A lot of skin problems and acne comes from vitamin deficiencies. Vitamins that help fight acne vitamin A,C,D,E,K, zinc, and collagen all help with fighting acne and help with producing new healthy skin cells! Eat more of these vitamins! I’ve been taking supplements for about two weeks and my vagina area is free of boils I couldn’t be more grateful. This video is over a year old and I can't tell you how grateful I am to find it. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge so freely. I am having a particularly bad outbreak right now and your series of videos on HS made me feel empowered. Thank you, in particular, for sharing the products you have listed here. I will be checking them out. I want to share a personal tip: Tamanu Oil. I'm a huge fan of this oil for all sorts of skin conditions since it is antibacterial and antifungal and one of the very rare oils that penetrates all the skin layers. I have been in excruciating pain for the last 4 days and applying this oil topically just took my pain level from 7-8/10 to a 3-4. If it helps someone else find relief, then sharing is worth it. Something that I find very interesting is that the diet tips you talked about in other videos apply to PCOS as well. I have both HS and PCOS and have come to believe that these two conditions are very closely related since the dietary treament path is so similar. Looks like those of us that suffer have some serious life changes to consider if we want relief. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge and for helping all of us out. You're putting something out into the world that is helping people in a tremendous amount of pain. Thank you.
@AttuneMed
@AttuneMed 6 лет назад
Hi, Katerina- Thank you so much for your sweet comment and for the tip about Tamanu oil! I honestly don't know much about that one, but I will certainly look into it! You're so right - we can never share too many tips for HS. If it helps one person find some relief, then it's worth sharing. :-) PCOS and HS are related by many mechanisms including inflammation, hormones and metabolic imbalances. We'll be doing a video about this connection very soon. You're spot on about the importance of making life changes to support healing. All of the patients that we work with - regardless of their diagnosis - have to make some really big changes. I've had to do the same thing in my own life. It's certainly not easy, but it's SO worth it when you can have your health and quality of life back. We work with a lot of chronically ill people in our clinic, but we have a VERY special place in our hearts for people with HS. The pain and suffering is immeasurable, but so is your strength. People like you are why we do what we do. I wish you all the best! ~ Dr. Ashley

I was finally diagnosed with HS a year ago. It took a lot of doctors (most didn't know anything about HS) to come to this name to what I have. I have had this since I was about 14 or so but it was only a few lesions. About 7 years ago, it seemed like overnight, I had multiple lesions on my face, my scalp, my back, my buttocks and everywhere my underwear touched my body. It was such a relief to give a name to this. That meant I wasn't crazy or neurotic and could go about learning how to live with this condition. I use Cedophyl soap, tea tree shampoo and conditioner, Eucerine calming cream and their original heavy cream and these things have helped but I flare up quite a bit and it seems like each flare up is worse than the last. I realize this is the skin care video but I wanted to say that I had never considered the dietary elements to help with the flare ups and reduce the amount of lesions. I thank you for the time and effort as well as the information you put into these videos. I plan to start an elimination diet today! Thank you again.

I have stage 1 HS. I have found that limiting the things I use and keeping them very mild works best for me. I use a mild goats milk soap with aloe for washing. I also use an EO lavender body lotion and Collitol Silver spray if a sore is starting. Many people use beach, Vicks, HIbiclens etc but I stay away from those. I have worked long and hard to detox my body (and my home) so I don't want to add any more toxins back into my body. I have my lesions tested for "infection" and 99% of the time there is no infection present-just "normal flora." When I get a lesion starting I use hot compresses for hours and hours alternating with cool compresses. I also focus on my nutrition as well.

I hope that you may read this, even though it's a year after you posted the video. I just wanted to say that first, I don't usually comment on any video. But you have really helped explain things so well. Very easy for anyone to keep up with & understand. You have in the few videos I have watch provided me & I'm sure anyone who comes across one of your videos. With tons of great information. Not just on the condition you are speaking about. But have touched on many things that just personally jumped out to me because they touched on other health concerns I have been suffering with. It was incredible to listen & just finally realize just how much of my health conditions are much more related then I have come to learn.... I would just like to really really thank you for the very great information. Also one more thing, you mentioned about collagen & connective tissues. In a previous video. I have (EDS): Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Hypermoble Type, or (HEDS) for short. It's a rare Genetic condition. Only on the past few years have basic doctors even began to learn about this condition. So it's really hard to find a doctor who truly understands & can help. I can see where (EDS) could play a major part in helping cause this condition. You speaking of all the bone broths & collagen powder really interested me. It took me to age 28 & a lot of Health problems before finally finding the right specialist that knew of my condition. Then sent me to the geneticist to get confirmed. You are the first in over a decade of learning of EDS, & seeing a ton of doctors. that has even provided me with any information concerning inflammation, collegen builders, & other ways to help provide myself with things like this my body truly needs. Once again thank you so very much for your help, time, & concern for all of us by providing this information.... Oh, P.S. - just wanted to mention that I have used medical honey & tea tree oil as well too help heal. They both have helped me. Not always heal completely but would give me much relief from pain, reddnes, inflammation & helped in beginning of the healing process. Hope this might be of some help... Thanks again ......
@AttuneMed
@AttuneMed 6 лет назад
Hi, Brandi! Yes - I am very familiar with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and how it affects collagen. Research has shown that, in people with HS, the "basement membrane" zone of their skin tissue is very thin or even absent. This zone gives the deeper skin layers support and structure. When it's not there, it means that the follicles are very susceptible to rupture, leakage and spread of debris and inflammatory materials. Collagen, vitamin C, proline and lysine are supportive of healthy collagen formation. I'm glad to hear that the medical honey and tea tree oil have brought you some relief. Since doing this video, we've fallen in love with the manuka honey from ManukaMed USA. Be sure to watch Dr. Egeland's video on bandages for HS; she explains the different honey products and how they work. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment - it means so much to us! ~Dr. Ashley

@AttuneMed
@AttuneMed 7 лет назад
Yes, unfortunately the bursting and recurrence of these wounds is the essence of HS. It is a chronic, relapsing condition. I have absolutely had patients with similar experiences as yours. I work by digging deep to find the sources of systemic inflammation so that we can stop the inflammatory process and ideally prevent new lesions from erupting. A lot of the inflammation stems from disturbances in the gut, where most of our immune system is found.

At least you all know what it is. I've had this since 1991 and all the doctors said it was boils. Matter of fact I'm just learning the name of this condition because my ex girlfriend mentioned it, but since it's so uncommon I couldn't remember it and just yesterday I had a over the phone consultation with a doctor and she mentioned it... She had a heavy foreign accent so I still wasn't able to find it, but I have a break out the size of a damn golf ball on the inner part of my ass that I just kept pressing until I found the name. That doctor did prescribe me some antibiotics, but after finding these videos I'm taking dairy, yeast and whatever I need to out my diet. I have a 10 year old and I told him that we have to change the way we eat. It's going to be difficult because I work 12 hours days sometimes but if I just have to have a troth of spinach to eat all day then so be it. I'm not eating fast food unless it's a salad. I've had these things lanced for years and it's been SO painful that when one usually gets this big I know I will have to go under the knife and I'm tired of that especially when I know that this isn't a sexual transmitted thing... Hell people with herpes probably don't go through as much pain as we do with these "boils"

Y’all remember that this is just a shell of a body, do your best to follow a healthy diet , exercise and avoid these triggers! I know it can be discouraging at times and embarrassing especially for the ladies who get flare ups on and near the groin. Stay focused, stay committed and you’ll see results! I know I have. I do have 3 flare ups right now but I went way hard with the yeast this past weekend so I’m paying for it :( outside of that yes the manuka helps a lot! I’m going to try some of these other products she recommended in the video. I’ll come back with an update. Love you all peace

I think the rise in eating sugars and wheat can often cause autoimmune disorders such as gluten intolerance and therefore HS can be another result of our new crappy diet habits. Also sugars and wheat can aid many new allergies. Corporations do not care about your health and many know sugar is addictive and wheat which breaks down into sugar. Corporations feed you. Thats the problem.
@AttuneMed
@AttuneMed 5 лет назад
HS is a very old disease, and it's believed that Karl Marx had it (he was born in the 1800s!): www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17986303 The reason it's on the rise is because we now have more drivers of inflammation than ever before. As Lady A said, our food has become higher in sugar and depleted of nutrients, we're exposed to WiFi and thousands of toxic chemicals, we have more stress, etc. All of these things will be triggers of HS in people who are already genetically susceptible. The good news is that we can modify these factors and support the body to get the inflammatory response under control.

I've dealt with HS for over ten years and I definitely wish I'd taken more steps to treat it. I've noticed that shaving areas can irritate the inflamed skin and even cause more cysts, particularly if you get nicks and cuts. Also, moisture has been a huge irritation factor for me. It's a good idea to try to keep those inflamed areas dry. I'm not really sure which deodorants to use, so I've been experimenting with a few unscented sprays and roll-on brands that won't irritate my skin. I had surgery for some cysts that have left some really uncomfortable scarring that I feel embarrassed by and that have actually caused more complications. Do you have any recommendations for reducing old scar tissue?

Do you have Mast Cell Activation Syndrome ( MCAS)? Mast immune cells are found throughout the body, including the gut. They can be activated inappropriately from certain triggers causing them to release inflammatory histamine into the tissues which is an allergic response. Are you hypermobile and bendy? If so, you may have an inherited connective tissue disorder called Ehlers Danlos which can be associated with MCAS in some people. There are 14 or 15 different subtypes of EDS including hypermobility. Look up EDS and MCAS to learn more.
