Last time I ran the alpine it felt like the clutch wasn't shifting out, it would engage then just rev instead of shifting. So in addition to being hard to turn it was also a lot slower than it should have been. Would have done this job earlier if we actually had snow to ride but this year has been tough.

I just wanted to say thank you for making this video! I've been all over RU-vid looking for a video on this specific drive clutch and have come up empty handed until I found this one and I found it very helpful. If you ever do a video on the secondary/driven clutch removal/cleaning it would be great because info on this specific setup and clutch is hard to come by. Thanks again!

Although I want to ride, the weather has been a blessing in disguise for me. Ps thanks for reminding me I got a hex clutch to do. Darn thing is about to rattle itself to death.

Ya, those hex clutches are high maintenance too.

managed to pull mine out of the ice and snow. started it up after a quick clean of the carb. Clutch doesn't want to engage. 1st battle was ice and snow. 2nd was the carb. 3rd clean that clutch. hopefully it isn't much more than that. Burnt more gas than I moved. Clutch is so far gone. maybe change the belt too.

I like the Alpine , best sled for trapping ever made ! My Evinrude skeeter is a close second !

You have never driven a Yamaha bravo trapper edition with a 136 track

@@brennensbuildsmoore5537 you are correct ! I’ve never driven one . I should have said in my opinion , I also have a 1994 Polaris Indy 2 up sled 440 with a trapper basket that I use and love now a days !

looks like the snow in your neck of the woods is all melted! maybe you will get a bit more before the seasons over so you can sled some. We still have plenty on the ground from the storm last week here in New England

That's all the snow has done this season is melt, we keep getting warm spells. :( Ride while you can!

I used to have a 78 Skidoo Olympique 340 and the clutch blew up on it one day and it was the square drive double roller clutch and the one of the roller arms broke off and at first no one had parts for it until I remembered a guy who had a couple parts sleds and he sold me a clutch for it

Parts are not the easiest to find for the old square shafts, I have a tough time keeping the one going in my grass drag sled.

Ever have to take the inside clutch plate off? Trying to figure if it's threaded or tapered. I'm trying not to force anything...yet! Good video!

Hmmm, can't remember on the 640, but it might be threaded? I would imagine that if it was threaded there wouldn't be any threads inside the square portion for a puller?
