I hate the spin to win. It was clear that Jesper was trying to bring back the style not just spinning. It was so sad to see him have to give in to get onto the podium
Totally agree. Sending a dub 12 (for example) off the knuckle is crazy, and the number of variations these boys come up with is nuts, but it's kind of a standard trick at this point. We all know they can all do the big spins, I just wish they'd save them for slopestyle and big air. I know it can be tough though when the judges reward s2w.
I would cap the spins at 1080 or something. As in they’re entitled to spin beyond that but the judges have to judge it like they’ve only thrown a 1080 and then score the overall trick based on creativity, axis etc
I feel like the fact that they changed the shape of the lip to be more like a tabletop is discouraging a lot of the more creative knuckle tricks that make this event unique. I hope in the future they mellow it out a little more next year
With how popular knuckle huck is getting as an event they should probably start building a knuckle like they have been having at absolut in recent years
I really hope the knuckle huck doesn't continue down the spin-to-win trajectory it's on---that's what big air is for. The huck is for vibes and creativity.
Hey man, don't jump to conclusions. Be optimistic. Just because spin-to-win was rewarded this year doesn't mean it will in every future kuckle huck. X Games reads comments, and they listen to feedback. I have hope that they will change the judging on this
I watched the comp when it was posted so I could see if I would have the same thoughts. Turns out I'm definitely part of the steepsteep hivemind now. I even used the phrase spin to win. :/ I even shared the thought that Jesper threw that last dub cork to please the judges to get on the podium. Still a sick comp and lots of crazy tricks but yeah, just a light amount of disappointment sprinkled on. Not enough to come close to ruining it or anything just to be clear.
Rule suggestion for knuckle huck: technicality in spin scores only till 540 or 720, like you could do more, just a flat 1620 would be scored the same as a flat 720
they need to change something about this event. Big Air is mostly spin to win, even though they said they'd move away from that idea. Creativity should be rewarded WAY more in this event....also make it less of a lip so they can't just launch to the moon and spin like crazy!!
Jesper sending the dub 12 reminds me of when A Hall sent the 2160 in big air two years back, in both cases you could tell that they didn't want to do that trick but were forced to by the judging.
As amazing as the tricks were, most were just done on a really small tabletop. I wanted to see more use of the actual knuckle..... Hand drags, tip drags, helmet taps..... Jesper killed it with the flip onto the flat, flip off knuckle
I love the style addition to the big air but i wish they made it a separate style big air event. I love the more steezy tricks over the spin to win tricks.
At this moment we gotta wait for steepsteeps reaction/commentary on the event for a full on experience! Way more energic and enthusiastic compared to the paid ones at the eventdesk! Keep on your hard woork steep! lovely to watch all of ur content fr
Always entertaining, thanks for the commentary. Im pretty sure more people watch this more than the actual x-games broadcast. I wish they would just hire you to commentate and reward the people that are promoting and growing the sport. Loved the 30 year mortgage analogy, even bringing in the interest rate. Also bummed that it's turned into a goofy big air contest. Big air is not as fun to watch as the og knuckle hucks.
Dude! This is the first video I’m watching from your channel and not only are the vibes amazing but I think I just heard west side Gunn?? Amazing Edit: you a real hip hop head
Does Mr. Steep not work for ESPN because he’s already making too much money on RU-vid? Because Mr. Steep is by far the most superior commentator of all snow sports.
Gotta say, I hate how the Knuck Huck is going from style and creativity, to now a miniature big air comp. A few people try for the OG KH styles but they eventually have to start throwing big flips/spins to get judged properly. Sad to see and I hope that it changes next year.
Jesper was the only one who actually had some creativity and it bothers me they reward spin over style, that’s what big air is for, everyone did impressive jumps but Jesper is the only one that stood out amongst them.
