The Yautja (Predators Explained) 

The Yautja killing himself at the end isn't just out of shame it's to remove evidence of their visit and make sure we don't get their tech.

It seems half the fans usually miss this. The Predator doesn't just explode himself for an honourable death, it's also to make sure any lifeforms don't get ahold of their technology.

The fact that we’re considered dangerous game is awesome

I want to see a movie based soley on the predator homeworld and their culture. No humans.

I never thought of them as terrifying but more as badass.

Their civilization honestly doesn’t sound that bad. Hierarchy not based on the family you were born into, but based on endurance, honor, and respect

Predators are one of my favorite characters but they’ve been the victim of bad writing in movies. They could be so much more. Maybe an hbo or Netflix original could do them justice

The number of Elite predators makes me less worried about their capabilities, and more concerned about the number of xenomorph queens there are/were out there to elevate that many living predators to elite status.

The requirements for clan leaders sounds like a mythic raid description

I always thought the bomb on their wrist was more to prevent discovery/proof of their existence than ritual suicide.

Its good to know the Yautjas have an honor code. Like how they spared the girl from the first movie, and Weyland from the Aliens vs Predator movie because he had a chronic sickness. I hope they spare asthmatics like me too :')

Someone needs to make this a game. The name is simple. Predator. Its a create character game offline and online. Clans/groups, raids, hunts, many planets big maps, you start as young blood and lvl up to final part. This would be a perfect game

The biggest plot hole in all of the first Predator is the mud masking, it would hide your body heat while it was wet and cool, but not your breath. The heat vision would pick up your breathing as warmer than the air around it as a consistent anomaly in the middle of the jungle.

The Yautja, imo were one of the most unique alien groups to come into cinema in a long time. They don't look just like every other gray alien on-screen or reptilian, their culture is pretty complex too,ethics, a code of honor and class system. I've got to get back into the books one day.

So, Sigourney Weaver would be considered a straight up bad ass among the predators.

Shoutout to Kevin Peter Hall, the original 1987 Predator who stood at an amazing juggernaut height 7”3. Played the role damn good.

Predators (2010) is chock full of absolutely magnificent one liners!! Awesome!!

Would you like to play this game if it existed. You play as a predator and start as unblooded. The tutorial teaches the player the controls and rules. I thought it would be cool if as a player you could roar to lure prey toward you and kill unseen. There will be no fall damage because the fall 80ft without killing themselves and can double jump but upgrade to a triple jump. At the end of the tutorial you kill a xenomorph and take the head back to the clan leader and become blooded and get 100 currency. Once blooded the game transforms into an open world game like mass effect and travel to planets to hunt. You could play with two others like destiny and rise through the ranks. As you rise through said tanks you are given access to more advanced weapons like shoulder cannon and a combi stick. You can acquire these by taking their skulls and exchanging them for money. You could also use the skulls to upgrade your predator like giving a triple jump ability or silent footsteps. I thought it would be fun if the game had two ends like dishonoured. For example, the good end finishes with the player as a clan leader. The bad end happens if the player kills those who cannot defend themselves, basically, civilians. This causes the player to become a bad blood and sentenced to execution.

The Yautja are basically living a real life RPG! I want to play this RPG.

Sorry dude. Self destruct is a technology denial system. They honour a creature that wins. They will let them go or even take them into the tribe. See: Preditor 2 and the comics about a human woman that was blooded.

I actually clapped when this was over as if I was watching a good movie!! Such an excellent explanation! I've been saying the same things for years as an avid predator and alien fan!

I think the Yautja in Predator 2 had some sort of birth defect, possibly even imbred. It explains why the creature needs to eat so much in comparison to other Preds, and why it needs a respiratory device to breathe easily, something other Yautja's haven't needed. Also it got yeeted by Danny Glover.

It was actually Steve Wang that designed the Predator. Steve was Stan Winston's secret weapon of creature design. Great vid!

Nothing I didn't already know, but a decent overview of the Yautja. I remember reading the AvP short novels as a kid and they dove pretty deep into the Yautja lore. I love whenever the AvP or just Predator topic gets brought up around friends and I can drop nerd knowledge on em lol.

I'd love to see a reference of the Yuatja in the upcoming sequel to Alien: Covenant. Be awesome if David comes into contact with the Yuatja this allowing him to complete his vision. The Yuatja see him somewhat worthy and see that his studies and intelligence of creating the perfect creature strongly follow what their species achieved thousands of years before. They grant him his final piece of his vision, their own, more advanced species of the Xenomorth, an single Xenomorth egg containing a Queen hugger.

What about the occasional human predator (this happened more as humans gained space flight) as some humans who had survived a hunt or aided a yautja in a xenoemorph hunt

What I love about these guys is they're generally honorable* without being stupid about it *"honorable," of course, doesn't necessarily mean "friendly" or "benevolent"

i love the entire series of the books associated with them. Kinda hoping there are follow ups when the series ended and certain people escaped with them and are traveling parts of the universe other humans dont have access to anymore.
