An in depth look at Why & How the Yautja Skin their Prey! The Soundtrack to this Video Included: Frightmare by Jimena Contreras Horror House by Aaron Kenny Cantas Firmus Monks by Doug Maxwell/Media Right Productions
Clearly it was put in the script for the gore factor without a lot of thought as to why. It's left to fans to put a meaning to it. Personally, I like to think he's doing a bit of taxidermy and scientific study. Curiosity about his prey while choosing the best parts to keep as trophies.
I have to agree, there is no reason it's just the writers not thinking things through. If it was for trophy's he would just take what he wanted and leave the rest, if it was for food we'd see missing parts, it's not for marking his territory because there are no predators in the area, it wasn't for intimidation because there was no need, the only thing that's left is curiosity and scientific study and or logging data for other science predators. I agree with you 💯 percent
I always thought, that because Predators were hunting for trophies, they could also use skins to make some kind of stuffed animals (or in this case, stuffed humans...)
I agree that the original intent behind the skinning as @joesphmassaro said. It was merely for the gore/fear factor w/o any or much thought put into it. However given it that it has become a symbol of the franchise and yautia species as whole (that is just as popular as skull/spinal column trophies). I do think you put reasoning into it. Personally I always thought of the skinning as the intimidation possibility. To go deeper into that, what if they did it as not only to instill fear into their prey, but also to test their prey’s metal. To see if they’re courageous and brave enough to be considered worthy prey. As every Predator film (minus 2018) always had the yautia observe their prey to see what is worthy and what is not. So I think the skinning would be a test pf courage and perseverance. Another possibility I thought of is from Predator Concrete Jungle. Almost after you completed the mission at a location Scarface would always have a bunch of gangs, death cults, drug smuggler(the last one I’m not sure was in the game, if I’m wrong please correct me). Anyway I think a point could be made as Scarface did that not only for the intimidation, but as a warning to the corporation (that stained his honor and his wronged his kind ) as he continuously cuts off their supply lines. I’m curious to what all of you think of the warning possibility (not to the other yautia as I don’t personally agree with that, as I thought yautia typically hunt alone when they reach the Jungle and City Hunters age. But I know they’re exceptions, but I still stand by it). Sorry for rambling everyone, hope everyone stays safe and well.
again great work man 💯i all ways thought the predators used a gas to soften and loosen the skin to rip and pull off kind of similar to how Feral used of the wolf skull to disintegrate skin as to why think don't think they take the skin all the time as i seen the it predator 1987 then mac pick the dog tags out and in AVPR wolf didn't take it i think its a domination displayed to the prey to show its the top Predator💀.
I have an idea for a video and the title would just ask this: "What happened to Cuchillo"? I definitly think he was killed by one or more of Tracker's Hell-Hounds. An obvious reason is his corpse was WAY too intact and good shape to have been killed by any kind of Yautja, especially a Super Predator.
