During the night when we sleep our skin is detoxifying- it throws out all the waste, dirt and excess oil onto the surface. Therefore we need to remove that layer or it will just start to clog our skin up! As you say carmel we need to treat our skin kindly and not use harsh products that could disrupt the natural balance- as this us vital protection for our skin. Prepping it correctly will enhance our skins defense and protect from pollution, free radicals, uv- the list goes on As well as feeding our skin with ingredients that will improve the tone, texture, elasticity- again list goes on! It's also important to protect the skin from the makeup- chemicals, additives etc in makeup can cause our skin to breakout etc so if we prep the skin and protect the skin the makeup then sits 'on the skin' not 'in the skin' As the body's largest organ- the skin has many functions, it absorbs and expells, it protects and renews, it can show us signs of internal problems before we even fewl it inside our bodies- its amazing! We must look after it ❤
Kim, this is an incredible comment, thank you so much for taking the time to write it! This is so informative - and I think we could all do with a little more skin education. Super interesting about protecting the skin from the chemicals & additives in makeup, it’s something that I need to give more thought to 💗 thank you again, this comment will honestly help so many people…you’re a star! ⭐️😘
This was a brilliant video - so informative. I think I need to go back and watch it again to take it all in. I have a very simple minimal routine - just cleanse, moisturise and then sunscreen. But lately my skin feels dry and is quite textured. I think I definitely need to introduce an exfoliating toner into my routine and a serum. There are just so many products out there it is quite overwhelming . This is the best skin prep video I have ever watched. Thankyou for all the tips. I definitely need to watch again 😊
You are so very kind, thank you SO much! 💗 I totally understand, my skin gets dry & textured too. I would definitely advise a gentle exfoliating toner and also a hydrating serum after it. You really can’t go wrong with a hyaluronic acid- it’s super for giving the skin that burst of hydration! Try applying it when the skin is still slightly damp- it helps with absorption! The Ordinary, Inkey List, La Roche Posay & L’Oreal are just some brands that have brilliant & affordable products 🥰 Keep me posted on how you get on, I would love to know! Thanks again for your lovely comment, it means the world to me 🥰🩷
i agree, and i also need to watch it again & jot down some notes. however, there's no option to save it in a playlist so i cannot add it to my hair and makeup playlist. some videos i have to watch several times so i can remember everything.
Perfect video, gorgeous sister! I'm also almost 42! Might I recommend as a gentle cleanser, Cerave Hydrating Cleanser! My HG! Great tips! I love hyaluronic acid to plump up the skin. I use Hada Labo Premium Lotion, a snail mucin moisturizer and Cerave Lotion if I need another layer of moisture. I use a turmeric clay mask to detox the skin. Highly recommend! It is si fascinating to see the different skin care routines! I also use tretinoin at night 3 times a week n find it to be a game changer as well! A glowy sunscreen too! Love at you, my gorgeous friend 🧡
Hi beautiful! Okay so I’ve heard loads about snail mucin & I think this is my sign to try it 😄 I really do appreciate you sharing your routine & recommendations Jessica, they’re so helpful! Thank you for being here, you’re a star ⭐️💗
I literally love listening to you❤ I love skincare and I'm having a hard time finding my perfect routine lately, but with patience and caution I'll reach my goal❤
You’ve made my day with this comment, thank you so much Michelina! 🩷 Finding perfect skincare is like a never ending journey, I guess because our skin changes so much! Just remember than good skincare doesn’t need to cost a fortune…don’t worry, you’ll get there 🥰💖
Catching up on all of your videos. I am learning so much. I need all the help I can get with my aging and drying skin. Although older than you, your information has been alleviating my issues. My foundation will have a better chance of not caking if I take these steps. Thank you very much for your insight, humor, warmth and knowledge on so many subjects.
Oh this makes me so happy, Laurie! 🥰 I truly believe that skin prep is the most important step in a makeup routine and it doesn’t need to be complicated…or expensive! Your comments _always_ make me smile, thank you so much for being here! 🩷😘
Hi Carmel, brilliant video!! I use Cerave hydrating cleanser in the morning followed by polyglutamic acid serum from Inkeylist then my moisturiser. I know I should use an spf but am nervous around having a film or greasiness on my skin that may cause my makeup to pill. I only use a water based collagen serum at night as I find night creams heavy and comodogenic causing blemishes!! Xx❤
Thank you so much, Jillian! 🥰 The Cerave cleanser is certainly a popular one, they have some amazing and super affordable products for sure! I totally understand your concerns with greasiness & pilling. I guess it’s all trial & error, but I can definitely say that neither of these spfs are greasy & I’ve never experienced pilling either- maybe because they’re designed to be primers too. But maybe just using a moisturiser that contains spf would be an option? As always thanks so much for sharing, it’s so helpful for others! 🥰❤️x
Huge take away is using toner in the morning. I have always reserved this as an evening step so today will be adding in a sweep of toner. Thank you. Will you be doing a night routine? Xx
Hey Sheena! I can definitely do a night skin routine at some point, that would be no problem at all ☺️ Toner has completely changed my makeup application, honestly. Just wish I’d known about it sooner! Do let me know if you notice any difference afterwards 🩷😘 x
