Im someone who got intimidated by old guides by not having higher gear so I waited to TRY bossing much later when i could afford better gear, in some way it was benefitial because it helped me with not being as punished for not dealing with mechanics correctly but as i moved past gwd1 and 2 the mistakes started to accumulate and before i was able to just bruteforce my way and now it was a constant visit to deaths office until I properly learned mechanics and abilities, to this day it still makes me a bit unsure to try new bosses on release even tho my skill has been enough to complete most of the content

I took the same route, despite doing Araxxor in my setup in this video, I actually learned it with dual wield ascensions and full sirenic after its release. RuneScape has a janky combat system for sure, but it wasn’t until I sat there for hours doing the same thing over and over that I started to get it. I had spent 10 hours just working in hm kerapac p4 in order to get my first kill using full tmw, and the guide I was watching was a guy using full Bandos. It gave me the though that, if he can do it in Bandos, there’s no reason I shouldn’t be able to get this in tmw without practice. It takes time, but eventually it will pay off.

at the start of your video is spot on, i wanted to get bolg, but at the time it was 6.4b, i figured with raptor week that i may as well just start trying my luck was horizontal bossing for a lot before i got my first couple of kills, but managed to get lucky and get 2 pieces within the 25 kills and made another 700m~ off the dungeon same with raksha ages ago i died / tele'd out around 50-60 times before i managed to land my first kill (mind you this was way before death rework too) its demoralizing sure but keep at it itll be worth it i started doing raksha with t80-90 gear no grico managed to make bank of raksha and im now close to Best in slot ranged and starting to focus on mage now thanks to rheyo's series!

What a great read. And yeah, I second your story about Raksha, i remember i didn't got my first kill until way, waaay many deaths, i even got most of them on Practice mode before getting my first (and only) kill for reaper crew. Granted, this was considerably harder on release week, but even after the nerf I didn't returned, i did got my second ever kill and recorded it, but after that i called it quits and focused on something else. Now, very, very recently i got that splinter on my hand telling me to try Raksha on Mobile, i have everything i need after all so i went for a couple kills and now, after a million years after release i have 10 Kills under my belt. So yeah, the key word here is dedication and persistence, powercreep and understanding of the boss mechanics can take you pretty far, but the most valuable thing to have is experience.

11/10 video! This is video doesn't exactly apply to my current skill level or gear stockpile, but I have a couple friends I'm gonna send this to that I think could definitely benefit from seeing this video. In the current state of the game, it's hard for a lot of newer players to see the value that melee offers as the most affordable/accessible gear when everyone seems to main magic these days for animate dead or incite fear. This video proves that it's all about how you approach learning a boss and mastering their mechanics. Keep up the awesome content! P.S. - Do you think you might ever make a how-to full manual guide? I think a lot of people would benefit from that kind of guide since the game tends to throw players straight into revo without even explaining how beneficial full manual can be.

The problem has never ever been the gear, we’ve seen many people do no food/no armor runs of hard bosses of course it’s possible. The problem is the skill gap is so high. Tryin to keep track of cool downs, skill rotations, health, boss rotations etc can be a lot for some especially with all the swaps. Nobody questions needing X gear to do a boss anymore if you’re skilled enough you can probably get it done without it. The gear just makes it easier
@Kranon
@Kranon Год назад
I wouldn't really call it a skill gap because (under normal circumstances) you don't really need lots of switches, prayer flicks, defensives juggling and Hybrid/Tribrid strategies, unless your goal are Speedkills for the PVM Records website. Take it from me, I've done and documented all solo bosses on the Mobile Client, with limited switches, prayer flicking and abilities, and let me tell you. "The secret" is as simple as you might think: Powercreep + Understanding of the Boss Mechanics + Solid Ability Rotation + Experience (obtained through practice) = You can do any boss you want, even on Mobile, make an example out of me if you wish. I'm probably the least skilled player in game, the PVMe collective probably laughs at my videos, but that goes to show, I'm by no means an expert, and my skill is average at best.
@phxntomplanet
@phxntomplanet Год назад
@@Kranon I understand what you’re saying but in the video his kills take way too long. The difference between getting 20 kills an hour vs 30 is a lot and I won’t do something with that large of a gap it would be a waste of my time IMO. Maybe it’s because I’m a perfectionist and if I know there’s more I can do I want to do it
@TheSCPStudio
@TheSCPStudio Год назад
Most of RS pvm is exactly the same mechanics under different forms. That’s the limit of the tick/tile system. So there’s really no skill gap aside from, you know… learning the boss. But many people are genuinely too dumb to understand mechanics and how they work. But no one wants to admit they’re too dumb, so they blame it on frivolous shit. I see it ALL the time in games.

Gear in RuneScape finally means something again compared to early eoc. If you give a trash player best in slot gear and perks and abilities they will deal significantly more damage than the best player with tier 80 gear. For instance giving someone a BOLG with Bik arrows against a poison target is guaranteed 250k DPM. Magic is probably close to that along with melee being around 180k.

I have no doubt that skill matters much more than gear; I mean, look at Evil Lucario doing Telos! Gear has tremendously helped me, though. I definitely could kill Rax with my RCB and Armadyl on bottom path and low enrage in 8-10 minutes. I abandoned Rax after about 15 kc and saved up for a Nox Bow and Pernix after doing runecrafting to 99. Then, I set PRs without trying and constant mistakes. I could push much higher enrages and used less supplies. Yes, skill is a major factor. However, getting T90 accuracy/damage/armor is such a massive, massive jump in efficiency that it is beneficial imo to just wait until one has decent gear.
@Kranon
@Kranon Год назад
Not to belittle that Pokémon, but you have to take into consideration he's a Telos specialist, he's probably done more Telos kills and has a deeper understanding about the boss than most people do. So it's only natural for him to be insanely good at a boss he has mastered beyond the higher level. Nevertheless, everyone can reach those levels of mastery by practicing enough, and having a deep understanding of the boss fight, because keep in mind, most bosses don't change mechanics, they're the same boss fight throughout the fight with very little variation (aside from Arch Glacor and Zamorak). There's a tern we use frequently called "Spreadsheet Warrior" which means people stick to a spreadsheet of the boss mechanics and abilties to use EVERY SINGLE ENCOUNTER, to reach the best results, and because there's little to no variation, it's extremely simple to follow, the main thing however is learning those rotations and executing them flawlessly every time. Here's an example, Vindicta with BIS Melee gear but no idea of the rotations to use takes between 40-50 Seconds, with revolution and using thresholds, ultimates manually. Vindicta with a proper rotation and BIS gear takes ~18 - 20 Seconds. Even with Revo basics and manual threshes. Even lower if you use stalled abilities. The point is, understanding the boss and having a solid rotation is a skill everyone can have, but mastering of it takes plenty of time and not everyone is willing to put in that effort.

I have a question about the weapons diversity beta back in 2019 that I really need to see if anyone remembers. In the beta all the gwd3 bosses were there except croceus. They let a few people that spent time doing pvm, into kerapac, glacor, and zammy. I cannot find any sort of info on it to prove that I was there. I know you've been around probably as long, or even longer than myself. PLEASE for my own sanity can you tell me if you remember this or not? Fsoa came out with kerapac first, then lengs with glacor, scourge/havoc/bow from zammy with a few changes in p7. There was a greater cleave, deep impact/tight-bindings, and an attempt at in home macros that were wonky af. People would use ecb as a swap with bow, and scourge and havoc were pretty much the same, but had bone scythe instead of ekzil. PLEASE im not joking. I knew how to do glacor and kerapac when they came out. I also called most of the drops that came out to friends as they released the bosses. One of the messages was that gw3 was ready. They did the elite dungeons and other things to distance the memory of them then released them as they did with little changes to mechanics and some changes to the drops. DO YOU REMEMBER THIS?

What was also funny is the fact most quest bosses seem to be on that level range, but also, it seemed trivial to add content to fill those gaps (since Superior Fremennik armour exist). Nevertheless it made me wonder... What if we had a new set of power armour that started at level 65 (maybe Superior Dragon armour, and ended at 75, Superior Dragonbone). That would bridge those gaps and provide newbies with a competitive alternative to GWD1 armour while they work towards Nex armour and GWD2 Arnour.

I dont quite agree with the mission of the video and it actually proves the "noob actor" right. Here's my criticisms 1. You demonstrate bandos, qbd and gwd2 as singular kills but these bosses are typically hour-trips in a single inventory when youre reasonably geared. Doable singular kills doesnt really showcase that these kills are worth the extra effort of banking each kill. 2. While learning to use defensives is generally a good stepping stone in the learner process, it doesnt change the fact that the meta is to learn how to dps harder so you deal with less mechanics or skip entire mechanics completely - which is why gear actually kinda matters a lot 3. The rax kill (and also the failed rax kill) showcases why being undergeared adds extra difficulty. Anyone with minimum t90s will easily just dps through but youre showing defensives like debil and cade when you typically spend adren on dpsing harder. And speaking of rax i think it's not very nice to tell noobs to do rax so they can go through the experience of praying to rngesus to get their final leg piece to make it sellable. Good video, good intentions, but i just think this just illustrates why a new player should just buy a few bonds and get some solid entry-level t90s and skip the suffering of having low base dps. Theres plenty of t87-t88 weapons that are very affordable actually, like the wilderness weapons, and base masterwork is very affordable. I'd also wouldve suggested starting off with gwd2/AG and skipping gwd1/qbd entirely. In any case, no hate, just my opinion.

No one wants to spend twice or three times optimal kill times or to feel like you're struggling constantly to squeeze out kills on bosses, let alone that you'd just end up making less then afk skilling. I agree if you want to be good you should actually practice with worse gear then you have, like at Telos I've seen a dude getting 200% kills with animate dead/fsoa and just tanking every mechanic because there's no need to dodge. At some point though that kind of play locks you out of pushing higher and not actually learning mechanics of the bosses you fight will just hurt you in the end which is the real reason you should do this imo.
