Skiing Tuckerman Ravine | April 

My second time skiing Tuckerman Ravine on Mount Washington. My brothers first time.
We did The Lip. It was a beautiful day and temps peaked in the low to mid 50s. A bit breezy on top of the ravine, which is to be expected.
We both changed layers at least three times. Should have stuck with the strategy, "be bold, start cold". The hike up Right Gully was the hottest. But once we breached the ridge, we were unprotected from the wind, and we cooled down quickly.
We should have brought crampons for the hike up. Past Hermit Lake Shelter, the trail was an icy mess. Before you could make do without crampons, but it would have helped in a few spots. Would have been especially helpful for the hike down to Hermit Lake Shelter from the Ravine floor. We were slipping and sliding everywhere. Unfortunately, I missed catching Zach slide on his butt on camera.
We skied Tuckerman Ravine on April 23, 2021. Camped out at Barnes Field campground the night before. Left Boston around 7 pm and set up tent just before 10pm. We were up and out by 6:30 am and got a great parking spot.
When we left, the lot was filled and there were cars parked on both sides of the road. Another popular spring day to ski Tuckerman Ravine.
Looking forward to skiing again next year.
