Wow… I personally reach 128km/h on snowboard and was scary af. I felt that, if I fell, I would have been exploded. This sport is so dangerous! Falling at 200+ km/h ends almost everytime in a tragedy!
@@MaxMax-di8kx with a phone app for tracking slopes, speed, difference in altitude, etc. And also compared to another run I had in Austria where there was a board that indicated the speed where I reached 100+ km/h. 128 felt sooooo much faster than 100!!! It was a red slope long a km or so in Zoncolan on the eastern Italian alps, and I did it straight in the early morning till the end where there was a large flat. Really Scary. My jacket was waving noisily! Sorry for my English… 😅🤣
To my knowledge, there is only one speed ski related death. And that was on a regular slope with missing safety precautions leading into a crash with a vehicle. Just fact checked. Seems like there are 2 more speed skiing related deaths but besides that, crashes happen and people get hurt but I actually don't think, that this is much more extreme than others sports.
@@zeno3486 No, bro! That isn't slow! You haven't a single video of you on RU-vid showing you snowboarding, so I very much doubt you've topped 50+kmh EVER. Most that can pretty much always show it off. I doubt you even have the technology to measure your speed properly.

Because no offence, I don’t mean to sound like a showoff but 50kmh is not really fast yet.. like around 80-90kmh is reasonably fast, anything above that definitely includes some fear kicking in;) It does ofcourse depend on said skill level, but the above 100% goes for any intermediate boarder/skier
@@gregoryashton you thinkin of MPH not KPH fam. 50 kilometers per hour on a board isn’t very difficult for an intermediate snowboarder to hit, that’s only 31mph
@@msadx5397 Granted, on the bigger open, ploughed slopes, 50 mph (80kmh) is achievable before kicking in, but off piste powder at 50kmh can be pretty sketchy

The vancouver accident that took off the head of the luge Olympian ( Nodar Kumaritashvili) is something I'll never forget. That wasn't 200km and he was semi sheltered, yet he basically exploded on impact. The outcome of this talented woman having an accident completely exposed going over 200km would be astronomical.
Been there, done that! I don't know how fast I was going, but when I worked at Sunshine Ski Village I did this from the top of The Divide chair. I also went off the top of the run and landed at the bottom of it. Stuck the landing too! 😅
