Whoa your landscape studies are so pretty

I've been using the same sketchbook, and at first I wasn't so sure of it, but I've come to really love the paper. I didn't abuse the spine enough at the start so I was annoyed that it didn't open flat, but now I'm almost at the end I really love the paper and not afraid to open it up wide. I love the way the paper barely warps. Such a lovely sketchbook.

Really lovely sketchbook - I especially liked the contented cat sniffing the overhead flowers at the beginning. Thanks for sharing.

Ah! I loved this! It was so wonderful to see these old paintings that are so great and also get a review of the journal too. Your character studies are really nice; you should do videos about them too!

OH MY GOSH I LOVE THAT HAPPY CAT LOOKING UP WITH THE FLOWER CEOWN I WANT TO SQUEEZE IT!!! I ended up getting both of these sizes back when you originally reviewed them, and I think I’ve just barely used them at all. My hand•books keep dominating my Travel experiments and I love them despite not really knowing how to say WHY.

I love your paintings as always. Especially the page on Oct.4.2017, Nov.3.2017, Dec.12.2017, Dec. 21 2017 and the kitty paintings :) I have two of these sketchbooks as well. One hardbound 9x12 for galaxy paintings and other originals, and a smaller softbound so I can have an art journal with prompts of sorts. The hardbound version makes it easier to keep the paper flat I've found, when I do heavy washes then let it dry. They are really fun sketchbooks to work with.

Strathmore 500 sketchbooks are amazing I prefer the hardcover ones but overall the paper is lovely def gonna have to check out your handmade paints when they’re up 😃

hi eve, this is an interesting review! i’m glad you thoroughly enjoyed your experience with this sketchbook, but i can’t say i feel the same :( i used this sketchbook (hardcover version) on and off over the duration of a year, due to the paper being so difficult for me to work with. ink feathered when i tried to use it, colors didn’t layer on properly (and i was using professional paints too!), paper warped like crazy and overall it was difficult to use in comparison to my other watercolor journals / sketchbooks. i didn’t seem to have an issue using it for graphite work though, which worked out well. maybe mine was a defect; or maybe my art skill wasn’t up to par, but i’m glad you still managed to achieve such beautiful pieces with this!! ...maybe this paper just isn’t for me 😅

Just bought one and I love it! In fact, I like it way better than the watercolor version. The paper is sooo nice!

I had a terrible time using this paper-everything looked dull, and the paper seemed difficult to handle-but now I can see that I need to give it another chance. All your sketches and studies look so luminous, I’m inspired to try to figure out what works best with this sketchbook.

nice, love the long silence in the middle of the video... it is pleasant, one more like Sugesstion the note or reminder in the begining, if you put it , at least it should be at the end of t he video, actually I forgot but then came again to put the like.. north european accent?

Is it good for markers, ink and colored pencils?

I loved getting a chance to look at your landscapes. They're all serene and beautiful color. I think you should work 16x20 scale! or at least 11x14 I love their 500 series coldpress watercolor paper, it's all I use now.

I enjoyed your video :) How does this sketchbook compare to the Stillman & Birn Beta? I am going to treat myself as a reward for keeping up with The 100 Day Project. Have you tried the Derwent Journal? I have been quite pleased with how well it is standing up to some watercolour and ink, it does buckle a bit with more water but pretty good for the cheap price I got mine for. Has to be said though the cover is awful, faux suede but nothing like suede, lol.
