Look at those modern pens that are doing all the work! It's not real traditional art unless you're scraping the images into your surface with a sharpened piece of antler. /s
Always a pleasure to watch the Master draw! I try to not draw anime-style because I think it’s way overused at this point. Yes, it’s massively popular but most artists that copy this style tend to have works that look too similar. Very few artists have distinctive styles like Akira Toriyama, for example. Still! These videos always make me want to draw in the anime style just because I love it still! I’m a huge fan of the 90’s anime style that was more “serious” such as in Ninja Scroll, or any Satoshi Kon movie!
Well, it's not really "anime-style", as it's more an art style that fits into the Japanese aesthetic canon. Anime can be in any style, and I can typically tell studios apart by the specific way they work, including the personal decisions made by the animation teams -- example being that works by Trigger are very distinctively theirs when compared to Shaft or Ufotable. Anime is not really a style (any style can be animated if you're ready to sweat), and I've never really seen a "generic anime style", but with generally every anime being made by or with largely Japanese-educated artists who have grown up within the sphere of Japanese art, what you are picking up on is... general Japanese aesthetics.
