I have probably now watched this video over one hundred times, over the years its been out its a dream to skim cabo and that video is amazing! love the song too what an amazing place
Killer use of that shore break! Great footage--can feel the crushing sensation inside those thick swells when they close out. Real skimmin' ... conventional surfboards can't touch this!
Wow, what a great vid. Thx ! I stayed at the Finistera Hotel on that beach, and it has to be the best skimboarding beach in the world hands down...usually no one even on it or in the water....tip of the Baja and dangerous for inexperienced swimmers
i used to skim when i was a kid. However, i never could have go so long on waves like these guys, as where I'm from, you don't have such cool waves. The waves that I had made me however made some mad ass flips
Wow! Great Video! Its amazing how long these guys can ride to get out to the wave at times. Best Skim video on RU-vid! Nice editing and music. Are there any places this good to Skim in Florida?
yeah I really dont find much, I have been to rhode island, new jersey, connecticut and mexico, it wasn't even close to that good any of those places. maybe cabo is different. those are sick conditions and awesome skimming
cosaverdes...that side wave is called sidewash, and ive never been to cabo, but its usually a getty or something similar...check out vids of the wedge in newport beach to see more sidewashes
i love skimboarding.. prob. been doing it for 5-6 years now. anytime im at the beach its all i do. just wish i had waves like these and then i'd have a good reason to get a fiber glass board. just gunna get 1 anyways but the day has yet to come when i let loose on some damn waves.
i bought a wooden skimboard and fell in love with skimming so im thinking about buying a exile board or a really good one so i can get better with it... im pretty good too i dont even use wax and i can get up on the wave and come back down. i also live on the island of st.maarten and one of the best places to skim down here is in mullet bay.. some friggin HUGE ass waves.. prob the same size as those or bigger anyway i love the video and im gonna try and make on of my own when i get better
you should try skimboarding in puddles when it rains. where i live the golf course next to us floods about 3 times a year for about a week. its a completly different style. i find it more fun. we set up grind rails and stuff and u can do heaps of tricks like 360 shove its and really good combos and stuff. i want to make a video of it one time
**SKIMBOARDERS** who are familiar with cabo. what is making that wave coming in from the left that feeds in to the right? is there a pier or something? whatever it is it makes for some good skimming. wish there was something here in vina del mar (chile) to make a 'side' wave to feed into another wave. (sorry for bad ocean terminology- i'm still a novice)
hey i'm from Brazil... I started now in this sport 'n' in first place i wanna congrat fo' this video, extremely exicitin', the place, the sea 'n' the manuevers... very good... to finish who sing dat song?! skim 4 life playas!
Davo--thanks for the reply! I won't disagree with ya bro! However, unless you have a death-wish for your conventional surfboard in THAT shore break (by exploding against shallow-water) skimboards are my vehicle of choice.
