Ride down the best ski route in the region, the Wilde Grub'n on the Stubai Glacier, Austria. The longest trail on the Stubai Glacier, red 14, the Wilde Grub'n winds through superb, wild scenery and there are some epic off-piste sections between the traverses and marked sections. @@Pisteview While I was growing up in Austria in the late 80s/90s I have been living in Tirol for over 6 months and since then I got in love with Stubaital. Coming back with groups of snowboarders-wannabes whom I brought the way how to enjoy such routes. Nowadays I can't think about coming back as it deems not sustainable anymore. Just a memory of times when nobody took care :D

Thanks @lubayartpl. I stood on the Wilde Grub'n at the end of last season. Covid meant the ski area was empty. I didn't see another person on the entire ski route - it was special!

@@Pisteview Sounds like some mid-week trips I did in the early 90s... I love this place. First week of May was the best T-shirt-kind-of-ride-mode with a "wintersuhn" (winter sun) and still soft ground. Or maybe I am dreaming... as it was in my 20s :) Great time for a decade in the Austrian & Italian alps on the board.

Amazing video, thanks! Could you please tell whether this run would be challenging for snowboarders, since it seems like there are a lot of mellow sections of the run?

Thanks Ap Kawa. The route is an absolute classic. With a guide there are some fantastic off-piste sections. Sticking to the ski route there are plenty on different sections to choose. For snowboarders there are a couple of sections where you need speed before a flat but don’t let that stop you. At the right time of day and in the right conditions this is one of the best ski pistes in the region. Enjoy!

Thanks @Michael Podlesny - we are skiers and poor decisions aren't the preserve of snowboarders. Luckily over camera operator took a different line. I can see why people take time out on the Wilde Grub'n - it is a magical wilderness. I hope you've had / are having a great winter.
