On the luigi bite call from top9: Maurizio aka the Next One (RSC Italy/7 Gems) did the W backspin to spinning side chair combo in the late 80s, early 90s. If you watch the Next One tape (it's on google videos) you'll see him do it in the scene that's colored orange/redish. Around 9 minutes I believe. Just to clarify to people who haven't taken the time to search the archives.
That’s a hard reach. Luigi does it way cleaner and actually holds both feet while doing the backspin. Maurizio just holds one leg on the backspin and doesn’t even land the spinning chair. He falls onto his butt
Freestyle Session 2 in May 98 was international was a exhibition battle between Soul Control and Kaiten Club, Freestyle Session 3 Nov 98 was international Flying Tortillas(all star crew) and Storm came from Germany. Freestyle Session 4 Saigon, Lil B and Benny came through, Freestyle Session 5 Nov 99 was international Rock Force/Rythm Bugs won. Its always been all start international peeps and super dream teams thats what catapulted the event to where its at.
Finally somebody knows this piece of history thank you. Its also on the Battle Squad tape with Storm and Swift Rock Vol 2 where Maurizio is in the cypher
I feel Top9/AtM needs a bit more recognition than they're getting. They held their own, and I actually felt they edged out the battle. It was a much closer battle than people are making it out to be. I think the name "Skill Brat Renegades" really hit a bunch of people's heads before watching the battle. Hell, when I heard about the squad, I was skeptical if anyone could beat them. But this battle proved me wrong. Of course, I didn't watch the battles leading up to it. Nonetheless, GREAT BATTLE!!
This was a really good event. I've watched the semis and final a bunch of times already. Great job Cros1 and Freestyle Session organizers and to all the crews. Also best I've seen Kid David perform at a jam since the height of Squadron when they were on the streak. He killed it every round.
I must agreed in what you saying. iam from Portugal and i remeber the freestyle session 200o, when i sow bboy benji, style elements and all a diferent amazing styllllllles, and now the magic of the breakdancing is not the same
I think this is awesome! NOT just because I see casper break again in a while, but because it has been even more time since I see him against the present players in the game..its like a way to mesure how bboying is now, and casp is the perfect way to do that
Top 9/All the Most had some really excellent stuff, but apart from Yan, they didn't have near the floor presence of SBR. It honestly looked like they got in Buddha's head (especially Luigi for some reason), so while he was busy trying to throw bites and talk, his crew looked like they weren't all on the same page. Kinda surprising that the team made up of different crews (yes, I know they're friends) had a stronger sense of unity, but at an event like Freestyle Session, that matters in a big way.
+seymourglass26 lol...top9 took this or acutally both Crews took this....but lol its typical american stuff...look at those people cheering more for SBR...like everybody its so false...i think top9 deserved this and not casper and some guys who make movies all the time...but well just a opinion Seymour
***** You make it sound a lot like an opinion when you spend more time talking about the audience and SBR's day jobs more than what happened on the floor.
I guess you re right. Top 9 has a history of calling bites (especially Robin, who's not in this battle). Although a few of the dopest bboys are in top 9, they have a weird view on what a bite is imo
It's fitting that for the 15 year anniversary of FSS, the battle is comprised of representatives from crews that have been rocking for most, if not all, of those 15 years. Its been years since I've thrown down, and even longer since I've been to my last FSS, but I'm happy to see that the scene is just as raw as I remember it to be.
Yo cros you should move freestylesession to las Vegas man, I think it be sick to do up the dopest jam on the planet in the dopest city on the planet all in 1 weekend!!
at 01:00 the bite sign from budha was not refering to the W backspin, i think he was refering to the grab airchairspin which maurizio does back in the days, isen that normal? and luigi backspin pop is a bite too? its just a freakin backspin roll back and just land LoL...well wasn't surprise with the loads of bite sign anyway from them
did enybody know what title is of the last track??please dont write stupid answers:Peverybody asking i gues because everybody love music and we just nead to know that:P
I think Casper throwing the shirt was pretty much "a Casper thing" of him to do, he gave them a pound and showed them respect, but then Top9 dissed him for getting in the zone of the music after Casper had already gave em' props. So of course he was gonna retort. And when Buddha threw it back in his face, during his set, I thought that was more fucked up.. my opinion though.
About Casper's round at 8:42--Is it me, or has Flying Buddha started to be more antagonistic/aggressive in battles? Casper's chillin' before the final round with a ton of presence. FB calls him a chicken, so Casper pops him with his shirt. At this point, it's heated, but still cool to me, but I'm not down with FB hitting Casper back. It's easy to stand, watch, and make sure you don't get burned, but touching the dancer's a little different, at least to me. Glad nothing came of it. Dope battle.
look carefully when Luigi does his backspin, Buddha and Robin says it's Mauritzio's move and than Casper says Kujo after Buddha does his first move. lmao
Totally agree. It's easy to stand on the edge of a battle and make sure you don't get burned. You NEVER touch the man on the floor. Buddha used to seem a lot more friendly in battles, but maybe I just wasn't looking close enough. He's been calling mad bites and getting pissed when people come at him.
