Wow. That's REALLY sharp. The drawing is really clean looking. That would be really cool for sport replay and showing what happened on a play. Might also be useful for people who do training on stocks. I'm sure there are a million other uses... but you did a great job on the software.

Kudos on the Alpha channel re-factoring/re-writing. Writing in black, now that you mention it, is something you Don't Often See for overlay/keying. As you pointed out. 👍 And the "moving window",❗amazing that you got that working and sooooo fast/interactive. Seeing is believing.

My immediate thought was to use this for live sports productions for instant replay, but I'm wondering, are you able to map this onto an input like an NDI source or VMix instant replay input directly onto a touch screen surface? As you're scribbling on the tablet, you really don't have any context for what's on the screen. Or are you able to see your video feed?

This particular tablet does have an LCD display and it is showing the live video, so I see the video source that I'm drawing on along with the annotations in real time. The video isn't going through the computer at all. The computer is just generating the graphics, and then my ATEM video switcher is combining the graphics with other live sources (cameras, replay, or whatever). Any video switcher would work. The output of the switcher is then sent to the tablet's internal display so I can see exactly what video is live.

Hi, this is so nice. how is the basic edition working ? is that something like a chroma key signal that goes into the mixer or is it always key and fill that is needed for both versions ?

You'll use a Luma key with the Basic edition. Chroma keys don't really work that well for this type of application.

Hi, dose every version of it require two cables for key and Fill ? or is it different with the none pro version ?

The separate fill/key is an optional feature. If you don’t need to draw using black you can use a single cable with a Luma key and it will work just fine.

Nice work Doug, Looks great! It makes sense from a budget perspective but HDMI can have sync issues with key/fill (especially if you run them through BMD-converters) so native Decklink-support that use the external keyer would be great. I guess you could use a intermediary software like CasparCG or OBS but as you're using the program output (or cleanfeed2?) for reference i guess more than a few frames of latency would quickly degrade the talent's experience. Also a perpetual license would be very welcome as a manually updated subscription model does not work for everybody.

I'm looking into DeckLink support. Unfortunately Blackmagic hasn't published the proper wrappers to make integration into C# applications so there might be a bit of an uphill battle getting it to work

@@djp_video Very understandable. BMD has a lot of room for improvement when it comes to API's, SDKs and overall documentation. If it wasn't for channels like yours a lot of stuff would be a lot more difficult. Thanks!

Hi. Nice app. Have a doubt. Does it have palm rejection comparability. The tablet you are using wacom one does not have touch. For eg if one is using wacom 13 pro it will have touch along with pen input. Which means your software will need to have palm rejection working or it will be difficult to write. Can you plz comment on this. Thanks

For devices which support both pen and touch, palm rejection is handled by the device or its drivers. An application like mine doesn't ever need to handle that

This is so cool! This is exactly what I have always wanted. What's the cheapest windows box I can get that will work with this? I have no other use for Windows, but I am willing to buy a machine just to run this software!

@@djp_video Funny enough, I just bought a version of that Beelink that has 2 NICs for a different project. It also has 2 HDMIs though, so maybe it can do double duty in my studio!

Do you have one time license model. Does sketchpad support and receive NDI streams?

No; it's currently only available as a perk to channel members and Patreon supporters. SketchPad does not do the video overlay. It's just providing the graphics. The overlay is done by a connected video switcher.

I have a Surface Go with a pen lying around. Would that work with this software?

Yes, it will. You won't be able to see the live video behind the drawing on the Surface, though.

@@djp_video I'm thinking have a color commentator use it during football games and he'll already have another program monitor next to him. Maybe I'll swap that monitor for a touchscreen. Feature request: When you make a highlight box/circle, have the ability to do a zoom on it. Picture an instant replay with a foot on the sideline and being able to isolate that and zoom into it. Something you see on Network broadcasts.

This is where the toolbar lies. This bug was fixed in a software update published about a week ago.

If NDI gets put in this would be the new standard for lower end productions especially since Newtek discontinued their NDI telestrator.

I stand corrected. It does do arrows ('A" keyboard shortcut) and lines ('L' keyboard shortcut). I just forgot that I had added it.

Looks great Doug. As a side note, is it just me or was the autofocus on your camera in this video was working a little too hard some times?

Yeah, I switched to an older X70 camera a little while back and its AF does glitch from time to time. I just need to remember to disable it.
