It was lovely to get a chronological look at your books Danny. I have 'Shut Your Monkey' and 'The Creative License' but I believe I need to read 'A kiss Before You Go' as I'm struggling through trauma, grief and depression after the sudden unexpected death of my husband in October 2014. I'm Australian and he was a New Yorker, a graphic designer, webmaster by trade but an amazing all rounder creative in writing, fine arts and music. Our daughter was 9 when he passed at home in his sleep. I have been stuck creatively and socially since, I'm slowly getting back to art but still remaining isolated. I just wanted to say that I appreciate your no facade, straight up realness about life and the human condition... we need more folk in the world that find no need to fabricate the illusion of the 'Perfect Life'. I believe we have all suffered trauma and experience struggles along the journey and if we all openly and transparently shared this, the planet would have a huge gorgeous energy shift 😊 I'm enjoying book club very much, thanks 👍

Thanks Danny for introducing us to all your books! It’s truly a privilege to be able to learn from you and your life. You have completely changed my life by bringing art into it. It has been therapeutic and confidence building and fulfilling and so many more things that I cannot describe in words. You’re doing great work and I really look up to you and respect you for every bit of it!

Briiliant! What an absorbing watch and very interesting. I love your books and shall be buying the ham radio one for my partner as he is nerdy for things like that lol. This was an immensely personal video and I think gives us a real insight into you. Funny that as an English girl in NY and an au pair, I was probably dipping in and out of various bars and clubs around Manhattan at the same time as you, and around the same age. I have just discovered your Sketchbook Skool and am eating it up as I try and find my way back to my long buried self. Thanks and keep 'em comin'!

I always love Sketchbook Club, but I loved this week's the most!! I have all of our art-related books, and they are on loan half the time because I keep recommending and lending them out to friends. Absolutely enjoyed hearing about how my favourite books came to be. Thanks for regaling us with the stories, Danny! Looking forward to many more weeks of Sketchbook Club!!

Wow! I didn't realize you wrote so many books. I have a little more shopping to do! I have a sketch I did from a day visiting my son when he lived in NY where we had lunch at a great bar. It was kind of a magical day for me with my son. He was volunteering his time producing an album for an unknown singer/songwriter and her band. He was stoked. I think my Ex (and I) would love Hello World--we got into CB radios back the late 70s. My handle was Ribbon-Breaker. I broke so many ribbons opening presents at my wedding shower, I was supposed to have oodles of children. The school book re the fim strips--Yikes! If we only knew... I have A Kiss Before You Go. Oh, Danny! What a beautiful, beautiful book. Keep on, keeping on. I hope there's more to come. Your work is incredible, unique, beautiful, and purely organic. I think that's why I love it. Thank you once again. --KateColors

I love your books and they got me back into art and Sketchbook Skool, and they continue to be an artistic inspiration to me. A KISS BEFORE YOU GO is inspirational for anyone dealing with dearth/loss. Thank you for your ability to share yourself with your readers. You paint a picture that seems achievable both with your words and with your art.

this is a happy coincidence , I bought your book 'The Creative Licence' a few years ago and started doing the exercises but never finished it because I embarked on my own journey of keeping a journal using mixed media. I discovered your TouTube channel by chance, I've always been interested in looking at other peoples art journals. It wasn't until I watched this video that I put 2 + 2 together and realised "it's the same guy". I'm enjoying your channel, keep it up. Thanks.

Danny, thank you for sharing your story and evolution of writing books and finding your storytelling style. I absolutely love your two books, "An Illustrated Life" and "An Illustrated Journey". In fact, it was because of those books that I found your blog and subsequently Sketchbook Skool. I was absolutely amazed by your stories about how you turned your flea market finds, along with your natural curiosity, into well crafted books that document parts of life that may have been lost. What an interesting thing to do! As an avid researcher and one who has thought about writing many times but never actually moved beyond that, you have inspired me to revisit that idea. I love these Sketchbook Club videos and always come away intrigued and my thoughts have new places to explore.

I had no idea you are the author to Illustrated Journey! I intended to purchase the book after seeing a review of it in RU-vid and I hadn't gotten around to it. I also saw it on Amazon. I will definitely purchase it now that I know that you are the author. I am new to Sketchbook Skool and I have been watching the videos which have truly motivated me. Thank you for your time and energy to help us all.😊
