Is anyone else having issues getting a supplementary job in another sector code even after this new law? My share code still starts that the 20hrs must be on the shortage occupation list and so even though I am applying for jobs on the eligible occupation list, employers do not want to go ahead after seeing my share code. Can anyone help on what to do ?
Oh dear! That is sad. Have you replaced your BRP with an eVisa? Does the eVisa process for right to work share code state the same thing? This is something that the government has to address because there are many people losing important opportunities because of this. Can you write to the government informing them about this problem? Hello. It is a bit confusing. Is the new rule of working 20 hours in the eligible occupation code for people who had skilled worker before 4 April 2024? The right-to-work on the UKVI account still shows that you can only work in the jobs in shortage occupation list, while there is no such list available anymore.
There is no such thing as the shortage occupation list. It has been replaced with the Immigration Salary List. The BRP is being replaced with an eVisa, many people have already received their email notification to make the switch to eVisa. This means that the Right-to-Work might not have been updated due to it losing its relevance. I understand your confusion. If you have searched “ Supplementary Employment” in the government document in the description box and you are not satisfied with what you have read, visit the government website and call them to confirm. Check each occupation code using the technique on the video. Cleaning jobs are in Table 6 therefore you are not allowed to do them on a skilled worker visa. All the best!

@@princeiyke1883 Here is what I saw on the government website “You can also work up to do 20 hours a week in another job or in your business, as long as you are still doing the job you are sponsored for”. Kindly google “skilled worker visa: taking on additional work” and read that government website thoroughly.
It depends on the type of warehouse job. Check the code. I have a feeling that it is the one that is not allowed. Warehouse operatives are not allowed as a supplementary employment for skilled worker visa. Check Table 6 of the Statement of changes in Immigration Rules document. I hold skilled worker if I want to start extra 20 hours then what should i have to do , do i have to apply for update visa or report to home office or if I don't need to report or update visa then how can i prove my supplementary right to work to my employer as I checked right to work only showing extra in shortage occupation list which already replaced with immigration salary list and do I need a letter as well from my current Skilled worker employer ? please reply, Thank you
Let me start by stating that I am not an immigration advisor or consultant. Please visit the government website to ask them these questions. I will share my opinion based on what I read online. You don’t have to apply to update your visa. You should use your share code and share the information from the UK government website as evidence of supplementary employment. Yes, I know that the government has not updated the share code page may be because they are trying to migrate every BRP holder to the eVisa UKVI account. Of course, as with every employment get an offer letter from your supplementary employer. If you need any information visit the government website and call them or send an email. All the best!
If I was sponsored for a job from the shortage occupation list (before 4th april) and if I want to take on supplementary work, am I only allowed to choose from the immigration list? Ex- if I'm an engineer (sponsored based on the previous shortage occupation list) can I take on additional work to be a gardener, florist or baker (not on current immigration list)
It doesn’t matter when you are sponsored on the skilled worker visa, you can only take up jobs on the SoC 2020. If gardener and baker are on Table 6, therefore you are not allowed to take up 20 hours supplementary employment in those occupations. All the best!
Sorry this might be a silly question but how do you tell what table its under, I was relying on the first number of the job code, but if the code for gardener is 5113, then how is it in table 6? Bit confused because butcher's code was 5431 but thats in table 1
@@straightouttaanime6205 Scroll to the beginning of the table, it clearly states the table number and title. Table 1 starts from page 79. Scroll gradually to find the end of the table. Table 6 starts from page 216. Scroll slowly to find the end. You would observe that occupations in Table 6 don’t have any stipulated ongoing salary expectations. It is more plain than that of other tables. When you search for the occupation code. Scroll up to find the title of the Table. I hope this helps you. All the best.

If you don't really think it aligns properly, call the government and ask questions. It is classified under Actors, entertainers and presenters, it is under Table 1. Yes, whether it is Nursery Assistant for Agriculture 5112 or that of childcare 6111, you can do any of them for 20 hours a week as they are both on the SoC 2020. All the best!
