I know you added this two years ago but Ive only just seen it. Thank you so much for giving a working example of using Sketchup. I have finally managed to plan out my van racking by using your tutorial. Couldn't of done it without you, I had tried plenty of times. Great work.

you are right about cutting lists. As everything you do is bespoke, doing it your way, by paper means that you can plane and check the construction intensions and methods as you go. We did this even though we could have used plugins. This way all our final drawings were spot on! Another place attempted automated cutting lists but there were always problems. The other benefit is yhat in your mind it reinforces and helps with actual planning steps.

Great video guys!! Looking at doing something like this under my own stairs in the near future. It would be amazing and sooo helpful to see how you do your cuts and install the hinges etc right through to the install of the doors and facias. Brilliant work! 🙏

really good tutorial. I like the pace of this. Keep in the slower bits even the 'mistakes' when drawing with sketchup as way more realistic, and we will all do this!

Great video, and I use a very similar process with sketchup. I was wondering, as I'm a bit stumped on this one, what you guys do for angled storage where the pitch/roofline is over 50 degrees? Does this rule out full cabinets given the limits at which you can cut bevels on the tops of carcass sides? I've just been asked to create cabinets in a converted loft space with a roof pitch of 53 degrees!

Hi Ryan, thanks again for all the info. What method do you use to assemble the angled joints of the angled cabinets? How do you keep the tops and sides of the cabinets aligned when you're assembling them?
@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop
@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop 2 года назад
Hey, thats no probs . I'll either put a few biscuits or dominos in those joints but is possible without, just allow for the slight sliding if you do 👍

Hi do you have any DIY plans? How do you fix the carcasing together? Screws, gluing, brad gun, or dowels? Etc….. my missus is making me build one soon 😭

Thanks mate! I'm not sure to be honest right now but I'll look into that when I make my next video for next Sunday. It should just be in the menu/tool options in the upper menu to add more tools.

Nice video! Do you use keyboard shortcuts when not doing the demo video? You should get an external keyboard and laptop stand that would raise the height up saves your neck over time.
@emmaslow
@emmaslow 2 года назад
I second the laptop stand and bluetooth keyboard. Would love to know more about keyboard shortcuts, @Sam Rix
@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop
@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop 2 года назад
Cheers! Your right, but its one of those things you never get round to doing/buying. I don't use the keyboard shortcuts that often tbh, im pretty quick using Sketchup myself so only use a few of them

@@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop shortcuts are good to save having to move the mouse cursor up and down. Is like 2 monitors once you start you find doing it from the menu a pain again
