This made me even more stuck and confused. Fungal is the only infection I suspect I could potentially have but have no idea how I go about getting it checked and treated if required. Getting an appointment alone is a nightmare here and it's so easily misdiagnosed during tsw. I'm just carrying on at the moment hoping I don't have it and that my symptoms improve in time. Everything points towards tsw only but the stagnance of my symptoms (nerve pain, elephant skin and shedding) for 2.5 years sometimes cause doubt but I'm aware that's typical during tsw too. I'm 2 years steroid free next month.

Hi. I'm sorry to hear. And yes, possible fungal infection is the most difficult thing during TSW. All the other possible complications or infections you can do something about (avoiding irritants and triggers, avoiding moisturizing on TSW skin and seeking medical care in case of visible skin infections), but fungal infection is the most difficult. Trying to find a supportive doctor who is willing to do skin scraps on multiple locations is the best we can do. Stay strong! You will get through this!

I have just stopped steroids 3 weeks ago and I have had ring worm for the last year that would not clear up with creams as I was pregnant so couldn’t take the oral antifungals I thought it went away but started going to the solarium and there’s 3 white dots that won’t tan and I’m about to start my TSW journey what should I do I’m not pregnant anymore

Hi dear, if you think it might be fungal, it is best to have your doctor check it for you. 3 white dots doesn't necessarily mean fungal, so best to have it checked out. All the best.

Is antibiotics the only way to cure a bacterial infection? Antibiotics cause me to flare I’ve noticed😢 is there anything else I can do?

Hi Eliana, If the infection is still small, you can try topical antibiotic cream. Saline Solution and medicinal grade manuka honey can also help when an infection is still small. Wish you the best of luck!
