Watching this video totally hooked me on the product. The engineering and execution is really excellent. This solution answers many problems for me with my Honda Transalp to provide protection of thrown gravel and rocks and while save me in the case of casing a rock or log. I like the quiet of the polymer and strength vs weight. When I consider my needs the AXP product with smooth exterior surfaces the bike is much more likely to slide over my slow speed rock / log encounters (I really don’t plan to hit them). Sliding vs “sticking” causes less forces into the bike but more importantly, I want to be on the other side of the obstacle without me falling over. My own KTM 350 EXCf has a heavy duty aluminum skid plate (bash plate?) I am considering changing it to an AXP Racing unit for that use (where I “plan” to hit things).

Thanks a lot for your feedback ! We appreciate your comments and couldn’t have explained it better! Indeed, one of the advantage of HDPE plastic is to slide over obstacles without sticking onto them. The plastic we use is 30 to 40% lighter than aluminum and it does not reverberate noises like rocks or anything that might hit the plate. Do not hesitate to have a look at the website to discover all the protections available for the KTM 350 EXCF: www.axp-racing.com/en/

@@axpracing I have reached out to you folks via Email. I’ll add some additional comments if you don’t mind. I agree with a lot of people who don’t like the incompatibility of a center stand is understandable. I think those who use that center stand to give up the extra skip plate rear support isn’t going to be a problem. Like the stuff I talked about “sliding over rocks and logs” (small ones albeit) isn’t compatible with a center stand. We all want every conceivable capability and feature for all kinds of riding which I would also like. I want to ride around the world, bomb the Autobahn and ride single track and hard enduro… it isn’t going to happen. Sometimes it might be we want to have those mental exercises and hang every feature onto a bike I won’t make me into Chris Birch. I have been practicing motorcycle riding for 60 years now and have concluded Chris Birch isn’t in danger of me taking his job. My Transalp is being built for what I hope is inside of a specific ridding “envelope” yet I “fear” I will explore the outer corners of my planned “envelope”. My company build suspensions for bikes like this. We want to make the motorcycle “package” that works for me and my customers who want to realistically build a practical bike “build” (more accurately, setup) for each person. We are surprised by folks who get a Tenere 700 for all the capabilities yet want to lower the bikes where the performance isn’t better than something which was already designed to fit them. I’m not criticizing because I also get enjoyment from customizing my bike. I ride many bikes, mine and customers bikes but I want to help a realistic use target. Your APX product is really unique and d I think you to understand the engineering challenges. For me huge crash bars with bike added lights and huge aluminum panniers full of stickers won’t satisfy my riding ambitions. Others are satisfied with these options and more power to them. We would set up their bike for what they want. I am not a good enough rider to do that without injury or disappointment (again, for me personally). That sounded like a rant… no, I hope I am expressing my pleasure of what you are designing. I’ll have one for my 350EXCf soon also I hope.

You can find all the details on the product page: www.axp-racing.com/en/product/skid-plate-honda-xl750-transalp-2023-2024-black-ax1727 It is compatible with Honda / Hepco & Becker / SW Motech crash bars but there isn’t any centre stand option. Thanks!

@@moulin680 Hello, There is a 30mm plastic block on the rear of the skid plate (you can see it at 1:40 on the tutorial video). This reinforcement comes against the tube. The Honda centre stand is also fixed against this tube thanks to a welded block. So, if you remove our plastic block, then you should be able to mount the skid plate with the centre stand on, but it will reduce the resistance in case of crushing. If you want a more detailed explanation, do not hesitate to ask us by email to x.dugardin@axpracing.com Thanks 😉
