I feel the need to thank you for creating this channel, so thank you for creating this channel. I've heard so many RU-vidrs have struggled with uploads and a constant schedule and on top of that you're an artist and art takes a very long while. I love your sketches, the attention to detail, the concepts, everything. It's beautiful, thank you.
Thank you Leah, you are very kind! RU-vid definitely is a struggle, as it's very hard work, especially when you have other stuff to work on beside it too. I've been hit pretty hard by the new algorithm too, which is disheartening, but it has also allowed me to meet incredible people, and is really fun, a lot of the time. Thank you for your appreciation!
This sketch book is legendary! The harp couple, i love this one so much. (white on black at the inside of back cover) Also the one with a hummingbird which you didn't talk much lol. And the you practiced lighting, a lamp-like head and moths. That one is so touching to me. Love ❤️❤️
Thank you very much! The one with the hummingbird was frustrating for me, so I didn’t feel like talking about it, hahaha! I’m glad you liked it though ^^
@@myriamtillson Really? 😆I'm so moved by the bird one. At first glance i thought oh yeah we're proud that we're human but sometimes little things can make us fall apart or even consumed by it just like that hummingbird. 😝
Your artwork and concepts are SO unique and emotional to me!! I am just in awe of your mind for you to be coming up with idea after idea like this. Very inspiring to see, and as a beginner artist it makes me almost explode with excitement for the things i want to work towards so i can get to a point where i can explore and create from my own mind and be able to properly visualize my own ideas. Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you so much! It’s definitely amazing to feel like I am finally at a stage where I find it easier to put what is in my head on paper. It can still be frustrating, but I’m definitely getting there, and you too, for sure! We’re all in this together, and I am so glad that I can help inspire others, even a little bit! Wishing you all the best with your art!
Thanks for this lovely sketchbook walkthrough. You have so many amazing ideas! Don't stress too much about saying you want to paint / sculpt things from your sketchbook - it probably feels repetitive to you but it's not annoying at all! Of course you plan to do more with the ideas in your sketchbook (please do!). My favs: I love the ribbon tigers, and long live the conker eye!
What a beautiful sketchbook cover! I love moonlit night scenes, they are both eerie and calming, which is a neat juxtaposition. Thank you for sharing your sketches. I struggle with coming up with concepts, but you seem to overflow with them. I love the idea of the transparent girl with the hands reaching through her, I hope you do turn that concept into a painting :)
You as a person are so sweet! You as an artist are absolutely phenomenal, I don't want to say that you're talented because I don't want to take away from your hard work and passion 😊
I think the "moths to a flame" idea is really interesting. It put me in mind of the following: When people ask me where the ideas for my art come from I say "they are just floating around. All you have to do is reach out and grab the ones that catch your eye". I think the best part of this video is at the end where you show that the sketchbook is actually the result of 7 months' work. It's all too easy to see videos like this and get discouraged because you think someone else is so much more productive. Maybe they are and you can use this as a motivator, or maybe, just maybe, you're doing ok. I love these videos because you work in a completely different way to me. I would love to have sketchbooks full of lovely drawings, but my sketchbooks look like the worst kind of scribbled doodles imaginable. I tend to work out most things in my mind and my sketches really are just there to sort out basic positions of objects or to help solidify compositional ideas. There is nothing inspirational or aesthetic about them. I find that if I work it out too much in a sketch I risk getting bored when I do the finished work. I'll also worry about the lost of spontaneity that might occur with the reworking of images. Maybe one day I'll take the time to make beautiful sketchbooks like yours. Until then, I'll just have to work the way I work.
Yes, my inspiration process is somewhat similar, although I need to exercise my mind to get ideas flowing smoothly. The image of productivity is definitely skewed with social media, which can be damaging, I know it affects me a lot of the time. I use multiple sketchbooks, so I didn’t use only this one for 7 months, but it was my main one. The rest of your comment worries me that people might think I curate my sketchbook, haha. I am a strong proponent of not curating sketchbooks and using them as experimentation tools, so I don’t ever want people to think they need to curate and clean up their sketchbooks. Mine look the way they do because I am a little bit neurotic about drawing, and about thinks looking organised. I actually am trying to step away from making detailed sketches so much, as I can sometimes use working on a sketch as an excuse to not start making a bigger painting or working on a different project. I don’t try to make my sketchbooks look finished or clean and aesthetically pleasing, but I am quite controlling, and in order to feel like I was productive, my brain insists that I produce finished looking sketches per page. I’m not much of a doodler and have never been, as the chaos makes me stressed, but I’m trying to work on that, as it also helps my inspiration sometimes. We all work differently, and what works for us might not work for others, so I don’t ever want anyone to feel like they are doing they sketchbooks wrong when they look at mine! :)
@@myriamtillson I didn't mean to suggest that you curate your sketchbooks, just that you work in a much more thorough and deliberately tangible way than I do. Looking at your sketchbook tours has made me re-examine why I work the way I do and to reevaluate whether it is serving me as well as it could. While my thought processes are long and deliberate, I tend to jump from a few scribbles to work out the essential details and then straight into the final work. I don't think that your sketching out ideas makes your ideas less spontaneous in your finished work. In fact what I see in your work is that not only is the finished work more thoroughly thought out and executed, but in fact has a greater sense of movement and alive-ness (!). I love your videos, please keep doing them.
Your work is so unique. I dont know why but your art really speaks to me. It is original and real. I would love to see all your ideas worked out. My favorite is the lady with all the hands arround her, perhaps touching or pulling her. Xxx
Your art is amazing. It's beyond unique, I don't have words to describe how beautifully creative it is. I could honestly stare at it for hours analyzing every stroke. I get lost in the depth and movements
Thank you Alexis, that means a lot! I am always so humbled and amazed that my personal struggles and tribulations and weird art can help inspire others. I truly believe that the more art is out there, the better, and I hope you will find the kind of art that makes you fulfilled and happy. Trust me, we are all a little bit lost in some way or another, and life is the journey we take to find ourselves, and art is a pretty good place to start, in my opinion, haha. Wishing you all the very best, and never be afraid to create what you want to create!
I’m envious of your ability to generate such a wide of variety of unique ideas. Your imagination is incredible. Truly art. I can see all of these hanging on a wall and making the owner of them both proud and look very cool/hip! Lol. I’m surprised you have any time to yourself. I can’t imagine being disappointed with a piece. I’d just give you money and say surprise me. Maybe give you a tone and that’s it. Lol. I’d trust you’d wow me. Lol
How to motivate yourself to draw: Watch Myriam and strive to produce something even half as good as her work. Ps. I'm watching this shortly after midnight and got inspired to draw hands lol
You have an incredible imagination. You’re quite fearless with your ideas. You’ll go anywhere. They really force you to try and define them. Lol. Thought provoking.
Wow, just..wow. You are so talented and even though I'm new here (infact this is my first video that I've watched of you, im pretty sure) you inspire me so much. I may not do realism, but I would strive to have that emotion and creativity! This is irrelevant to what I was just spewing on about, but I never really watched sketchbook tours because i would drown in misery. I really hated my art and I would compare myself to artist who are 5 years older than me. However, recently I've been watching sketchbook tours. I want to see the process of sketching or people's ideas. I hope this'll make me better. I've already seen slight improvement but I'm still not sure. Don't know what my point was in that, but I just want to thank you. Have a great day! Hope to see more of you :3
Tbh I just started the video to get some general inspirations for my own art, but after watching 2/3s of it I must say I honestly love your art. I prefer the sketches because they are more loose but the general concepts of your art speek to me on a very core level. The sketch I really love is the one at the 14:00 minute mark. I couldn't even pinpoint the reasons but the fingers and the general pose and composition are simply beautiful. Keep it up!
i just found your channel and wow, i have never seen such an artist with lovely conceptual creative work. all your art just makes my eyes widen in amazement. your truly talented!
Your sketchbook is awesome as usual! Thank you for sharing your process and your journey. And the covers are print worthy!! Omg I love the moodiness and beauty of them!!
I love seeing your work and your process. Thank you so much for taking time to share these things! Tou are one of my favorite illustrators and I hope one day to be a successful and skilled artist. Like you! :)
Holy cow that cover is amazing!!!! I’m so sad I missed the live 😣😣😣😣😣😣😣 Edit: you’re so cool & your sketches are gorg, the book looks like one of those that artists compile of their best and publish a book! Those crystal eyes and all the hands are my fave!!!
Wow! Gorgeous covers. I’m like that too... I have a ton of ideas I want to do but rarely get to start or finish my projects. Thank you for sharing, love all your sketches. =) Your concepts are so different and fascinating.
Creepy but beautiful sketchbook. I love drawing dark stuff to but don't do it as often as I would like. Some of these would look amazing as oil paintings.
How do you set your sketches so they dont rub off other drawings? Is it just a spray or is it a process? Btw I love your art! It's a huge inspiration to me and my art ❤
It's just spray! I get the cheapest art setting spray I can find in the shop and do one of two coats :) but I often forget and my sketchbook gets covered in graphite dust 😂
Can you please make tutorial of different techniques for beginners???? I'm a beginner as well and I don't know if I can go to your level but I still wanna try.....please upload it Please😐
Hi! First time checking out your channel! I love your voice/accent, and your drawings! It's very inspirational for me, and might be a big boost for when I can find myself a new sketchbook and start drawing (because I just finished my sketchbook a few days ago). Thank you for the amazing sketchbook tour :)
HELP! i have been searching for a sketch Book tour i Saw like 3 years ago i remember the ytuber was chill and the thumbnail was a sketch of a girl facing the viewer in pink pencil. I have been searching everywhere and i really want to find it there was also like a rounded triangle she drew on the nose where the highlights would be pleaaaase help!! Tyyy
RU-vid changed its algorithm a few months ago and it has been hitting quite a few creators quite hard. Our reach has been cut, new videos are not being shown to subscribers, and growth has been stunted. I used to grow fairly consistently and my views slowly got better, but since the change, my views have heavily stagnated and my growth has slowed down considerably. I initially thought it was my fault and that people didn’t like my content anymore, but I did some polls and some research, and I also got a bunch of comments saying that people weren’t getting notified of my uploads anymore. I can only assume I wasn’t growing fast enough for the algorithm, and therefore stopped being a channel worth boosting.
