I came here with a search for "dungarees", and going through the whole video, I have to say I did not listen to the story, but I paused the video maybe 20 times as you wear a crazy lot of magnificent outfits. Do you mind if I use it as styling vlog? It very much aligns with my clothing taste. I also reeked Netherlands in one of the first shots. Red bicycle asphalt, then typical houses, and later I saw Amersfoort(?) and a few villages in the bible-belt of the Veluwe I guess? Where are you from? It does not sound native Dutch.
Watching better a second round: Alkmaar and Bergen.... Thank you so much! I'm really flattered that you liked my outfits-that means a lot! I used to wear mostly grey clothes, but in the last few years, I’ve really started to enjoy experimenting with different styles. Maybe I’ll make a video about my style evolution one day! That was Hoorn and Alkmaar in the video. I’m originally from Belarus, though, which is why my English might not sound native.
Oh Emma, this was so lovely!!!! What a most beautiful place you live. I love that you are able to ride your bike so easily to such lovely places. I look forward to watching the video again and drawing that beautiful castle. So charming!!!!! I would love for you to do these types of videos more often but I would ALSO LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to see more of you sketching too and your finished sketch or at least how much you finished before you left. Thank you for taking the time to do this type of video for us and for putting it on RU-vid for all of us to be able to watch!!! Much love to you!!!!
I really appreciate your kind words! Thank you so much-it truly makes me smile to know you enjoyed the video. I’ll definitely keep your suggestion in mind and try to share more of my sketching process and finished pieces in future videos. Much love to you too!
Hi Ema ! I did really appreciate this format : your idea of still shot sketching is brilliant ! However, I would have liked to see how you had interpreted this landscape , even briefly !
I’m so happy you liked the idea! Thank you for the feedback-I’ll definitely make a video soon where I share how I interpret the landscapes. I’m excited to show you more!
I like the idea of sketching outside! I have enjoyed sketching and painting inside because I live tucked on the edge of the woods overlooking a grassy field. Wildlife happens outside my window but it is a different calming to actually be outside. 😊
I know exactly what you mean! I also love the comfort of sketching inside, but sometimes I like to push myself to try something new. Being outside really does bring a different energy!
You definitely have gorgeous landscapes and places to sketch, really stunning! I love going out sketching and painting and I have done it so many years, and when I moved to this place where I live now, there was hard to find other's who liked it too, and there was no sketch groups. Then finally after a few years, many arts programs came and through one of them I met another artists who loves sketching out as much as I do, and together we started our sketch group.
That’s so cool! I have friends I hang out with, but we mostly meet in cafes. Maybe I should start a sketch group in Alkmaar too-it sounds like a fun way to connect with others who enjoy sketching!
Thank you so much for your lovely video! I also find sketching outside meditative :D I love how you film and show the beautiful surroundings =D have a lovely day
Thank you so much! I’m really glad you enjoyed the video. Sketching outside is definitely meditative, I agree! I plan to make more videos like this, but since I’m still pretty new to it, it might take a little time. Have a lovely day too! 😊
It was lovely seeing you ride along to this beautiful place and later see it so long and hear the sound of nature. But I agree with many other comments that it would be nice to also see what you sketched.
I swear I thought I included it! I must’ve been so excited to post the video that I completely missed that part. I’ll make sure to share my sketches in future videos-thank you for pointing it out!
Love being able to sketch a view with you. It not only gives us a timer, but let's us experience a place we would never experience on our own in other parts of the world. The background sound was really nice, is that really what it sounded like that day? Also, Id love to see more of your work while doing this... It's a great meditation and sketching exercise. Love how you made the frame for us.
Oh my goodness Ema! This was pure magic! I really adored this format and getting to draw with you in the beautiful area where you live. You are so incredibly inspiring! I have also fallen in love with drawing outside this year too. I also live in a really beautiful place in Sweden and it has made me fall more and more in love with my small town too. I think my art has also gotten better. Really looking forward to your next video!
I’m so happy to hear that! It’s such a great feeling when you can see progress in your art, right? I love that I’ve started drawing outside too. hope to make new video soon!
Not in this exact format, but I do have plenty of videos on my Patreon where I show references and the whole process, along with explanations of what I’m doing. Thanks for asking! 🥰
Thank you so much Ema for sharing with us these beautiful places, and spot of nature. I agree with you that painting outside is more challenging than in our studio. Otherwise I would have loved seeing how you do your composition while painting the big house/castle.
thanks for sharing your outside sketch travel! and funny, how it's possible to leave the bike without locking it to something 🙈 It should be a really peaceful and quite place ❤
I locked it. We have two types of locks-one that's built into the bike and secures the back wheel, and another that's a chain lock. I use the chain lock if I'm leaving my bike for hours in a place where it's more likely to get stolen.
Thank you for the great video. It was a big pleasure to see your beautiful, cosy town and the surrounding and to hear the bird's sounds :-) Sketching outside is very hard for me because what you said in this video it's hard to choice the object to draw and arrange it on a paper. Additionally the people nearby me distract me. But who knows maybe someday I will break my comfort zone, I signed up for the offline workshop in Sewilla by Victoria Semykina, this will be a step forward - I hope :-) I agree with you that sketching outside is surely the most developing practise for artists. I did very quickly sketch with black ink during your sketching session. Big hug for you 🥰
That’s awesome! I’ve been to one of Victoria Semykina's workshops, and I believe it's the best way to push yourself out of your comfort zone. You’re going to love it! Sketching outside is definitely challenging but also super rewarding. Big hug back to you! 😊
That was a lovely video Ema and you live in such a beautiful place💚 I love this format of going along with you whilst you sketch outside but i also love having the option to have you playing in the background whilst i am working because the nature sounds are so peaceful🐦 Thank you for sharing🙏
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I’ll definitely make more videos like this. It’s great to hear that the nature sounds make for a peaceful background while you work 🥰
Such a beautiful place to sketch Emma 😍 I started sketching more outside home this year, still tricky but will get there 😅 needs practice like drawing!
