This is a great Live recorded at Dolce Vita Club, Lausanne (CH) - 31.10.1986.
Quality is just perfect, considering the transfer from my old VHS (a rare copy who still exists from this gig).
New from 25 May 2019: Enjoy the full gig here: • Skinny Puppy full Live...

The reverse headbanging does it for me, it's like the DAF- Der Musolini live dance, you'd go see Skinny Puppy now and it would make Assimilate more authentic if Ogre did the reverse headbang while singing it. like if you saw DAF, he would have to do the mental live dance, it was an ace song, but the dance dominates memories of it, like the reverse headbanging now does on Assimilate. .

Im almost 55 and I first heard Skinny Puppy at a wee concert hall in Saskatoon. I was 15 or 16 and I ran out when I couldnt handle the gore. I have another SP friend who is a major fan and he will never let me live it down--skedaddling out of the concert like a weenie but then later listening to every album as it came out. Well, whatever, I was just a kid. I hope this brings someone some amusement.

The Cure Depeche Mode Morrissey Nitzer Ebb Jesus and Mary Chain Two raves in Toronto late 90's Rush (three concerts) Jesse Cook Even a Vienna symphony orchestra in Vienna, Austria. *Nothing* I mean NOTHING compares to the Skinny Puppy show I saw in Toronto (Too Dark Park tour in 1990) It was quite the performance I will never forget. Just seen them last night in manchester and the night before in london. They played assimilate at both shows.....it's lost non of it's power over the years. One of the best electro/rock/industrial tracks ever. Fucking awesome.

This brings back so many memories. This was the year I saw Skinny Puppy live for the first time ever as a young 19 year old. After seeing the video for "Dig It" on MTV (yes, they used to play shit like this back then), I was hooked and saw them in Chicago at The Metro late '86. Seen them on every tour since and it's great seeing Dwayne in this clip. His talent is still missed greatly.

this is an amazing fantastic recording!!! top notch!! outstanding! thanks to all who captured this and then posted it here. just a rare capture of an impossible nearly extinct mythical creature; the artist in the raw perfect moment of the height of perfection. everything to love here. everyone here at their best and most creative. a blissful storm of push comes to shove and shove comes to birth. genius at its best creation. again thanks. this is now my favorite video of these great artists. even the club name is perfect for this; la dolce vita club. a club dripping in harp seal blood. great. i am putting this on loop. again thanks to all.

I had breakfast with them at The Underground in SF (the only goth/industrial club in SF at the time) at like, 4:30am. Had no idea who we were sharing a table with until 2 hours in the conversation. They were here to play DNA Lounge I think.

With the scene - where he cuts himself with the knife - I had to look away immediately. this is nothing for my sensitive nerves :-) .... And on the other side I am very much fascinated from Ogre again. He dedicates himself passionately of the music, crosses the borders, and simply gives everything .... Likes me very well. I love Nivek Ogre ❤

Yeah, I have to admit I winced first time through and I've seen them live a number of times… pulling entrails out of what I can only describe as post-nuclear apocalypse costumes/special effects, and a few other grotesqueries… I guess it just felt more theatrical seeing it live on stage. The build-up of intensity in his face here and then split-second of seemingly calm resolve-staring at that knife-really felt like he was psyching himself up for some good 'ol GG Allin styled self self-harm.

@lormendi People who think they deserve a badge for being into Skinny Puppy "way back when" are pretentious tossers, albeit old pretentious tossers, who should know better. No doubt you think classical music fans shouldn't have opinions either, due to not being alive when the music was composed. You remind me of the twats in Goth clubs who'd argue about music, yet if you said so what are the Dsus4 7th notes, a blank stare was the response. There were plenty of people who liked SP and NIN in the eighties, so maybe you were still an embryo too, or just a twinkle in your dads eye, a singular eye if you're anything to go by.

It baffles me how lesser known electronic music bands (Skinny Puppy isn't as popular as say, Depeche Mode) in the 80s took all those synthesizers and equipment with them for shows around the world in rather small venues, compared to today where you can easily use a small synthesizer with a laptop.
