely with the boat tour series they just completed.... I'm sure they wouldn't turn the chance down!

1st ly congrats on the boat, I have followed since first video and have a million questions but wont bog you down. Just wondering what was the indicators that the keels would need modifications, and was this also noticed while under power from engines. Excellent coverage of the entire build process...well done.

That is a good question. It was primarily under sail, and I believe it was because they were not achieving the pointing that they though they would. Sea trial round 2 start in a few days and i will make sure to make a video about it.

Absolutely epic progress. Keep it up! We are following closely. My wife and I have talked about commissioning our own cat - you've cleared up a bunch of unknowns. As soon as our kids are grown a little more, we want to follow suit. Did you build a custom hull design or was it custom from the waterline up?
@sketchtosea3750
@sketchtosea3750 Год назад
Good questions. The entire yacht is custom from the waterline up. The naval architects at M & M did all of that work. Please send me an email at: Sketchtosea@gmail.com. I am happy to talk about this further.

I am thinking of building a similar sized boat in the near future, maybe even with HH, and very much appreciate this series. Did you ever consider putting the master suite on the fly bridge instead and use it take up the entire (or most) of the fly bridge and moving the wheel and controls back to the main salon forward. This could give 365 degree views, even give you a balcony aft if you want, and a little better privacy in that suite being a bit further removed. Your thoughts on this arrangement? Thanks in advance for the reply. Keep up the good work!

I'm not familiar with the properties of that type of copper coat, but I would think it would be a little worrisome that just after a short 2 weeks there was need to reexpose the copper for the hull protection to return.
@sketchtosea3750
@sketchtosea3750 Год назад
It did not need to be "re-exposed" it was put on a little too thick in the beginning.

Loving the content!!! My thoughts are about haul out! While traveling around the world, what is the plan for this? Quite a large setup to pull her out. What’s your thoughts on this? Would be marina specific and costly I’d assume..??🤔

Lots of marina aka big boats sheds around the world, hope they don't need their servises
@sketchtosea3750
@sketchtosea3750 Год назад
We have a few thoughts on this, there are a lot of marinas with underwing hydraulic lifts that I would prefer to a travel lift with straps. Hopefully don't have to come out of the water for a few years.

does carbon fiber hull construction have any special antifouling application or reapplication considerations vs. traditional gelcoated boats?
@sketchtosea3750
@sketchtosea3750 Год назад
Not specifically because it is carbon. We chose to go with copper coat because of its longevity.
@codegame027

@@sketchtosea3750 my question more-so is hull maintenance any different from a non-carbon fiber hull boat?

How many locations around the world can you pull out for service? I think it will be limited?
@sketchtosea3750
@sketchtosea3750 Год назад
Thats a good question. It will be limited, but it really depends on the style of lift that the yard has. Underwing style being preferred.

Another excellent episode, Sean. As much as I've enjoyed watching your boat move from scratch paper to construction, I've found the lessons on contracting, specs, and so forth to be invaluable. One question, and I'm sorry if you've already covered this. So many sailing channels, so little time. Does your fly bridge have drop-down sides for protection in inclement weather? Is there something to close the gap above the windshield? I still have nightmares from being on an open bridge in wintertime with zero protection from Arctic winds.
@sketchtosea3750
@sketchtosea3750 Год назад
We have 2 parts to our flybridge. The helm stations are completely enclosed and can be air conditioned and heated. The exterior or the aft section is exposed, but you should not need to go out unless there is a problem.

I noted a comment in the owner's tour of the boat where he said :"weight was never a consideration in the design". WOW Weight is the most important thing when designing a performance cat, which this is clearly not. So this is a luxury yacht with a way to complicated mechanical system, not unlike motor super yachts. But it is barely a sailing machine and I would suggest not very sea worthy with the center of gravity too high and the sluggish sail performance.
@robertmunafo5039

I believe they were making near wind speed even in light 15s. My impression performance wise this boat is very capable given all the added luxuries.
